As a person who has worked in stage lighting for the past 5 years, lights like these are great for beginners and pros wanting something cheap. The only issue with them is if you purchase them over long spans (such as purchasing 2 for a show and then needing more in a couple months) they usually end up being different builds and so the channel lists are incorrect or different from the originals, this usually ends up with you having to make new fixture profiles. Also they tend to break faster than professional lights (to be expected at the price) overall these ones are fantastic. Also, I would highly recommend against using XLR cables instead of DMX. It does work but the issue you will end up having in more professional fields is you might accidentally get confused and switch up your cables you can brick your lights, also with impedance XLR is 75 ohms where DMX is 110 ohms so you will actually be degrading your signal and may come into issues with runs over 10 ft. When it comes to using DMX in shows I recommend Enteccs open DMX pro box, it allows you to use DMX over USB and is great for PC softwares if you are using FPP or something similar. If you are using a dedicated controller with ethernet however use that. I hope this comment helps anyone with issues :D
Do you have any recomnendations for a similar featured fixture than can be about 10' diameter at 50' away? (using 2 to light up front platform in our church) (even better, and worth paying more if the size can be adjusted)
I was an LD in several nightclubs in the late 80’s early 90’s. Back then Vari-Lite were the only moving head fixtures and were only used in touring shows. We used Cyberlights in most of our installations. They were amazing effects at the time.
@@6-Iron Thats dope, i'm not an LD as I have no skills in that matter, but I am a board operator. Now days im in college for cyber security but every once in a while I catch myself starting at a sharpie or two.
Very good video. I really like that you are open about your actual experience with the product and Temu. I think you did a very ethical review/promotional video.
The code is only for new users. I did forget to mention that I have some experience with Temu. Prices, shipping, returns and cancelling orders all good. The amount of BS with "promotions" and "discounts" SUCK! They will really try to suck you in to spending more to get more discounts. If you are careful and really pay attention though, it is manageable.
This was something I was a little concerned about since I've heard of the problem before, but haven't had any experience with it. I'm just glad so far though that I haven't heard of anyone being scammed by or anything by this, and they are at least able to get the product
With these not being rated for outdoor use, curious what a dome/enclosure would cost, to make these work in areas that are cold, and get rain, ice and snow.
Yes I do agree. I haven't had a chance to look into that yet and I wasn't planning on adding these to the show until next year just because I don't have the time. But I'll make sure to share whatever I use to weatherproof them!
I have three of the really cheap ones I paid $65 a piece for them and I really like them they really do work but mine only has nine channels and two of them is for reset and the pan and tilt speed and I like your videos so keep them coming
This might be a dumb question and it isn't related to this video, but I'm new to pixels and was a little confused. If I were to have multiple props in my show, would I have to connect each one of them to a separate port on the controller? Like if I were to have a line of mini trees, would I have to connect each tree to an individual port, or could I daisy chain them all together and just tell Xlights where each one starts and ends on the chain? Thanks!
You can do either of those options! Xlights allows you to connect props to a single port in almost anyway, or even connect a single prop over multiple ports (if it's a large prop). The only thing is you have to be aware of the max pixels your controller can support on a single port.
I have a question. I’m starting my first Christmas show next year and I’m learning now. Just simple dumb question but do you plug the Ethernet from your controller to your computer you are running the show on?
Awesome video as usual. Thanks for making this video. After watching your video I purchased 4 of them, Any chance you could share the model for them in Xlights?
What I've done for this demo is just put in a "DMX general" model basically just allows you to control each channel, but doesn't show you much in Xlights. When I do set these up for next year's show, I'll probably use the "DMX moving head advanced" model. It allows you to actually visualize the moving head in Xlights and see it move in the sequences. Right now, I'm not quite sure how to set it up since I've never done it before, but once I do figure it out I possibly will make a tutorial.
Totally unrelated question, but I'm having trouble understanding on making my own power injection wires and with how to add a fuse to it, and setting it up. Do you think you can do a newer and more specific video on how to make power injection wires?
I didn't have a plan to update my power injection video anytime soon just because I thought I covered mostly everything in it. Is there a specific problem you're having or a specific thing you can't understand that I can maybe help you with here?
@@How2Pixel You explained how power inject works and how to do it perfectly! I was just wonder on the process of making the DIY power injection wire. (specifically on how you attached a fuse in the middle of the pigtail)
Oh ok, it was quite simple. I just took 2 single 16 AWG wires, soldered on an in-line fuse holder you can find at a lot of hardware stores, and then cut the wires to be the same length. Next, I soldered the negative wire of a pigtail to the wire without the fuse, the positive wire to the wire with the fuse, and then tapped off the data wire on that pigtail since it goes to nothing. Finally, I put electrical tape all around the 2 wires from the bottom all the way to near the top, that way it seemed like one single wire with a pigtail on the end.
Wonder if you can make a simple enclosure using Plexiglass to seal the unit while allowing the bottom to open on a grate of some sort for ventilation or if it would fog up in the Rain and Snow. Curious what you come up with.
That's what I was thinking too. However, the top would have to be a dome to make the beam not look weird. I won't be able to figure out anything for this year's show, but next year I will!
One thing to note is that the beam will usually appear to be a lot brighter from the perspective where it's shining towards you rather than away from you as it bounces off particles in the air.
@@How2Pixel I have four smaller DMX moving headlights and was able to get clear acrylic globes from Amazon. They look like a giant goldfish bowl. I have not set them up outside yet but I hope that helps. I would imagine that they would need a couple fans setup underneath to provide airflow because of the heat generated by these type of lights.
Hi Nick I'm currently working on a Tesla show and my image in the sequence tab got deleted, do you know how to get it back,? Thanks this would really help
Do you mean the background image you set in the layout tab to be able to see what the lights would look like on the house (or Telsa in this situation?) Did you move the image to a different folder on your computer or delete it by some chance? Have you tried selecting the file for the picture again in the layout tab?

I completely understand. There's a tiny sticker underneath that says they're from "Dongguan tong global industrial", but I couldn't find much info when I looked them up.
@ thank you for your reply! I’ve been looking for an rgbw light source, since those are much easier to sequence in light-o-Rama. (We still use light o Rama!) I later realized that these is a color wheel mixing system, so I’ll keep looking. They did look pretty bright, though.
You should totally sequence a little something for the two of them you have, or one if you had to return the one. Just a little something with the rest of your show.
I was thinking about it, but I'm so busy right now that I don't think I can get it done 😂. However I will definitely be adding them to the show next Christmas!
I tried to purchase four of the items through the website on a new account using a Windows desktop with Firefox, following the link in your description. The total came to $555 plus tax for all four items. When I applied your $100 discount code, I got the message, "Sorry, only for new users." It seems the code didn't recognize my new account.
