I have an idea for an AU: Elphaba and Fiyero fall in love long before she's invited to meet the wizard. During their time at Shiz University, she helps him with his studies and inspires him to try and avoid being kicked out again. Furthermore, he has serious issues with his parents about how animals are being treated. In time, they graduate.and Fiyero is cut off by her parents, who smuggly point out that since he's graduated, he could find a line of work on his own. When she's invited to meet with the wizard, it's him, not Glinda, whom she invites to join her. And during the big Defying Gravity number, he accepts her offer to join her on the broom. That would be an amazing love story.
1:32 I really like how you came up with a diagetic reason to the swell in Elphaba and Glinda's duet: the broom bucks and they float and twirl around the room as they hold it. It creates a more dynamic and cinematic staging for the sequence than if they just stood there holding it, and their emotions being raw joy and ecstasy as they share this moment of flying together and revel in their potential.
Now that’s what I called Defying Gravity, this animatic is very good and very extraordinary, they should make a full video of this, Wicked just keeps getting better and better, still the best musical, good job 👍 to the person who made this, Kristin and Idina and Original Broadway Cast is still the best, can’t wait to see the musical in the movies 🎥 when they open back up, 🎶and no one’s gonna bring them down, ha’ahhhhh🎶🎶

Okay so two things I'm OBSESSED with... the look on Glinda's face at 2:30 is portraying so many intense and complex feelings. It's a masterclass in character drawing. And I love how you incorporated the iconic broom lifting moment for Elphaba at 3:57. Such a clever and unexpected choice to make her stop flying for a second and find a natural way to justify that moment, with a huge visual payoff. That's the kind of choice that I hope the director of the actual film is smart and brave enough to make.
That was SO cool. This is why I really think Wicked would be so much better in 2-D animated form than an in-person film adaptation...because movie musicals are just not cutting it nowadays. And this is coming from someone who loves musicals.

Yes! Yes! Yes!!! This is exactly what the scene should look like when it gets to the screen for sure. Lots of the moments you created match my fantasy and you even made me cry. This song has so many emotional Beats and you hit each one of them on the nail, breaking away from the limitations of staging. I loved the broom flying around them, i loved the backlit silhouette in "i hope you're happy", i love how joyful you drew Glinda when Elphaba leaves, and that triumphant flight is glorious.
this is absolutely amazing. I'm so glad that you put in when Glinda reaches her hand out towards Elphaba. That is such a crucial detail that's in the performance that's important to Glinda and Elphaba's relationship.
How did I only now realize that Glinda used magic to give Elphaba her cape?? I loved that detail, since Glinda should be studying sorcery at this point in the story

The amount of chills I got while watching, and felt the emotions, the facial exprsssions were so well made- got goosebumps halfway through, and then up till the very end! i’ve watched this enough times that i feel like i owe it to leave a comment, even though other people have already said my thoughts. but this is like… by far and wide the best defying gravity, possibly wicked animatic there is. i found it after watching Wicked live for the first time and as someone who loves musicals but is kinda bad at the “visualizing a song more than the general stage performance allows” this managed to encapsulate the vibes of the song, the joy, the freedom, every part you did you captured PERFECTLY and now i can’t imagine this song in any other way… like… not an expression when i say the animation from every part after “it’s me!” gives me GOOSEBUMPS…. it just… is so good, so incredible, the scene where she flies between the towers, her falling through the clouds, THE PAN WITH “THE WIZARD OF OZ: YOUR SAVIOR” ….. it’s just. perfect.
When are they going to make a Wicked animated feature film?! They should hire you as the story boards director or better yet the animation artist department. Maybe Sergio Pablos Studios could make it with your help. I mean they did the Despicable Me franchise and Klaus.
