That is the coolest origami snail ever! I just found the video today, while keeping cool in my basement wit a laptop and basic origami survival kit. Now I'll have to go upstairs and get some bigger paper. LOL It's amazing what one can find in a bird base.
Wow! This folding presentation is fantastic and I really love it. My 7-year-old son and I followed your presentation and successfully built our models. Thank you very much. What I like about your model is the nice and proportionate 3-D shape of the snail shell and the body. This model does stand out among other competing snail origami models. One suggestion I'd like to add is perhaps the shell part: While both sides of the shell look great, they tend to stay apart, as time goes by; so While it looks great from the sides, but not from the front. I know this is one of the soft spots of origami models, but it'd be great if we see some ways to hold the both edges of the surrounding tops. Just a suggestion. Still, this is the best snail model out there.
Thank you Sara. My first one worked but I look forward to a second or third one which looks cleaner and nicer, mine's a decidedly scruffy snail! And I'll see if I can manage a couple more shell segments next time. Thank you for your lovely clear demonstration :-)
I think thinner paper works better in this case. But if you want to give it a go, I'd recommend you use larger paper to have a chance of getting at least some detail (i.e. more repetitions) on the shell.
Yes, every once in a while I ask designers whether I may publish their diagrams, too - usually when they're not easily accessible elsewhere. And when they do agree, it's a great counterpart to the video.
Yes, it's a more advanced model. If it's a bit too challenging right now, try folding some easier models to hone your skills and then come back to this one. This is what I've done many times in the past, and it's always been so rewarding to see how I progressed, finally managing to master the complex folds that were too difficult for me before.

Hard to make, especially the snail house. It did not turn in to a circle, ended half way.I will try again. In the past I had folded many models watching your video, with clear instruction.Thank you.
+Fuzzy Caterpillars I'm sorry to hear that. This is a slightly more advanced model, so perhaps it will help you to fold some easier models first to hone your skills and then come back to this one. That's what I do when I struggle with a model and it's worked wonders for me many times.
Everything was really good, until i started to work with the shell, seems like I need more paper cause I just have 4 sections not 13, I don't know why :( I'm gonna try again, love your tutorial.

THIS IS A GREAT MODEL. THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS

I'm very happy with how my model turned out! Thank you so much for a well made, clear, enjoyable video!
Congrats on completing the snail! I'm glad that my video helped you fold it and enjoy it.
I really like the shell of the snail! Like the shell that tomoko fuse designed!

haha great tutorial, it was hard to make since i only had 6 inch by 6 inch paper, still very enjoyable!
beautiful model! great video
Thanks, I'm glad you like it.
Thanks for the remake! Can't wait to fold it
I'd love to see your result!
Is it thick or thin
Would something like this be good to fold with elephant hide? I have some lying around and I'm wondering what to fold with it.

Very beautiful video ♥
+Deko Ideen mit Flora-Shop Thanks!
Do you recommend elephant hide paper?
I haven't tried. It might be a bit thick to achieve nice detail on the snail shell.
Excellent finish nice
Great model and great tutorial ! Thanks a lot. I will try to build it when I will be back from holidays :)
I hope you have a great vacation and folding this snail will be a nice welcome-home activity. :)
Thank you for the video. I will try this one.
I'd love to see your result!
amazing!! super easy and the instructions are super clear!! thank you!!
You're welcome!
The part at 15:22 is a bit confusing :/
Tx. Folded it with a bit of delay 😉... I particularly appreciate when you publish the diagrams as well (big thank you to the author, of course)

It is too hard for me

Wonderful work! It will take me a couple of tries to get this right.
I'm glad you like it. And you know what they say: practice makes perfect. :)
One word; Fabulous

Yes, it was long overdue. I'm glad you also enjoy my videos revisiting models.
Wow awesome design and it seems like too complex when I try to fold it was too easy to understand. Thanks for letting teach us a awesome design
I'm really glad to hear that! Congrats on folding the snail!

Das freut mich! Manchmal ist man doch überrascht wie viel Spaß es machen kann ein etwas anderes Modell zu falten.

Hi, Same here, did you solve it?
This model look a lot cooler than I though. Seemed like it was flat. Great video! Must try this out sometime.
Yes, the 3D shape is pretty amazing!
1:40 I do not partake in witchcraft so it’s shocking that this is in the video

I love it my favorite is snail paper car 🚗 🐌
The shell of the snail reminded me to the "Navel Shell" by Tomoko Fuse, but awsome video :D
Well, most snail shells have this sort of spiral pattern. :)
Hi Sara greetings from India. Nice Model.
Thanks.
Yay new video :D
Yes, I've got new videos lined up for every Saturday until end of September. :)
Its pretty complex but i'd say you just have to get used to it and you'll get the hang of it ^^
Everything was really good, until i started to work with the shell, seems like I need more paper cause I just have 4 sections not 13, I don't know why :(
I'm gonna try again, love your tutorial.
I just do it its really amazing thankss
Video time: 18 Minutes

Instructions not clear, hand stuck in a toaster.
Shiri means butt in Japanese
We could also say it means "to know": shirimasu - and Shiri definitely knows her stuff origami-wise. :)
Haha i'l tell her, it's a common name in Israel
Shiri is my sister, this piece of information could have really been useful for me when we were kids
fantastic model but the shell its a bit hard
Lets just say I gave up
You must go slower in your demonstration please!
I'm sorry to hear the demonstration was too fast for you.
