I feel that judging if a boy turns into a man by their appearance is superficial at best. For example, does it make a the hawker uncle, who endured heat, cuts, long grueling working hours, having to deal with difficult customers to put food on your table, less of a man then a clean shaven, suit wearing guy?
I think a boy turns into a man is when he knows where his responsibilities lie and working hard on it. Appearance is just something to add on top of a man, not definition.
i will NOT tolerate this backpack slander!! backpacks are utilitarian: the weight is evenly distributed, there can be so much more compartments and most importantly if you need to run (which is something you should always anticipate), backpacks are the least obstructive!!

True, briefcases look cooler than backpacks with formal wear. But a real man/woman should know how to appreciate the practicality.
Not trying to perpetuate materialism, but it may be fun to have a tdk series talking about your hobbies or showcasing your collections such as bags, toys, clothes, watches, shoes and maybe even cars for both men and women. Think of it like a lifestyle series. Also, don't bash watch lovers, jp is right, they r just appreciating the product from various perspectives, such as visual design, complexity of mechanical design or technological advancement as an analogue tool, etc. If u distill it down to the essence, it's just the ability and/or affinity to appreciate the subject (maybe a topic, maybe the products of the topic and hence, subject).
What is something that men do that women REALLY don't care about?! Let us know

Gym membership - Nay. You don't need a gym to be fit. Can jog outside too.
Hair- Yay. Something that fits your head and face.
Skincare products- Yay. Shows you really take care of yourself. But there are those people with severe eczema conditions or other skin illness, so gonna be careful when assuming.
Suit- Erm, even at my age...i don't own one myself. It really depends on which industry you are in right? If you don't have the chance to use it at least once a month, then it becomes a white elephant. And you really don't need a suit to attend wedding dinner.
Game- Since when is playing console/pc game a sign of boy? *Triggered.. Isn't that a hobby that one can healthily engage in while still committed to one's family and work? Or is it insinuated that one has to engage in expensive hobby in order to seem like a man?
I'm a dad of two kids. I teach them, play with them, talk to them, bring them out, take care of them, spend quality time with them. And at the end of day, when they are sleeping, I just play a game of Dota to chill. Does it make me less of a man? Haha. 😂
Luxury items- Can't afford and wouldn't bother to own one. But that's definitely not a sign of a man. Thats just the results of companies marketing and social media advertising.

jon paul's justification for 'appreciation' of luxury products makes him sound like a sucker who falls for marketing hype and peer/social pressure to keep up with perceived standards for what is 'good'. nothing wrong with enjoying expensive things if you can afford it but wah lau, don't make it sound more lofty than what it really is lah - simply a vanity hobby.
