      Yeah it's a great offer now 20 dollars though which is still amazing for this software. I paid 150 when I bought it but I don't regret that either. Thanks David for watching and commenting.

    There are a few features I didn't cover in this video but have covered them in this playlist ruclips.net/p/PLmaIwUQ74H-3282CV4A1MRvt14RMJ5iG5. Hopefully Escape Motions keep their software at the low price for a while longer, check out this link if you wish to get it (note I would get a small commission if you use this) bit.ly/3TQX3BR. Thank you so much for watching it really is appreciated.

    Thanks for the video, Wee Bob. Being a Yorkshireman, which in many ways is a Scotsman with a slightly different accent but similar economic values, I went for the Pro version as it was the same price as the regular but with several added features. And thought the price has doubled it is still only £24.
    Anyway. I've gotten myself a graphics tablet so I'm all set.

      Lol, yeah I've been in Yorkshire a few times, struggled a bit with the accent, I'm not going to lie :P Great that you picked up the software at such a great cost and have got a graphics tablet. Any questions just let me know and perhaps if you learn a thing or two you can leave me a comment. Every day is a school day after all. All the best and have a great weekend.

      @@weebobart Thanks, Wee Bob. As I am a big fan of Rab C. Nesbitt I can, at a pinch, understand those from north of the border.
      For me a good day is a day I learn something new. So I am have some good days just lately.

    I am trying to figure out how you incorporated the dragon shape in the process. I see that it's on a separate layer, but I can't tell if it's a mask that you wet in order to keep the watercolor spreading til it hits the edges of the dragon shape and gives the silhouette. It's an awesome technique I can see myself using a lot, starting with a broad wash of colors and then bring a shape to life from the colors already on the canvas. I will read more, but when I saw that my jaw dropped and I I knew I needed to know how to do that.

    I am pulling my hair out Bob. How do I get the stencil to snap to the guide. I want to use three stencils of a tree with various amounts of detail like a hdr stack and paint each one with different colors. I figured out how to make guides but when I put my stencils down I can not get them to snap tto the guide so all three line up.

    • @weebobart
      @weebobart  Год назад

      I'm not sure the stencil snaps. I'm at my normal engineer day job just now so not sure when I could help out. You could try doing one stencil of the tree and then copy paste. The snap to guides is in the view menu from memory make sure snap to guides is ticked. Hope you get it sorted. Use the magic wand to select it if it is one color and then colour using a selection of different layers.

    • @Megzamani
      @Megzamani Год назад +1

      @@weebobart thank you. I got snap to guides but no snapping. Usually you would put stencils in best composition place and layering them anyways seems silly but the HDR layer effect does work nice.

    I hope Rebelle will do a complete overhaul of their brush engine in the future so you can produce results that actually look like watercolor

      @weebobart  Год назад +1

      Or it could be that I'm not that good at showing how it works, which is very possible. Anyway cheers for the feedback and maybe they will make improvements in the future. Do you have any alternatives? Artrage or?

    • @kullenberg
      @kullenberg Год назад +2

      @@weebobart I apologize, no criticism against your art or presentation whatsoever were implied. I'm just saying, compared to actual scans/photographs of watercolor painting Rebelle has still a long way to go, especially when it comes to getting varied mark making, shapes and textures that looks natural. In my opinion that is the logical end goal for a digital painting software that attempts to emulate traditional media. I was actually told by a dev in a youtube comment that they were working on a brush engine that doesn't use the old stamp method employed by almost all digital painting software, so maybe we'll see the results of that in a version or two down the line if we are lucky.

    • @weebobart

      No worries @kullenberg the written word can subjectively be taken and many comments I get I have to read a few times to check I am not misunderstanding the intent. It is interesting to hear differing viewpoints, especially from those who have perhaps been doing digital art for many more years than I have. Rebelle is the closest I have seen to anything that feels right to me but I do have performance issues with my PC which reduce the enjoyment of using these tools. Having done Blender for many years water has always been one of those things which has been a difficult thing to achieve proper simulation of and especially in a real time basis. It will be interesting to see how things move forward. Anyway thanks again for further commenting and I hope you have a lovely weekend. Cheers.

      @@kullenberg (7 months on) Have you checked out the latest version of Rebelle? Honestly, I can't recall how much difference there is between the two but I've been fair impressed by the watercolor simulation. It does take some tweaking to get effects dialed in but if you know what you're looking for it should be straight-forward. That said, it's still not going to look like a real watercolor (though, with the right hand, it can certainly fool people who aren't inclined to look closely). I think some of this is due to digital watercolor colors ending up much more saturated-looking than a real media piece would.
      What I'd really like to see are some true granulation effects. There is a granulation option but it doesn't really do what I'd expect it to - settle into the texture of the paper.
