I haven't felt well enough to do origami for a while, and I knew a happyfolding video would be a good one to build some confidence with! I loved this model. Thanks for the excellent tutorial!
I'm glad you enjoyed the tutorial and that it helped you build some confidence! Keep on folding and enjoying, and most importantly believing in yourself.
Ok. Stop. To find the 1/3 of a paper... I just read in a (older) book: Do you know the "method"?: 1. vertical mountain fold, 2. diagonal fold (left bottom to right above), 3. fold right bottom to the middle. AND the point, where the diagonal from the 2. step and the fold of the last step meet is the 1/3! But here in the video: IT'S JUST GENIOUS, how easily and lightly the demonstrator is collapsing the paper in thirds! WOWWWWWW. Thank you. We need more videos like that to show us: "Stop overthinking, just do it!" ♥ ♥ ♥
Well I watched this one a dozen times before actually folding it, I think because I use printer paper my folds tend to have a crumbled look to them but I finished it and it looks good if not neat, the single color paper isn't as nice as well he double, but I enjoyed folding it, hoping you and yours are well and thank you for sharing
Although I had to pause in every step, even with playback speed set to 0.5 (which gives you a funny voice, hehe :D). This follow along tutorial was super helpful and actually gave me some deeper understanding of the folds, as you explained them :) Thank you! And beautiful hands, too!
Amazing, your work is so clean that i almost feel shame of my own jejeje, I gonna make it again now with some tips of this video. Thanks again for share.
You're welcome! By the way, this model is designed so well that you can easily fold it from small or large paper. It will still have a nice shape and stand robustly.
Phenomenal model. Tricky at places but very doable. I have a pattern which I purchased to make a couple of different "cut and paste" type 3D birds. I was going to make them for my Christmas tree this year but time got away from me. I love this model and will try it when I get home. If it goes well, would prefer to use origami model to a cut and paste model. Thank you again for your wonderful instruction. Happy New Year 2020, Sara.
Very good! I actually love Robins, but I’ve nevered seen one but at least I folded one! Thank you so much for helping me out and thank you for your lovely guides. It is a very good model!
Please pause for a second or two after you make a complex fold to show the result, it's so hard keeping up when you go on to the next fold even when I pause because I don't know what the fold looks like after it's done.
just finished folding this one. difficult to stand. perhaps I should use more rigid paper like Tant than ordinary kami ? looks good from side, but not good from front .
Hm, there's not too many origami cows out there, but I believe this one is on my list to consider for future videos: www.giladorigami.com/origami-database/Mad%20cow%20Fernando%20Gilgado%20Gomez
Thank you so much for the lovely tutorial. I normally stick to modular or geometric folding. I appreciate the tesselations and animals but have never really been inspired until last week when you gave us a glimpse of David Brills fantastic design. I knew then that you’d be able to teach me how and I can’t wait to give it a go. I feel goofy asking but is your channel monetized yet? I don’t want to skip commercials if it is because I really want you to succeed and continue .
Hi Rose, I'm glad you like the tutorial, especially if it's inspired you to stray from your usual areas of origami. I hope you'll have fun folding it! Yes, my channel is monetized. It doesn't bring in much money, but enough for me to buy origami paper and especially books to support the designers.
Wait... so is it DavID Brill who invented this or DaVE Brill?? The title of this video says it's David Brill but all through the video and in the comments Sara Adams says Dave Brill. This is CONFUSING!
Great video and model as always. I am really curious about the papers used, especially the gorgeous shadow striped Kraft paper for the sample model. Could you please put a link in the description? Thanks!
Thanks, Marc. Ah, I fear I still buy my Kraft paper locally. I haven't found an online sources especially for the different color combos. Also, I have no reliable source for any color combos - they seem to come and go without rhyme or reason.
Thanks Sara, I figured you would say something like that. I found interesting color combinations in large-format counter rolls, but these carry high price tags at over 90 Euros. You are putting your paper finds to good use - thanks for sharing your folding through your videos!

super cute!
Thanks, Jo, for continuing to support me. :)
Its youuuuuu!
Wait ur not verified?
Jo Nakashima brought origami back into my life. Glat to see him here as well :D
Brilliant model, really ! Thanks for taking time teaching us and congratulations to David Brill for designing it. We can almost hear it singing !
Yes, it is a fantastic design indeed. That's why I was especially happy when Dave gave me permission to make a video on it.
Got lost about the 14:00 mark and couldn't seem to get oriented again. Will probably try again as my skills increase. Thanks.
I got lost after 10:12. It is very difficult to see where to make the folds at that point.
Did you figure it out eventually? If not, you can also try downloading the diagrams from Dave's website, and see whether that helps.
lady needs to slow down ffs
A Perfect model for a Perfect origami teatcher. Too much perfection !
Now I have a new origami thing to show off to my friends THANK YOU!!
You're welcome. Perhaps you also want to share the video with them. :)

