Tony doesn’t get justice. He dies tragically, and alone just seconds later from the wounds of this encounter. Censoring this scene is a crime against art.
I think the bad guy is a metaphore for Susan's mother, because she is the one who called him weak, and the other guy who did what Lue did, is a metaphore for Susan because she just did what her mother said; Lue was more agressive and had more lines to Tony, the other guy just went along
@@nina84374 watch it again. When Susan breaks Tony’s heart on the street, Aaron Taylor Johnson’s car is sitting right behind her. There’s a BUNCH of visual breadcrumbs tying Susan to ATJ’s character. Outside of countless breadcrumbs, she left him had an affair and an abortion, basically removing his wife and daughter from his life. I’m not making this up just watch an interview with Tom Ford. It’s about revenge by way of well written fiction. That’s the whole point of the movie.
Ray might be one of the most disgusting characters I’ve ever seen but he really does have a point lmao. At that point you gotta kill the guy wtf are you waiting for
He's looking for something that isn't there. He's not satisfied with just killing him he somehow wants to see the guy regret what he did. If not out of conscience, out of the consequences that he's about to suffer. But the guy just doesn't give a fuck. Reminds me of that scene in the Count of Montecristo. Where Edmond finally has Mondego at the tip of his sword, helpless, and the latter just scoffs at him and pretty much fully accept that he's done but refuses to give Edmond any kind of respect or apology. And Edmond, despite having executed his whole revenge plan flawlessly, still feels completely empty upon realizing that he is inflicting nothing on Mondego. Mondego already knows who he is and knows he's acted like a dick. It's not like he's just coming to grips with how bad a person he is or how much he's made others suffer. He knew it all along, he just didn't care. Same with this guy here as I see it. He has absolutely no regret, isn't feeling sorry for himself because he's about to be gunned down. He fully accepted the risks behind the type of acts he committed. He'll do as he like while he lives but he doesn't actually care that much about his own life. So having this angry guy pointing a gun at him doesn't really phase him at all. It's all part of the game for him. And Gyllenhaal's character just isn't getting enough out of this squeeze.
@@maya-amf3325I think you did a really great job of drawing a parallel to that book, of all things. Thank you for making me think even harder about this! Very excellently worded also 🤙
