Wow I didn't even know this became a meme. Stay away from me, internet!
I will hold out my pale sword and guard hell, until you learn all the memes.
You gotta pay the troll toll.
I didn’t know either. Interesting though....
I didn't know it was either.
WE PROTECT DURBATULUK AT ALL COST!!!!
literally
I like this kinda "romantic" and "gothic" style of Black Metal
cause of that every black metalist hates on this artist and also memes on him/her lol,
but doing romantic and gothic in black metal, not in just gothic style like type-o-negative, it's unique lol)
same!! i'm goth and also metalhead and i love kekht arakh with my whole heart🦇🖤
that is actually a really fucking good band, great music, great production and even great visual style. no wonder it became so big
Really like the production. Since paysage d’hiver bitched out on lofi it’s good to see someone carrying the torch and let’s face it this album is way better than paysage last 2 boring albums.
This band has literally 0 interesting songs that you would memorize or would like to listen live, it's just the image
@@Rottensparrow no
@@Rottensparrow yes. the image is the worst part tho.
Гугл транслейтером пользоваться научилась, а нормальный блэк метал научиться слушать не смогла.
Night & Love is actually a good album too, not only Pale Swordsman.
100% agree
I actually prefer night and love
This band has literally 0 interesting songs that you would memorize or would like to listen live, it's just the image
@@Rottensparrow ok.
@@Rottensparrow first of all its a one man project annnnnnd you're also wrong
Kekht Arakh is my favorite black metal band running at the moment, everything hes done has been flawless the production the themes and lyrics. i can only stomach so many hundreds of bands singing about Satan before it just becomes a homogenized blur of inverted pentagrams and and corpse paint. Kekht Arakh (for me) has been a breath of fresh air in a genre that is close to my heart but at the same time dangerously close to stagnation. i totally understand the people who want to keep shit trve and kvlt, but Kekht Arakh doesnt take away from or diminish those black metal bands that play it by the book. i hope to see more from this project, i'm so interested to see if crying orc will go further down the raw black metal path of try and make an even prettier sound with more gothic influences.
Trve respect
totally agreeing, sometimes the satan bands can become way too cringy, like "WE HATE EVERYONE" next post our vocalist died of ketamine overdose someone says fuck that piece of shit and the band is like "oooh nooo i crying now"
@@zimorog keep up the fantastic videos brother, love your content.
does the 88 in your nick stand for Heil H1tler?
@@TimlegoStudios its all about exposure and quantity. when enough bands copy pale swordsman, you'll be sick of that sound too. just how it works
I dont get why people call this a Romantic album when lyrically, its about a Vampire who wants to commit Sewerslide
I slee what u did there
😂
0:10 Bald swordsman
didn't even know theyre a meme, just genuinely enjoy their music
As a black metal romantic I can tell you that a feeling of love combined with sorrow and a black metal taste to it can exist. We're out here in small numbers xD
WANDERING IN THE NIGHT PALE SWORDSMAN YAAAAAGHHHR
For me it was the best black metal album of 2021, it was trve & clean at the same time and it gave me the nostalgia about a period of my life where i was spending my nights listening to underground BM songs while playing Minecraft. The fact it is memable show that the album is somewhat unique despite having a lot of obvious inspirations.
Damn it I thought I was the only one who had a BM + Minecraft phase lol. Listened to a lot of first wave shit while playing that game, Mercyful Fate being my favorite.
I love that phonograph record player hiss effect on the album & the raw sound…to me it sounds like something someone dug up & discovered in an old wooden box from the 1800’s in the forest somewhere.
That’s the first thing that hit me when I first heard it. Note: I couldn’t stop a listening to it when it first came out last year.
I love Pale Swordsman. It’s a great album and so is the predecessor, Night And Love.
Lets face it, there is a reason why people snicker at this band and the style he has taken. Sensitive love songs is not what you expect from black metal. In Post black metal, maybe and maaaaaybe in dsbm id you stretch it a bit but not in black metal. That said, I cannot help but admit that the album is really damn good. 😎👍
I'll gladly take Kekht Arakh any day over the nazi bullshit that is prevalent in black metal.
