Piece of trivia - Big Jock was in the early part of his legendary managerial career when Billy Bingham was a player in the opposing Everton team at Dunfermline. It was the Toffees first tie in European competition during the season they won the English league title.

That game in 1985 was my first memory of a football match. 6 years old and watched the game with my Grandpa as my Dad was at the game. He'll of a lot to take in how important it all was after Davie Cooper scored the late penalty equaliser just loved the whole atmosphere. Remember not really understanding what was happening after being so happy it was a great result to people being so upset that big Jock had died. Years later when Davie Cooper died I always remember that penalty and how cool he was as Neville Southall was one of the best keepers in the world at the time. Being Scottish we might never win anything but it doesn't matter nothing feels as good! Or hurts as bad!

I was nine years old when Celtic won the European Cup. Years of wonderful success under the great man. I will never forget the 1972 Scottish Cup final. We had gone out of the European Cup on the Wednesday night on penalties. Dixie Deans mised and Inter won 5-4. In the Scottish Cup final three days later we faced a great hibs side. We were two one up at half time and I remember speaking to a confident hibs fan who felt sure his team would emerge victorious. Celtic came out for the second half and ran riot with Dixie Deans scoring a hatrick. At the end of the game the celtic fans were chanting Jock's name and he eventually emerged onto the pitch. I was 13 at that time and 50 years on will never forget that absolutely wonderful day. I have lived in England for 47 years but Celtic are my football love and always will be. For me Jock is the greatest manager of all time. An absolute legend of a man with great humility. Thank you for the wonderful memories Jock.
