  • Here we are: the last song off 'Relentless Mutation' that has not yet been covered on bass. At a blistering pace of 334 BPM and with tons of dynamic tapping parts, it is among the hardest songs I've ever covered. And like all of Archspire's songs, it's packed full of riffy goodness. Learned using their official tab book as usual (linked below). I pretty much played it verbatim aside from more closely following the guitars at 2:43 and not using slap 'n pop during the chorus for tonal reasons. Enjoy!

Your covers are probably my favorite out there for the techy fast and flexible stuff. Timeing and accuracy is just spot on, especially with all the layering a song like this has from guitars and drums all playing somewhat different progressions. In short, keep it up. Will show this one to a few bassist friends of mine. They'll start practicing more, guaranteed lol.
    Peace

Thanks dude! It's hard to quantify, but usually I'll have a few songs in the works so it'll take a little while to get through. For a song like this I typically allot more than a month, but could probably do it within a couple weeks if it was urgent. Since I use multiple camera angles and only have one camera, I have to do it in a few takes minimum.

Absolutely incredible as always, you never cease to amaze, my favorite part about this song is proably the clean part starting at 1:56
and the little bass lick starting at 2:16 to 2:19 is so fun to play on the bass
Also it's kind of cool that if you listen to the lyrics of this song, it's kind of the start of the whole storyline about AUM and using the black fluid taken from this Mimic well
allthough i think Seven Crowns and the Oblivion Chain from their previous album, is the start of the whole storyline as a whole, anyway i kind of like the story/concept they have built up
Also, i did a tab of Dualis Flamel if you are interested in checking it out, it's on UG, now that would be a song i would love to see you cover.
If anyone could do justice to Hugo's basslines it would be you

Thanks dude! Agreed, it's so satisfying when you get it just right. Also very interesting, I've never actually read them before but I'll have to check 'em out!
I'll defs check out the tab-been toying with the idea of an Equipoise cover for a while but would probably opt to get my fretless chops back up for it, so it'd be a while. Thanks for all the support!
