It's great how the show remembered its past during its last week on the air. The Karr, Grimsley, Capice, and Marceau families were the core of Edge during its early years.
I totally agree. Longtimers would remember Winston and Mattie Lane Grimsley, and Sarah Louise as the adopted daughter of leading characters Phil & Louise Grimsely Capice.
I have been very impressed with the small touches the writers have done to incorporate mention of a lot of past history with Laurie's return home. From Laurie walking through the house at first to going through the Christmas ornaments, a lot of past characters have been brought up in a natural and organic way that hasn't felt forced. Miles saying goodbye to Nicole on the terrace was also a nice touch. I don't know much about the history of Johnny and Laurie. Wasn't he a criminal?
@@fbueller i don't recall hearing anything that brought on Laurie's breakdown in the first place..a lot of detail, probably the reason it ws skipped over?.....
My mom watched Edge of night, Another world, Ryan's Hope, One Life to Live, All My Children, Guiding Light. All the greats GH, days of our lives, Young and the Restless. Secret Storm, As the world turns. Now most of the soaps are off the air now. Expect GH, Young and the restless, days of our lives and bold and the beautiful. Also I forgot search for tomorrow, loving and capital all were great. My grandmother watched Passions as well.
I am not going to lie. I have cringed every time Sky has done a voiceover during Raven's kidnapping storyline like he did here at 21:12. I found so many of the voiceovers to be unnecessary. This is a device that I don't remember being used during the Slesar years.
Voice overs were used A LOT during the Slesar years. Practically every other day. In fact it was when Sheldon took over he eliminated that outdated soap standard. That's why I was very surprised to see it brought back since this was Sheldon's first use of voice over. This type of voice over was a bit different however. It was actually Sky narrating his thoughts as he delved into the mystery of Raven's disappearance. Like Jack Webb on Dragnet narrating the events of the crime, this was Sheldon's nod at the old 50s film noir detective movies.
Sorry to have to disagree but I really do like the voice overs here. It was a unique way to present the story, and the way Lee Sheldon presented it had not been done in daytime before. It was reminiscent of a 1930s or 40s radio mystery serial. And Edge was always unique in that way as it was originally presented as Perry Mason in daytime. I enjoyed hearing Sky's thoughts as he tried to piece together the mystery of where Raven had disappeared too. And Larkin's voice is so good and so perfect for they way he played it.
I know it's sad we have reached the end. The last show will be posted on Sunday Jan 29th at 1pm eastern. I will be doing a podcast co hosting with Sharon Gabet, Jennifer Taylor and Mariann Aalda and we will be discussing EON and taking questions for our guests on Sharon's Facebook page.
Podcast and post at same time? Also, I've had difficulty connecting to the podcasts/viewings before. Does Sharon have more than one page? Is there a particular link to use?
On Facebook just type in Sharon Rose Gabet. You won't see all our Edge of Night shows and photos until she "friends" you. For the blog anyone without FB can listen. It's Sunday January 29th Sharon Rose Gabet, Jennifer Taylor and Mariann Aalda! 3PM ET, Noon PT. There will be no call ins. You can also comment live on this page or on the podcast page.www.blogtalkradio.com/njpai/2017/01/29/the-life-and-times-of-the-edge-of-night
No the last show is going up an hour before our podcast. We can't handle both interviews and watching at the same time. We only have 30 minutes and we get cut off. I don't know if I can direct link Sharon's FB page here. But if you just type in Sharon Rose Gabet in the search box, she will come up.
Damn What A Cheap Opening .... I will admit I Never did watch Edge of Night til last year 2017....I have to admit this show had potential and now is definitely a cult following
I watched in regularly from the mid '70s through 1981. (They took it off the air in my hometown., so I saw later episodes in the '80s when cable stations aired it.) Edge was riveting. Always kept you glued.

Loved this show.
Now this was a feel-good episode!
Thanks for the upload !! I miss the old days of the USA Network.!! Xd
OMG!!! I can't believe the writers acknowledged the silliness of Mike and Nancy's twin beds. lol

i saw - heard - Sky's voice-overs more like narration, rather than a thought track......
God, those voiceovers.
