    The Pepsi story was hilarious. But, as an American, I cant help but think "The main reason many people around the world like us is not because of our freedoms, our democracy, our constitution or our ethnic and cultural diversity, it's because of PEPSI and BLUE JEANS".
    I have never seen that Gorbachev Pizza Hut commercial in the US.

    • @shreddiekrueger359
      @shreddiekrueger359 3 года назад

      I would argue the USSRs constitution was superior in every way. The right to education (including higher education), healthcare, work, equal rights to woman decades before the west.
      The USSR was also extremely culturally diverse with full and equal rights granted to all nationalities and races. Russia is very big, it borders China so there is a lot of diversity.
      Your right though, Russians did long for market reform (access to luxury items) but not the illegal dissolution of their country and the rights it provided.
      America is also one of the most hated nations around the world. They have occupied bases in nearly one hundred countries. People don’t like that. They like their sovereignty respected.

    That ridiculously long line at McDonald's got me thinking that maybe Russian people are the best example of what Yoda says in Star Wars: "do it, or don't, but try not". As Russians would either not do something, or do it to the top of their effort and possibilities. No halfway measures. Not a bad attitude towards life if you ask me.

It took about 9 hours for someone to call me in and handle my case. For a couple days most students in my campus had all our passed curses/subjects gone from our files until they got restored x)

    These types of fast food restaurants produce the most unhealthy artery clogging food in the world. The corporations that own these restaurants are experts at marketing and propaganda. They heavily contribute to why America has the highest obesity rate in the world among it's citizens.
    Regarding these types of food places opening in Russia, I like to think it's more of a fascination or curiosity of American culture, than the food itself. I believe this was the reason for these long lineups. I would doubt, and be quite surprised, to find line ups such as this in Russia today for these places.

    I I really enjoyed this bit with fast food in Russia. It was very entertaining. Do you have any fish and chips over there?

    do you miss Russian foods while you are in the United States? It occurred to me that I don't know of any Russian restaurants in my area (St. Louis, Missouri). There are restaurants for virtually every country or nation in the world except Russia. I do know that Asians and Latinos hunger for authentic cuisine here in the states and I was wondering if there are foods that you miss and cannot find here. I enjoy your videos. Please keep up the good work.

    I'm all for jeans and sneakers, they should have kept the fast food out.
    I lived in a remote community in the Canadian Arctic for a year and people would have fast food flown in. Yay...old, cold fast food at 100x the price....what a bargain. 😂

    Okay real quick, glasnost and perestroika were not Gorbachev's idea, but an earlier brainchild of Deng Xiaoping called Gaige Kaifang. Difference was, it worked in China.

    Yikes is when you experience something that makes you feel strangely uncomfortable... for example, your uncle hitting on you, or seeing a ghost.

    Have you heard that McDonald's decided to buy a large farm in Russia and brought in potatoes from the US because it was very important to them that their fries taste the same. They needed the same variety of potatoes. :)

    Great reaction and the Golden Arches Franchise! Sign note on an Mc Donalds signs this is the 1970s-80s as a child said # of million burgers sold changed yearly! All fast foods franchise! My mom and family ate at the first McDonalds in Illinois, USA. in 1955 in the fourth one in Downey, California USA II ate at this one my whole life as born & raised in So Cal! Find one every city literally 10 minutes apart nationwide now in Los Angeles, CA.! Downey restaurant is still there! Back then .10 cents for cheeseburgers! Eat whole meal fries soda under .50 cents! Now with inflation whatever the cost 65 years later still a strong franchise globally! Value meals came later in the USA if not seen check out a movie called Supersize me! Think that's the name about eating fast food three meals a day! I remember when Pepsi did that deal and was in the newspapers! Reading this in disbelief! All fast-food chain restaurants globally make billions globally! Especially now with pandemic and fast food a gold mine in the USA!
