I have applied this concept for one of the Accounts I work for..The only problem I see is users who have Contributor access can also access the AKS cluster by simply adding --admin key word in their az aks get credentials cmd
This is currently by design, if you have contributor access on the AKS cluster for an azure ad integrated cluster you will be able to fetch the admin kubconfig - which is why the recommendation is to provide kubernetes user permissions for users who need granular permissions on k8s cluster and provide contributor access to people who would be managing the infrastructure resources for AKS

This has been taken care in recent version,I don't remember which one, try upgrading your cluster

Honestly, K8s and AKS is completely pointless service. Overclomplicated and non-agile.
