I have a great Derek Jeter story.
His retirement year the Yankees played the Cardinals in St. Louis; it was so great what Derek did. I was one of the only ones around with a Yankees shirt, a white Nike cotton shirt. They see my shirt, see me staring, and Ill just stare. That's our Yankees! And I'm field side, third base side. I was embarrassed at first, thats our Yankees. I'm watching Teixeira, Cano and Jeter standing there out at shortstop/ shallow outfield talking and looking looking at me look at them and we're all just staring, they're talking and I'm locked in. I didnt wanna embarrass myself lol. And Derek, hes so cool, he says something to them, turns and takes one or a half step and jumps into the air like the Jeter/Jordan Logo. It was one of the coolest things ever. They look over a bit more. I dont know if I waved or what. I just stared. We just watched, looked alike. I never thanked them, I looked over in the visiting dugout which I was seated by. Those guys gave me and those around one of the best moments, those moments were the best moments of that day or that year. Watching the Yankees and my favorite player: Derek Jeter on my favorite team: the Yankees, like one of our favorite athletes: Michael Jordan.
Thanks Jesus! Thanks Derek! Thanks MJ! Thanks Alex! Thanks from reading. Thanks so much.

It honestly really bummed me out as a kid that these two were best friends but by the time they were teammates they didn't really like each other anymore. I'm almost certain that was part of the reason why Arod was so bad in the playoffs in his first few Yankee seasons. He always was someone who could get in his own head. But he obviously turned it around in 2009.
Now they're in a better place, although clearly not best friends, but it's nice to see them reminiscing and hanging out on purpose.

I hear a lot of people talk smack about the Yankees being The Evil Empire !! We build our foundation from the farm !! Then, we fill in the gaps with people who can take us to a higher level !! I see a lot of teams who are 1-2 players away from a run but, they won't pull the trigger to help improve the line up for great players !! Our fan base has high expectations because we in general know what a championship team looks like !! Our roots are stronger than any professional team !! Hate all you want but I would only consider it envy !!
