  • Earlier this week, I traveled to Stanton, KY to catch this footage of this long time replaced STH-10. According to a fellow firefighter, this siren got replaced in 2000 or 2001. The STH-10 continued to stand deactivated right beside its replacement siren, a 2001-SRNB, until it finally got taken down in early 2015. And it's just laid here by the 2001 ever since. And I don't expect anything much to happen to it, at least for now. These sirens are located beside the Powell County Health Department and the cemetery on North Main Street in Stanton, KY. Powell County is filled with just 2001-SRN's Except for a Model 5 at the Clay City Police Department. About two miles away from it is also a smashed up 2001 on Black Creed Road. The siren itself is intact, but a Truck apparently rear ended the pole which smashed the meter. It's been like that for years now, with plans to repair it for a long time.

atomic gamer I’m not sure. This siren hasn’t ran in 20 years. My worst concern is if the chopper motor will still work if I wire it up. And if things like the bearings are still in good condition. But once that’s done, I’ll probably growl it every now and then. And maybe a little drill windup. Only time will tell though.

Yes. I’ll talk with my fellow firefighters in the future and see if we can get it. If not, I’ll try to get it myself after I have a few more years experience in the Fire Service.

Yes. I’ve seen some videos of them before when I was a kid. It’s sad though there aren’t a whole lot of them out anymore.
