Not when he joined the u.s. military who has an obvious history of constant war crimes since after WW2. Every war after was an imperialist war, killing millions in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and still deformities from babies born from bombs dropped decades ago. That's not even including dozens of other wars, war crimes and covert operations for government overthrows as the u.s. has overthrown more than 50 foreign governments to exploit resources and slave-labor for u.s. corporations. Could go on and on.
Canibus was ahead of his time. I remember being a kid and listening to "Channel Zero" and being terrified and fascinated by the stuff he was saying. Shame he isn't more well known but he's cemented his place in hip-hop history.
A beast that was underrated in the industry, but his music is better than what I'm hearing now.
@@TheRealist2024 definitely. His debut album was poorly received but I think part of that was also the blowback from beefing with LL who held a lot of sway in the industry. Playing it back today, it's a damn good album. The beats could have been better,but they aren't horrible. I wonder if he hadn't beefed with LL, how his career would have ended. The industry really never was receptive to rappers like Canibus.

I met Canibus a couple months ago, he did a show here and I got the Meet and Greet tickets, we chopped it up for a good hour and he told me all sorts of stories like these. I'm glad he's out there sharing them cuz I could have talked to him for hours. Heard some crazy shit. And he never said 'Eminem' he always referred to him as 'Elvis'

Sees through the matrix and has been rapping about it for like 20+ years but so underappreciated and he seems to live in a slightly limited version of himself because of all the criticism over the years and even today the best interviews he does really don't touch on his true wisdom and talent and it's a shame he keeps having to lower himself and vibe with people that still don't seem to really appreciate the artist they are talking to. Like this man is capable of really breaking some shit down and he's capable of making some pretty mind boggling music if he throws off all the creative and personal limitations he puts on himself. When his album came out in the late 90s, quality hip hop was being pushed out the mainstream. Think abour it, B.IG had passed in 97, radio rap was becoming flashy and basic. Canibus was a golden era caliber mc! He belonged in that category with Nas and Wu, like 93-94. Its unfortunate that his debut album didnt come out in the early 90s instead of late 90s.

If canibus came out in 93, he wouldve had 3 whole years,(93 to 96), to cement his name and he ***wouldve*** had widespread acclaim like nas and the wu.
