  • I was digging through my files on my old external hard drive and found this video which I recorded of an Amber Alert that went off on my now deceased Midland WR-100 just as I was getting ready to leave for school. Back when NWS/NOAA was still using the Console Replacement System (CRS) to generate their Alerts and messages. All Alerts and Statements were read by Donna, while forecast, weather conditions, river stage reports, etc. we're read by Tom. And Igor announced current time, and transmitter callouts. I decided to take the opportunity to record the message before I left. After which, I took the weather radio to school with me to hear any updates that they would send as an EAS. And just after morning announcements, my radio went off in the class, updating us that the abducted child was found safe. This message was from the National Weather Service Office in Jackson, KY; serving the Morehead Listening Area in East Central Kentucky. Station WWG61 in Stanton broadcasting on 162.550 MHz.