Apart when you read out of curiosity you come out learning that the boy behind this bodrio of project had taken out a cover of the anime sailor moon. Too cold and raw! Hahaha
@@ANDROSLYKOS yeah I made the sailor moon connection as soon as I saw the track titles. it's cool style though
@@ANDROSLYKOS what do you mean by taken out a cover? that's pretty awesome
Absurd did it first (and much better) on Facta Loquuntur.
blending the romantic gothic themes of, well, goth rock with raw black metal is actually a pretty smart fusion in my opinion (not that it matters) though many will lament it's not kvlt though I would disagree in terms of the melancholy/ nostalgia and overall punchy rawness, fits more into dsbm crossover though doesn't really sit in an veritable subgenre, it was a nice listen overall.
I honestly found Këkht Aräkh by scrolling through Bandcamp, became one of my favorite black metal artists. He put his own spin on black metal and made something original, yet sticking to the roots of the genre.
In his music video "The Wanderer" the only thing that's really lol worthy is the hiphop/rap hand gestures that he does while singing. Other than that, Këkht Aräkh is actually a very good band, definitely has that old Judas Iscariot vibe that I haven't heard in a long time, it's very refreshing to hear.
Wandering in the night, Pale swordsman Oügh!
I've been waiting to find the time to listen to it for a while, now you've gotten me curious ^^
Got recommended to this album on spotify today and I really love the sound of this band. I finished the album twice now and just learned about the references of the band name here. As a Cambodian metalhead, that makes me happy because it's rare to see something like that.
Këkht Aräkh is a great musician, love his proyect, keeping black metal alive, screw haters,
"the crying orc" the thing is I can see the similarities in his music, to the crying ork. the crying ork is one of the greatest, shortest songs ever written (IMO) there is so much vibe in that short piece of music, and I feel the crying Orc is channelling that energy into his own project.
The crying ork (Burzum track) is like a muse.
I really enjoy this album, I listen to it most days.
Same
i honestly enjoy that BM musicians are exploring new themes beside satan, hate and depression. Also, love as a theme has so much more to offer than what Popmusic is willed to explore. And 'Swordsman' is ofc my favorite song :D
Windir - Dance of mortal lust. If that's not love, i don't know what is >:)
He's literally the only black metal dude I like
Dear Sablast, I also would like to mention, that Ukrainian group in VK dedicated to black metal memes(it calls ПАБМ btw), forces the facts that Crying Orc is the hottest girls on the metal scene:)
Dmitry is extremely talented, I don't really like his most recent single Wanderer but it's still original and something new in the scene, Night and Love and Pale Swordsman are both great albums which I listen to very frequently, he's definitely among my top favorite BM artists and I hope he will bless us with more of his work
Not gonna lie, Swordsman is one of the most touching and haunting BM songs I have ever heard.
idk why but it was the only song ever that made me cry
Just like burzum, Kekht came doing his own think and original stuff is always welcome in the BM scene. We already have tons of bands sounding the same
one of my favorite albums ever is pale swordsman. I listen to it regularly.
I adore Kekht, honestly one of my favorite BM bands currently. I love how original he is and how he sticks to his roots; i didn’t even know he was a meme either lmao!!
Didn't know this band was a meme. Legit love the album.
"They sing about love, we sing about Satan"
wandering in the night pale swordsman AUGH!
Just received Pale Swordsman in vinyl and it took 6 months to get to the U.S. hahahaha. I guess he's been having issues with his record label. Nonetheless Këkht Aräkh is some of the most inspiring music I've ever heard.
Pale swordsman is a beautiful album
I am a guy that let channels like "Black Metal Promotion" run in the background while i am working in my (pandemic home) office job. Rarely the music catches my attention while i am focused on my job. If so i know that this triggered the dark part of my brain by melody or general speaking by atmosphere. So did this Album. From this point on i give a s*** if it is nsbm, unicorn ga* or the desire of love. For me it is just art in the purest way that a Person like me appreciates. Black Metal is freedom and strenght.
My favorite BM love song is "The Heart Does Grow Cold" by Woods of Trees :3❤
At least that's how I remember it was called 🤔
@@frankspeed1936 What are you talking about?
