Full respect to Pete with his sobriety it’s a miracle trust me as for the past everyone was correct to avoid him a total mess which makes his sobriety something special
Pete has jokingly suggested that he and Liam Gallagher duke it out in a charity boxing match after Liam "Stole" Drew. “I think we should have a sponsored boxing match and the loser gets Drew.”
Ha! I was in attendance for both those Oasis gigs in 2005. What come from Babyshambles not playing that day in MK was that The Zutons stepped up and absolutely smashed it. Two years later I would get to see Babyshambles on the Other Stage at Glastonbury who were pure class from what I remember. MK was defiantly a missed opportunity for them imo.
I thought it was pretty common knowledge that Liam really didn't like Peter Doherty and it was definitely Noel's idea for Babyshambles to support them. I also think that Peter was/is very calculating and i think he (HIMSELF) got more out of not appearing. As for the band, sadly i think its evident that it was very much a chance missed
@@ryanjavierortega8513 publicity wise and Liam was very much on his own turf and I think would’ve caused problems for Peters ego had he been the support act. It’s one thing being abused and sent up in your absence but quite another if it’s done face to face in front of a mass audience.
I was at that Milton Keynes show. Was quite excited to see Babyshambles. If I'm remembering correctly the line up ended up being Oasis The Zutons (filled in for babyshambles) The Redwalls The Secret Machines Noel Gallagher dedicated the song 'The importance of being idle' to Pete Doherty lol
Love all Pete’s music. I don’t think they missed out. I saw Babyshambles in Spain after we’d had the tail end of a hurricane the night before. There performance blew us away and saved our festival!
This shows you that everything's relative. In America, Oasis were seen as a chaotic, unprofessional band that couldn't get it together. They never completed any of their first 3 tours and were considered a shambles. But in this video compared to Doherty and company they come across as a very professional corporate outfit.
Oasis were chaotic but still went 4 times platinum in America in 6 months with Morning Glory and had three Top 5 US albums, and have sold over 10 million albums in the States. Not bad at all.
Yeah Oasis still sold a lot of records in the US & headlined places like MSG in New York. They just didn’t really give a shit about America & wouldn’t play the corporate ass missing game so we’re never going to be as big there as they could have been
I can understand the members disappointment regarding the show - but I always felt if they had done it - it would be akin to a certain kind of submission - when clearly the shambles were more relevant than oasis at that point .
I've just gotten his book as a Christmas present, am right at this chapter, just turned on the phone and this pops up! Get outta me head! 😂 Great read btw.
Petes great, Karl’s great, libertines we’re great. Oasis were better, both bands carried the same kind of vibe, brotherhood, friendship, hate love. It was all good.
Definitely Babyshambles missed out!! Pete was off his nut then , Allways got that vibe from Noel that he like libertines , and shambles. Maybe Noel invited them to get on top of Liam !! Lol. Good doc 👍🏽. Funny how Liam and Pete’doing soo good now solo …. Love them both 🤙🏽

One of the Zutons plays in Noel's band now and one of babyshambles plays bass in Liam's band
I was at the same gig. I was so happy when The Zutons stepped in. Amazing gig
That was my first oasis gig and I was a huge pete fan. They definitely f up missing that one! I've still never been a crowd like that one. Pure bliss
Amazed they were even playing with them in the first place.
I remember the Milton Keynes gig was also gutted Baby shambles didnt play though really enjoyed The coral that night who stepped in.
