I know you guys are professional musicians with vast knowledge of the musical world but I'm not sure even you appreciate what a masterful production you created. This is as perfect a rendition as a song could be. I grew up in the '50s and 60s and met a lot of the folk crowd. Liam & Tom's version is good too but this recording defies gravity.
It's a lesson too late for the learning Made of sand, made of sand In the wink of an eye my soul is turnin' In your hand, in your hand Are you going away With no word of farewell Will there be not a trace left behind Oh i could've loved you better Didn't mean to be unkind You know that was the last thing on my mind As we walk along my thoughts are tumblin' Round and round, round and round Underneath our feet are someplace rumblin' Underground, underground Are you going away With no word of farewell Will there be not a trace left behind Oh i could've loved you better Didn't mean to be unkind You know that was the last thing on my mind I've got reason a plenty for goin This i know, this i know The weeds have been steadily growin' Please don't go, please don't go Are you going away With no word of farewell Will there be not a trace left behind I could've loved you better Didn't mean to be unkind You know that was the last thing on my mind Are you going away With no word of farewell Will there be not a trace left behind Oh i could've loved you better Didn't mean to be unkind You know that was the last thing on my mind You know that was the last thing on my mind
@@soundloungesessions1936 All the early Country & Rock N Roll artist all had roots in the British Isles, it just never came together until they were in American, mainly the Appalachian area of the USA. So it's no surprise they had roots there as well as the instruments used. My family is from KY as early as 1803. I;m 48% British Isles DNA. My maiden name is Smith & my mother's is Brown.
In this I used to remember my girlfriend who was unkind to me and left me with no word of farewell. The last thing in my mind is no to fall in love again

You should listen to Stark Sands cover
It's a lesson too late for the learning
Made of sand, made of sand
In the wink of an eye my soul is turnin'
In your hand, in your hand
Are you going away
With no word of farewell
Will there be not a trace left behind
Oh i could've loved you better
Didn't mean to be unkind
You know that was the last thing on my mind
As we walk along my thoughts are tumblin'
Round and round, round and round
Underneath our feet are someplace rumblin'
Underground, underground
Are you going away
With no word of farewell
Will there be not a trace left behind
Oh i could've loved you better
Didn't mean to be unkind
You know that was the last thing on my mind
I've got reason a plenty for goin
This i know, this i know
The weeds have been steadily growin'
Please don't go, please don't go
Are you going away
With no word of farewell
Will there be not a trace left behind
I could've loved you better
Didn't mean to be unkind
You know that was the last thing on my mind
Are you going away
With no word of farewell
Will there be not a trace left behind
Oh i could've loved you better
Didn't mean to be unkind
You know that was the last thing on my mind
You know that was the last thing on my mind

Brilliant! Perfect in every way. Wonderful singing and great instrumentation. Just beautiful!
Very nice interpretation!
This cover is just so beautiful..the voices are what makes country songs so lovely...not all voices are cut for doing country songs!!!
This is one of the most beautiful love songs ever written. You do it so well.
Thank you very much
Fantastic
Just brilliant love them to bits XXX
Beautifully done. Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed that.
Steve
Kerryb7777 is spot on :-) just sublime !
Really love this song..it makes my day!
greatest love song ever
Hon är ju UNDERBAR!!!
Beautifully Done! Saw Tom Paxton three times in concert many years ago. Performance worthy of a album contract. Thank you.
Saw him in Portsmouth in the UK in the 1960's. They don't make them like that any more.
Just found this....VERY NICE !!!!! Sound so smooth and relaxing...
Thank you for sharing.
Good as it gets!
Thank you so much for these nice comments !!
Your version of this song is well thought out...and performed flawlessly! Sounds like a million bucks to boot! Thanx and Cheers!
Thank you !!
Just beautiful.
Great cover and I've heard many.
Naturally, Tom penned it! It's wonderful👍. Aside from Tom, I'd have to say, in my opinion, that Neal Diamond's cover is the best👌🎶
Sounds really good...!

Excellent.
Beautiful! 👏👏
Love this so much :)
Lovely 💜
Endorsed by Tom Paxton......couldn't be better
awesome version!
Thank you so much .
All the verses!
Awesome stuff!!!
A lot of people sing this song.
But personally, I like P.P.M. Marie's voice is the best. P.P.M. Is Forever
Nice
A great American country song. Is England going country?
It is indeed! :)

Thanks for the lyrics
I agree with Russ - all the verses (But in the key of B?!) Well that's what capos are for.
best of Enland
Thank you for a great compliment !!
please ..any one can tell me in what key this song is... none of my 7 harmonicas fits ( my voice flows in easily ;-)
These 2 dislikes are probably the cleaners...
This is to funny 😭😂
Very nice. Perfect tempo, nice harmonies and true to the original.
That’s a great song but no,way is that the best version. They are all good musicians but the female part does nothing for the song.
I liked Phil Everly version better
The Seekers version is WAY, WAY better in my opinion.
Very good, I like Charley pride version
