Travel is extremely expensive. The majority of Middle class families have two working adults. How much does it cost to just make one trip to Europe? It's out of the financial means for many Americans to travel. I might someday get to travel abroad but at this point I'll likely never be able to afford it. As a woman, how would I travel alone? The world is a dangerous place for a woman traveling alone. So, there are a few reasons why Americans might not travel. If I knew I could travel safely and had unlimited resources, I would have spent my adult life living all sorts of different life styles. I would have traveled the world and learned the world's cultures. Lucky are those who find work that allows both for the time and resources to travel the world. Sorry, went cynical but the reality for most Americans resembles my own. As for a cultural experience, I didn't have to leave the town I was in to have a profound cultural moment. In the 2nd grade I was introduced to the Powwow. It was one of the most significant moments in my childhood. I came to deeply appreciate many Native American cultures and their traditions. That Powwow would forever influence my view of the natural world. In fact, their culture validated many of the beliefs I already had about animals and nature. I love theology and I would have studied the ancient religions if I had had this passion 20 years ago. To visit these ancient temples, would truly be life changing I'm sure.

You are completely true, I suggest you to come to Iran, it's very cheap (10 times cheaper) and people are very welcoming and a lot of temple.