@@Nethertheurgy what did he say im curious
@@unitedeasterntapes I don't remember exactly what they said, I just kinda recall it was totally unrelated to my comment or to the video 😹
I never heard of them until this video but been listening seems like he successfully does what alcest tried and failed to attempt to do. Meme or not some pretty good tracks especially “thorns”
Wtf i didn't even know he was considered a meme even if i listened to night and love and pale swordsman lots of time haha
I love Këkht Aräkh!
I love Kekht Arakh's music and I find it really bold to combine two vastly different genres. That's what I really admire. Having your own identify
Just ran across that artist. Dig that new record. Haven't seen the memes yet actually lol
Honest I've listened to thorns every day since last April and I fking love it
To be honest I am happy that we got something new and unique for the black metal community. Usually it is all about Satan and Satanism and these days now in 2022, I am not really seeing to many unique lyrics about that, it is all kind of same because all the good ideas and creative lyrics on that theme have been used many years ago in black metal. So seeing something a bit new and unique for black metal is a bit of a great surprise and a change I personally think we needed (I am not saying we should forbid the usual and classic theme of black metal, I am saying that it is good to have a new addition to it). Next to the outcast like lyrics, music that Këkht Aräkh makes is pretty good sounding and I can't wait to hear what more the band can offer. My personal opinion, don't have to agree, I respect. >:D
The Pale Swordsman was my album of 2021, totally love it.
WOW! i love this album. Where can i buy the CD?
Oh my goodnes 😆 this review is hilarious. I remember I listened to KA for the fist time when the Pale Swordsman came out, thanks to a youtube channel that promotes Black Metal, and I instantly loved it! I bought a physical copy, but Dmitri was having problems with the providers, and it was a big drama all over. Looking forward on getting a copy of his other album "Night and love", which by the way, is also a great album! I'll always suport Dmitri and his music 🤟🏻🖤🗡
The Norwegian scene grew up on a bunch of weirdos romanticizing evil and Satan. Don’t get me wrong I love black metal but the hypocrisy in the scene is crazy. 😭
2:26 Thank you! (I am in two one-man bands, one is English language hardcore punk and the other is Welsh language blackened metal.)
Also thank you for the education on Pale Swordsman.
Where can i find your projects? welsh bm sounds interesting
I dont understand how this became a meme, këhkt's music is literally so good😭
Pop “music” doesn’t have love themes, sure they call it that way, but actually it’s about hookups and hormones and they call it “love”, yet they know nothing about it.
He's fucking good
I think the greatest thing about Thorns has to be the different paces each instrument brings to the song. I can’t help but replay it just for that purpose. Not to mention, it’s refreshing.
Take a look at Happy Days, the band also sings about love and to me it's a pretty good band.
fucking love this album and band! glad to see him getting so much exposure with the memes, though his music is excellent too and speaks for itself. someone i know who isnt a fan for whatever reason described it as “emo darkthrone” 😆
Look I think Ork is just young and I think he's truly starting to find his place in music, he is a solid musician. I think there is a lot of drama around him lately and the label not getting orders out on time so people are angry with him. He also uses imagery that is memeable and honestly other people in ~underground~ bm are the ones making the memes not to mean but all in good fun.
4:02 agreed. Metal doesn't sound as heavy without the bass. I don't know why so many (raw black) metal bands don't use it.
Raw bm isn't supposed to please your ears. The whole point is to go against the grain of anything else. That's why we love it.
@@brettrichards666 there comes a point where it stops being a vibe and starts just sounding crap and when that's done on purpose it's nothing but contrarianism for the sake of it.
Can you give me an example of black metal without bass? I listen to a lot of underground AND popular raw black metal, and i always hear bass. But there's much more treble of course
I never really saw këkht aräkh memes but when I open pinterest and shit there are always burzum memes
WANDERING IN THE NIGHT PALE SWORDSMAN, AH!
thanks for the book recommendation :)
Is it Vikernes on the book cover???
Haha! Good one xD
no :p
Looks like it
Sheer cold genius one-man band.
