I remember taking this train from Portland to Seattle in 2017 at the end of my cross country bike tour. Ripping through those two cities, and the people I met, was one of the best times of my life.
I fired Rempe from being a wrench at Gregg’s back in the day. I told him, go be a tattooer, don’t get stuck wrenching on bikes your whole life like me! And look at him go! I’m so proud of him!!
Pretty good . i watched the entire video which i rarely do because i'm rather old (78) and generally cranky and have the attention span of a mosquito . i use to live on Bainbridge island and would marvel at how many people commuted by bike on the ferry .The bikes were allowed to exit first which provided a lot of safety for them . anyway ,a fun video .👍
My friend bought a NOS Specialized Creo a few months ago so he could continue to ride longer distances with us. He just turned 75, and the bike has been a great deal for him to be able to ride 50 miles at an 18-20 mph pace. He suffered a bit of a setback a few years ago with a lung infection that has severely hampered his ability to ride more than 30 miles on an "analog" bike, but the Creo has been a good fit. Bicycling, he said, has probably saved his life because he's diabetic and since taking up cycling 9 yrs ago, his blood sugar levels have stabilized, and he feels tons better.

I used to work at General Mills for 16 years. We used to put the "premiums" in the cereal box by hand. Occasionally I'd fill a box with just marshmallows, in A lucky charms box, make sure it was properly closed and sent in the case. I did this many times hoping some kid would have a fanrasy fulfilled. We would also jam in tons of premiums in some boxes.

Fantastic video - brings back memories of my Seattle days! Lived in the Downtown and Capital Hill District in 95/96. My second apartment was on Melrose Ave/Pike St near Bauhaus Cafe which is now a Rapha store. It was great to your bike perspective again since that's how I got around.
Great video, and you hit some of the best spots in town. Had to mention that my uncle actually started the Ace hotel back in the day, it was cool to see someone I watch regularly in my domain. Keep it up DK

Aw man....got a little misty eyed when I saw scenes of the city. Used to ride around N. Seattle and then I moved up to Snohomish County. I frequently ride the Centennial Trail but I think I actually prefer urban riding. I'm much fitter now and It'd be nice to see which routes around the city I could take, as I had a tendency to avoid routes with too much gravity.
Having moved to Seattle back in January, it was really fun to rewatch this video now that I know all the spots you visited! Gonna have to check out El Moose next time I'm in Ballard!
My 3 kids and the neighbour kids used to run around the neighbourhood with bicycle helmets on all day. We used to laugh at it, they never felt like freaks having helmets without their bikes. Sometimes we just have to be like kids and leave our adulting judgy selves behind. Thanks for sharing your adventures!
Fun little adventure!. I feel you on the randomness of the bike lane going all over compared to what I’m used to riding. Went to Oakland awhile back after I hadn’t ridden there in a while and it was the same with a new bike lane structure that I was cool with just wasn’t used to it or expecting them to be that way. They remind me of San Francisco bike lanes little better than usual. I liked the new way they were designed since it seemed like they were going for safety as much as possible. Think more to come in other cities of the Bay Area which doesn’t hurt. Just gotta get used to them is all. Not a bad thing.
In the UK British Rail that was,pre privatisation used the tagline ‘Let the train take the strain’ sadly they didn’t live up to that and so if ever in the UK maybe consider an alternative transport.
I've only ridden in Seattle once... Also took the train, rode from Vancouver into Portland, went for a concert. I felt like their bike lanes, roads, and sidewalks were way rougher than Portland-area, more potholes and the like, but I was mostly in the industrial SODO/Georgetown area so maybe that's why.

Also, there was a saddle library in Portland until just recently with Gladys Bikes closing.
