I think it's abundantly clear that this site isn't simply a natural phenomenon. So what era is it from? Roman? More recent? Why is there an altar that appears to be very worn down, and rock walls made from the stone blocks? If it's just a quarry why would they create the walls there? And what about the wells? Clearly the metal bars covering the wells are much more recent, but they were probably added later to keep people from falling into them. You can see much more of the very mysterious ancient history of Malta in the other video I recorded on the same day: ruclips.net/video/z9YQ0Blwd8g/видео.html
I would guess that these wells are rather carved out water reservoirs to collect all that precious rain water. The whole place is a quarry, that's for sure.
The cart ruts. What about this idea: They were used by slaves, back and forth, back and forth, constantly , back and forth for hundreds of years. that's how they also became so deep. and we get the saying " caught in a rut" . it may have originated from something like that. or because they were so deep, perhaps they got caught in a rut ??? Just a thought that came to me. Thank you for your very interesting and informative videos.
@@vasilisiatropoulos3474 Hmm, interesting, that seems possible, they're underground water tanks instead of wells. One way to find out, go inside and find the bottom.
I love how you when you traipse around on tiny islands it feels like you’re the ONLY person around😂 Everyone’s taking a siesta and Gabe is discussing rock formations for our benefit
Given that the history of Malta goes back so many millennia, it’s undoubtedly a site that shows human activity in many different eras. I would suspect it was an ancient quarry, but also the site of many settlements, perhaps a town. The more recent phenomena (the ladder going down and the things you called “wells”) might well go back to WW2. If you watch the movie Malta Story or otherwise researched what happened on the island in that war, you’ll understand why I think those “wells” might have been air vents linking to an underground chamber (probably linked to past quarrying) where civilians hid from the near-constant air raids that the Maltese had to endure.
Congratulations Gabrielle Morris. Life can be pretty boring when you focus on just fine print. I must be frank. I'm been on the run lately & have missed all your reports from Spain, Amsterdam(Holland), Malta & just recently Greece. Suprisingly I feel a little deflated. BUt for some time I was fortunate to feel happy after watching your adventures criss crossing Australia, Indonesia,Thialand & Malaysia. Your visit to tropical paradise Bali opened my eyes. Thank You
Have a look at Valetta foundation. It's all rock cut ... enormous in scale. Its not done by Roman not Arab not English. Highly ancient , truly spectacular
Hi Gabriel, it's hard to tell what's ancient or not it has no markings on the stones most of the stones have been destroyed so it's in disarray and neglected.

Wondering if it’s an old bathing lake or reservoir given the grilled over holes that look like wells to draw water up? Perhaps the altar like structure might suggest it could be a religious connection- baptism or something? Who knows?! You certainly find some interesting places! 👍🏻
Much of the drystone "fences" that you've shown are typical around Greece. You can research the subject of drystone in Greece. I'll take a guess that the ruins you are seeing in this video are from the Mycenaean period. Im hardly an expert but my family is from Filiatra so we know everything. lol
I would absolutely love to someday, but not as long as Putin is in power. I made a video criticizing the war in Ukraine, so I wouldn't take the chance of getting arrested there.
Hi great work pal .i love greace to i no you are so big in the youtube world can you tell me how and your camera tricks .i am up to 30 k views just for my trips away .michael collins thanks G
As a long-time watcher, I have decided to stop watching your videos until you leave Greece. I get it, you love Greece but it seems dull with your videos showing lots of rocks and few people. Seeing tons of rocks for the last three weeks in countless videos where you move from one rocky scene to another is getting just plain dull.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos Will you be hiking around rocks there? (Your best videos have lots of people where you interact with them or you show how they live.)

Those walls look more like leftover unquarried rocks.

Hi Gabe, we were in Malta during the pandemic. Not too many tourists and we had a great time.
Hi from Chicago USA ...You were my covid distraction.. I feel like I should say thank you for that. 🤗
Amazing. Such wonderful, beautiful ruins.

Everyone is first ❤.. love to watch Gabe's video. Thanks! Satu/India.
Beautiful! As a world traveling CEO, I always look for beautiful ruins to make travel videos.

Don’t get carried away….everything looks ancient in Malta and Gozo. 👍🏼
Stunning
What Malta is nice great video Gabe
That rental car seems extremely expensive per day! And then you have to pay fuel on top!? I had no idea Malta cost so much..
The Greek island of Tinos is among the best. It has 66 villages and every village is a piece of art. It has Catholic community also.
Hi Gabe, thank you for showing us very interesting site. Chaos
nice video

Looks like a quarry to me.
We need the ominous Graham Hancock music 😂
Where in Malta was this?
Just a random place on the side of the road, so I can't explain the exact location.
The answer is aliens.
Wow Gabe your beard grew back fast 😂

May be stupid question but do you ever plan to visit Russia?

Next time you want to rent a car, don't fall foul of the tourists rates!
So do II, it had to be made by humans
First. I think 😂...Yiamas Gabe!
Second. ✌️
Definitely not natural.
Also, it looks more like a quarry than a settlement.
🎉🎉😂

I will be leaving Greece and heading to the mountains in about a week.

Hello what are you doing amigo how are you doing, have a good walk greetings 😊
I have family in Malta and they suggested it could be from the Victorian Lines. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victoria_Lines
Ever thought about visiting Iran?
Yes, I would love to, it looks fascinating.
