I backed my x5 into the garage this morning and bam same exact issue. Looks like a pretty straightforward fix. Jokes aside I think the part is slightly different since mine is 2023, but thanks to this video I have a better understanding of the mirror assembly, got the part today from BMW and i'll have a go at it with a friend of mine this weekend hoping for the best, cheers.
@@panzers9484 they are just some plastic pry tools I got from harbor freight. They are nice for prying on plastic or interior parts you don't want to scratch or damage with something like a screwdriver.
Ordered the part from AliExpress for $23 and replaced as you showed. The only thing is mine does not have that first connector you unplugged after removing the back cover, and the connector after removing the mirror. Only the two small wires were attached. Other than that it was quite straightforward. Thanks again.
Good Video, I thought I needed the whole assembly until I saw this video. I only need the support ring and lower housing both parts for less than $100.
Thank you for this video! This is the exact thing that happened to my 2019 X5. The dealer wanted $2600 to fix it. The motor and everything works, it’s just cracked. I will be buying the parts at OEM and find someone to fix it. Great info!
Thank you for the video. I just had my mirror clipped by the garage with almost exactly the same kind of damage. Now I will just look for the exact part to fix it.
I need to do the exact same thing, drivers side. Mine has camera/lane departure warning too, I think it looks like yours. Can you tell me the part number you bought?
This is what i wanted to see. Thanks for this. I have a question. What is the name of broken parts? Mine is also borken same as you. But i cannot find parts in korea. I might be able to buy amazone. Thanks.
This was really helpful! My same part was broken backing out in the cold weather and its just cracked off with little resistance! Only advice to others is I didn't need to take the back side off. Just the mirror and then take off the screws and replace. I ordered mine from Turner Motor sports for $50 shipped in 2 days. I backed my x5 out of the garage last night and bam same exact issue. Looks like a pretty straightforward fix.
I didn’t have too much trouble with it. Best of luck!
I've just done mine aswell on Sunday , ,hoping it's the same for 2018 f31

@@bmwdad5128 Actually, do you know what those strips you inserted into the gap to get the mirror cap off are called? I’ve never seen those before

It’s ridiculous how much they charge. I purchased the motor for $26 and the covers each part for $49. Spent under $150 total and I’ll do it myself.

Anyone come across a video on changing a camera on the underside of the mirror? Can't find one anywhere.

Wing mirror support ring. Part number, as always, VIN/Chassis number dependent.

Where can I buy this parts?.. I have the right passenger mirror with the same problem..!
Where is the camera located?
Under the mirror-- it was not damaged or replaced in this video
Underneath.