Big Up Këkht Aräkh
I think i prefer when music goes that way tbh. Following patterns and scenes is not being true to yourself. Sometimes experimentation is what is capable of creating some really special stuff.
Imagine black metal without thrash/death/speed/grind as father genres? If first wave black metalheads didnt explore a combination of those styles and kept it pure then music wouldve never evolve or even exist.
That album sounds pure, fresh and thats why i like it
I like the band his style is unique i was impressed that he had slower paced song
And here I thought the many Batushka bands was the biggest meme ever. lol
I don't care what anyone says, these Black Metal drops were top tier.
ay lol didn't expect to see our Cuckoo's Nest pic lol dats uss
Iam from México and this band is amazing .somethig diferent about the LYRICS and concept but thats is why he aport somethig new .
the reason he became a meme to me was not because of his music (which is pretty cool) but because in a q&a on instagram someone asked "what do you listen to outside of metal?" and one of his answers was Black Sabbath
??????????????????????????
To be fair, while that sounds odd in English speaking metal circles... It's not that odd when you consider the fact that the vast majority of Black Sabbath's fanbase likely are more into hard rock than heavy metal, let alone extreme metal.
i didnt know it was a meme, but now i know how to pronounce këkht aräkh better
Ppl just are acting like there tough and never been hurt by the person they loved the person who made the album is very amazing and love the music
KA is great and Crying Orc is really chill irl. Very glad this band is getting the attention it deserves :)
Yeah? You should ask his label
@@dante666jt u mean the label he's working on or livor mortis? cuz LM is really just being a shithead tbh. ive chatted with CO about it quite a bit and it really aint good at all, but CO is figuring shit out to make it work

About being a great stoic - check out the Book *Meditations* from former Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius. It's a extraordinary book, great read ! And yes, i like the band, even the production is quite low-fi, but that's the same since ca. 97-98 with Paysage d'Hiver, one of my fave bands, too.
Got something new for ya. I will label them Blackened Goth Pop or Anime Black Pop... Dig these ladies. 🔥🤟

I love their sound & style. They would be really fun to hang with too. Also they're playing a huge show in a actual forest with thousands of people in the crowd. I will definitely checkout more Roselia.
Roselia are a awesome band. Thanks for the links 🤘😍
This is a great 'band' - I have both the albums. I love this kind of music - and many other bands from Ukraine, particularly Lucifugum.
I have been heavily into black metal since 1980 - I am 60 now. What surprises me most, though, is that people are amazed that a woman MY age LIKES this kind of music. I LOVE IT!!
If you can put me touch with other (black) metal bands from Ukraine, then please do. I might even play them on my (daytime) radio show. Thanks.
Beautiful songs.
I really enjoyed pale swordsman it’s a well done unique direction of an otherwise stagnant genre
The melody actually sounds a little like Mob Deep.
Really Good album
The thumbnail 🤣
The last track sounds like Linkin Park, but somehow it really fits the album
Top kek did the CoF thing, mixing goth aesthetics with bm, while making average 08/15 atmospheric bm
I have to check them out. Maybe they will do a Black n Roll Lp one day!! maybe one day YOU will do a What is Black n Roll Video?? LMAO!!
This album is fucking awesome!
thank you bro
What's strange about this band is how "delicate" or I've even heard "wimpy" it sounds
It doesn't, though. Melencholic would be more accurate.
You're what now?
Uhhhhhhhhhh...brb I'm gonna go listen to Pale Swordsman again.
Kekht Arakh in Armenian means "Dirty Vodka"
Also Grausamkeit is a meme band.
I think it’s just a one person music project and Pale Swordsman really is a great album
Reject E-Boy Black Metal, embrace war metal caveman riffs
I'm still a beginner when it comes to BM and man this album made me fall in love with the genre.
Btw non of the memes are funny. Just shows how salty some BM fans can be.
Started like it was going to be ZZ Top. Or maybe Yawning Man. Either way, far superior.
Kekht is amazing
I blame Necro posting for all the memes
I liked both the albums, it became a meme because people spammed pale swordsman songs in r/blackmetal and similar places, but it is actually great