Congrats on folding your bird! Yes, the color change does add to the model, but even from single colored paper it has a very nice shape.
yes it does have a nice shape to it

Practice makes perfect and I do hope my tutorial helps you fine-tune the fold of this truly amazing model!
+happyfolding.com - enjoy origami online for sure. thaks
Keep uploading such nice tutorials
I'll try my best. :)
This is a beautiful model Sara! I love your tutorials and just your lovely voice over them. It suits the tutorial perfectly!
I'm glad to hear that! Yes, this robin is a truly fantastic design. It's one of my new favorites overall.
Thanks Sara! It's so tiny and beautiful.
You're welcome! By the way, this model is designed so well that you can easily fold it from small or large paper. It will still have a nice shape and stand robustly.
Beautiful........very nice model........well done
I agree! To me, it's one of Dave's best works.

It is a very good model!
Glad I could help!
So very impressive. How can you think like that, where folds influence and reinforce future folds and forms? I am in awe.
Nice, I am 10 and am going to do this as well for mothers day
I have done 2 videos
thank you very much, without video I would not be able to do it
I'm glad I could help!
Excellent class Sara, as always, congratulations for your work!!!
I'm glad you like it!
Congratulations on your 100k subscribers

Thank you. :)
THIS IS EASIER THAN THE RABBIT THANK YOU.
Wow.......Awesome Creation my Friend. Thanks for Share...Like 059
I'm glad you like it. As for the creation, all credit goes to Dave. :)
Great looking Robin. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, Dave did come up with a superb design here!
Please pause for a second or two after you make a complex fold to show the result, it's so hard keeping up when you go on to the next fold even when I pause because I don't know what the fold looks like after it's done.
Thanks for the feedback! I'll try to improve on it.
just finished folding this one. difficult to stand. perhaps I should use more rigid paper like Tant than ordinary kami ? looks good from side, but not good from front .
The bird stands robustly only if the claws are angled in the correct way. Try adjusting the angle to change the weight distribution. Hope it helps!
@@Happyfolding thanks Sara!
Thank you Sara!
My Robin turned out very pretty, thanks to your super tutorial! What kind of paper did you use?
In the video I used standard origami paper (kami). For the display model I used Kraft wrapping paper.
Congrats on your robin, too.
Thank you so much for this model! This is one of my favorite now I succeded (not that simple but when you get it it's so cute!)
hello, if im making my own papel , what would you recommend for this model? double/triple tissue or double tissue foil?
More difficult than imagined, wasted over an hour trying to understand the video. Attempt with caution.
I've been checking in all week for this tutorial. So glad it's finally here! Now, where'd I put my duotone paper pack?
Have fun folding it. I'm curious to see your rendition!
17.45 ...lost! the folding is just too fast. Camera angles could have been better also
This was the first tutorial of you, that went too fast at some points (the last part) for me. But I finished it. Sort of 🤪
It looks cute. I'll make it.
Can you make COW tutorial ?
Hm, there's not too many origami cows out there, but I believe this one is on my list to consider for future videos: www.giladorigami.com/origami-database/Mad%20cow%20Fernando%20Gilgado%20Gomez
Yes an origami cow. (also my rabbits name)
@@Happyfolding yes any Cow. This one is so fantastic.
Make soon.
Nice papercraft
THANK YOU

well , not that easy..
how come mine turned out with a single sheet at the beak ? 😃
You completely lost me at 7:55 I legit did .5 speed to catch up way too fast
Wait... so is it DavID Brill who invented this or DaVE Brill?? The title of this video says it's David Brill but all through the video and in the comments Sara Adams says Dave Brill. This is CONFUSING!
Dave is short for David. His full name is David, but he usually goes by Dave.
Great video and model as always. I am really curious about the papers used, especially the gorgeous shadow striped Kraft paper for the sample model. Could you please put a link in the description? Thanks!

am here for your voice. 😊

Very niceee
I'm glad you like it!
It was really hard but I pushed through.
Where did you get your paper?
Your origami dog and Robin. .. and whatever left to find.... um wow😂😂😂 WTF it's amazing
I'm glad you like it. All credits for the models go to the designers of course. I just help them spread the word. :)
