Another stunning video. Just beautiful! Very few of us watching this will ever actually get there. But you inspire us to get out and explore the wildlife preserves that are near us. Thank You!👍👌🙏😊
Hi guys. Enjoying the videos. Why was it scary? Drifting alone in a mokoro is a relaxing and close to nature experience you have to do in the Okavango. One way I can recommend is to catch a 30 minute flight from Maun airport on the edge of the Okavango deeper into the delta to chiefs island and stay over for a couple of days. They are small Cessna type planes flown by young pilots of various nationalities. (Aussies, NZ, English and South Africans ). It is beautiful flying over the Okavango. You land on a dirt strip in the middle of nowhere and they pick you up in the mokoro’s and take you to chiefs island where you can stay in tents on stilts overlooking the water. Most of the mokoro’s are now made of fibreglass as the trees are becoming scarce. I think they are safer.
@@stevestott1514 Thanks. I'm well aware of that. My wife and I did a 2 day canoe safari on the upper Zambesi and I fell out the canoe in a narrow channel with no possibility of getting back in until the channel ended in a deep hippo pool. But I didn't see any time in this video where they got close to hippos.
Hey, thank you for your comment. We found it a little nerve racking due to the hippos. They were close at points and it was quite daunting. You are pretty vulnerable when you are in a Mokoro. We would love to do a flight but unfortunately it’s a little out of our budget, maybe in the future! We were in a traditional Mokoro therefore it was made of wood. Chloe ☺️
What a great and relaxing way to spend the day out on the water . ( I love going out in the delta’s and tidewater areas nature viewing in my cedar strip sea kayak , is always so quiet and peaceful . ) what a awesome existence that must have been . Thanks again for sharing your wonderful travel and adventure memories with us all your over landing friends . And the time you spend on bring these awesome videos to us . Cheers from Steve Stott in Sutherlin Oregon U.S.A. :) :) 🌍🍻👍🏼😁
We really enjoyed the Mokoro ride, it was a little daunting at times as the hippos were pretty close but other than that it was wonderful to relax and be on the water. Thanks for your comment Steve 🙌☺️
Howdy Landies! So glad you had a peaceful mokoro ride…they are also a great way to get chomped, swallowed, and generally devoured by big lizards or ornery hippos! But I digress…saddle up n be safe!
I saw you guys today at the fueling station if am not mistaken but it's you indeed in malawi mzuzu i don't know where you are going now? But please visit Nkhatabay the good place for you!.
U seem to be travelling alone, do you have any guides to help you and do you feel safe,? and secondly, would you consider moving there if this opportunity comes?
We don’t have any guides, we of course always speak to locals and other travellers. iOverlander is super helpful. We wouldn’t rule it out, we haven’t made any decisions yet 😬

Yeah I was also wondering what was scary?
@@dougggiereidhippos are very dangerous to small boats .

This is very true Steve!

Thanks so much Stuart!☺️
Those narrow lanes you travel along in the makoro are called hippo highways. The term adds to the scariness of the experience.
Yes, the hippos we quite close at times which was pretty daunting!
You have a spec of dust inside your camera on your sensor/lens!
I know!! We were gutted when we looked back at the footage. We hadn’t noticed whilst filming.
Sorry about this 😔
Done a number of mokoro trips in the past and loved every minute of them. Did you get a chance to try and pole a mokoro? Not as easy as it looks
Amazing! No, we didn’t actually! I’m sure it’s a lot harder than it looks. The local guys make it look easy!
Very nice. That bridge looked a bit sketchy.
I was just thinking the new bridge looked stronger than the old 😂😂😂
It was a little creaky but we made it 🙌

No way! We were in Malawi. Our RUclips videos are a little behind ☺️
Did you ask the permission of your guide to fly the drone? When I was there they were SUPER strict about drones, so hardly got to fly mine at all!
Yes I was thinking the same as Botswana has banned drones over the national parks as they have in South Africa
We did ask our guide if we could fly a drone and he said yes.

Do you guys really want to go back to the UK? 😂
Not at the moment no, we are loving Africa so much 🙌
👍🏻
