Hundreds of Birds ‘Free Fall’ Out of the Sky

  • It’s a perfectly calm moment in Mexico, when suddenly, something mysterious falls from the sky! It’s a flock of black birds swirling to the ground, and it’s absolutely stunning. Hundreds and hundreds of the birds appear like a plume of black smoke. Within seconds, many of them fly off, but a considerable number are killed upon impact, left scattered on the ground. While it looks like they’re just free falling, Miami Zoo’s Ron Magill says that they were actually on the run from a predator.

Magnetic anomaly, pulse. Birds as a flock, lost their up/down bearing same as stunt aerobatic pilots sometimes do during manuevers. Entire flock dived, lost track of how close to the ground they were, slammed into the ground full speed. Most got up, flew away but a number of them died on impact.

There’s literally an electric pole right behind the birds and the only way it appears to go is not left or right but rather forwards and coming towards the camera. Obviously it’s because 2 of those birds were on a different line which replicates Negative and Postive, and both of those birds touched to form a closed circuit resulting in a SHOCK.
That Guy made no sense. If there was a hawk, they wouldn’t drop out of the sky like that. School of fish don’t even do anything like that while a shark swims through and that’s the closest comparison to a group of birds and a hawk.

I disagree with most of the comments here. It pretty much might have been a predator, a silent drone or anything very unexpected popping suddenly from above. Flock dynamics would do the rest. Just watch the video in slowmo frame by frame. You will see that the birds actually create a ball-like shape, like an explosion in mid-air would. So unless a bomb exploded mid-air, it must have been something in the very midst of flock that scared them badly. This was certainly not a free fall. A free fall has exactly opposite parameters: starts slowly, then accelerates. Here the dive starts in fastest and slows down gradually.

I've seen this several times. They're merely flying along with the group like how sheep would follow each other without knowing where they're going. They just go with the flow. Some of the maneuvers involve sharp dives.
Obviously if you're flying in a pretty dense flock, you're not going to be able to clearly see what's ahead of you, this is what caused some of the birds to smack into the pavement and die.
Imagine you're running in a dense crowd headed towards a cliff. The people at the front will see the cliff and move aside, but the people in the middle will not be so lucky and end up falling off by not reacting fast enough, and/or by being pushed off by an equally oblivious group behind them..

The hawk predator theory is bunk. Birds don't race for the ground to get away from a hawk or falcon.
It is most likely the flock got caught in a Dry Microburst... which is common in warm climates, like you see in Mexico, the Southwestern US, & Northern Africa, especially over paved surfaces.
This is when a cooler patch of air suddenly collapses down from being surrounded by an updraft of much warmer air, which is a phenomenon that happens at very low altitudes from upto 2000 feet Above Ground Level.
The flock had plenty of lift from the surrounding updraft, but when they flew into the cooler downdraft, they quickly lost altitude as the air pressure was much greater above them than it was below them, & they didn't have the strength to fly through it.
Helicopter pilots have to be keenly aware of these types of downdrafts, when flying in hot dry weather, as they routinely fly under 2000 feet AGL.
All pilots have to be aware of them during takeoff & landing.

What would be 'going on with the world'? We don't need animals "acting strange" to know about climate change. So what could it be? There could be many explanations for this, sometimes some birds flock up too big and lose direction, it may have been an electric wire, a predator, etc.
