- Another movie/showcase of Shenmue combat. Seriously, there is no other game like Shenmue, its combat is so unique and fun that there are still new combos and techniques to discover!
The Hazuki Jujitsu Style consists of various martial arts styles, most notably Bajiquan, Karate, and Jujitsu.

Games like Shenmue and the classic Resident Evil games are cited as “clunky” and “outdated”, but when the controller is given to someone who has mastered their design, that’s when you realize skill and technique is what makes a game timeless. This video got so pumped up now
Thats the thing that’s kinda irked me the wrong way because its more of a matter of those same people not playing these games and getting the feel for it such as the tank controls for resident evil and the fighting system from virtua fighter in shenmue and because they never played them they say its outdated where if they played these games for an hour or two they’ll get the hang of it and probably enjoy those games!
I got goosebumps again! Watching you fight in shenmue is like watching Michelangelo paint the sistine chapel. Your skills are unequaled sir.
Lol thank you for the metaphoric comment!
I've heard they took the grappling-based moves out of Shenmue 3, which is a huge shame. Grappling and throwing in general is under-represented in martial arts media in my opinion, most of the time. Seeing Ryo use Flying Armbars and various Judo-style tosses is really cool, and I like how he has a blend of Chinese-style striking and Japanese-style grappling. The dodges, footwork, and parries in this game really are ahead of its time, most "brawler" style games have little to no intelligent defense, and you can really use it in a way that helps you dominate the battle, ultimately. Great exhibition of gameplay!
WarriorBoy Exactly why I love Shenmue. It portrays martial arts fantastically. The reason why Shenmue 3 lacked grappling and throwing was because of a lack of budget. An interview with Yu Suzuki earlier this year stated that throwing moves will make a comeback in Shenmue 4. Thanks!
@@thekenjitomaster Yu Suzuki definitely does his homework on martial arts. I didn't know that about the budget. I can see how grappling in a game would be so much harder to program for than striking. Here's hoping he gets the funding he needs for 4 and it doesn't take another 20 years!
WarriorBoy Here’s the source of the interview that I mentioned if you’re interested.

Yu greatest mistake was not made a Virtual fighter game before Shenmue 3.
Then use the resources to build Shenmue 3 and implement Virtua fighter engine in Shenmue 3 like he did with previous games
Perhaps a better choice is if they use Yakuza new Dragon engine in which they remade the new Virtua fighter game to make Shenmue 4
From I’m looking at the hazuki style looks like a cross between baji quan kung fu cause of its solid strikes ,elbows and traps and taido because of all its low kicks and stances
The "Hazuki Style" is kind of lost yet evolved come the end of Shenmue 2, with so many moves from different styles it's hard to tell what exactly is Iwao's legacy.
i think the style is like mixed martial arts style. It also have Bajiquan elbow technique but also Jiujitsu grappling.
Well there's a fun fact to your two-year-old comment, originally Ryo was supposed to be Akira from VirtuaFighter and Shenmue was going to be a VirtuaFighter RPG, so while Hazuki style is supposed to be Karate and Jujutsu mixed together it looks more like Akira's style due to him being the main character originally and his combat style being used.
Great gameplay!! You really show how fun the combat is in Shenmue.
It's almost an ASMR video to me. Wonderful work
Bajiquan is a very interesting kung fu style to watch. I can recognize some of the moves here. Its more obvious in virtua fighter used by akira
Dude I never knew ryo can move like this...if I would've known I would do it too...now I seen all his moves... I seen judo his style and seen taekwondo n kung fu in a way in all this clip....wow you are impressive makes me wanna mix it in with my wing Chun too lol...thanks for this video! And I'm a str8 shenmue fan and I'm disappointed in the 3rd one I hope the 4th comes out asap! So we can defeat Lan di
Thanks! It may seem difficult but compared to 3D fighting games like Virtua Fighter it's very water downed. Also, Yu Suzuki said in an interview that he is bringing back throw/grapple moves in Shenmue 4.
@@thekenjitomaster foreal! I be darn lol...I didn't know he already coming out with 4 already..I really hope it comes out asap...and would be cool if ryo would learn not just kung fu but muay thai and silat etc from different masters...
Hazuki is the best fictional martial artist .
Thanks for the true Hazuki arts! None of games in this era close to that! Shenmue3 were made under fans' pressure. Most of them even blame the game, they didn't know they ruined it tho. Just let Suzuki takes his time to make his own game will be fine. Otherwise, Shenmue3 can rule all action games ever made. Hope Shenmue4 can show the true Hazuki martial art again! Good video!
Thanks! Just checked out your channel and I see Guyver videos! Awesome stuff! Keep it up!
amazing, this is such a great real time rpg fighting system
Awesome video! Great work!
GoodFellaLarry Thanks! Much appreciated!
awesome!
Well there is Fukusan to carry on, perhaps that what he means about what a shame it would be haha.
If only game was more forgivable to the inputs.
I mean, when you push forward+forward+strike it must be exactly forward to the enemy, not just into direction of it. Slightly miss the direction - and your input does not count as the right one.
Ever thought of doing a tas? It would be really fun to watch!
I liked UNCLE kenjie
Lol that was fast. Thanks little man!
Oh man you need to get back to making these videos
@@kid--presentable I don't know if there's anything else I can showcase. Maybe just do a remake of my earlier showcase videos since they were in pretty bad quality. If Shenmue 4 comes out and the combat is top notch, then I'll definitely make more videos!
You are a good Shenmue player, i enjoyed this video very much. I always believed Ryo is a great fighter, because he knows a ton of techniques and i know for sure he could hold his own against the best video game fighting characters and to think he's just 18yrs old 🤜🤛
What did bro do to Fuku-san? It’s just sparring Ryo damn
What is your record time for the 70 mad angels?
@@kid--presentable Fastest time I ever got was 3:19
@@thekenjitomaster Jesus Christ. Mine is 5:13 and I can't beat it .. that's incredible
Don't u mean little Joe
Where do get the scroll for that slide kick?
Nathan B Ah, the slide kick is called “Shadow Reaper”. It can be found in Fuku-San’s room on his desk. If he’s in the room though, you won’t be able to get it.
@@thekenjitomaster i just found it yesterday when i went to snoop in fuku-sans room lol. What are the odds. Thanks for the answer though, i appreciate. Btw i was watching your technique in Shenmue 1 and you are great. I want to kick ass like that in Shenmue HD. Lastly, I wish that Shenmue 3 still had the same time of combat and aesthetics
Nathan B No problem. If you wanna see more combos then check out this out as well: ruclips.net/video/YMQCA7_j8nM/видео.html
And about Shenmue 3, I wish the combat was deep as in Shenmue 1 & 2, but I understand that the developers could only do so much with a small budget. Would’ve been awesome to see and use new throw moves.
I couldn't even do any of these moves lol
Practice, practice, practice lol. By the way, some of these moves can't be done on the HD Ports. Hopefully the development team fixes it soon.
@@thekenjitomaster wow I didn't even know that ! And yes I will keep on trying 😂
01:15 !!!???
date1003 Yeah, a glitch that occurs sometimes. Lol. Ryo can teleport!
That's the Hazuki Style?!
Before there was yakuza there was shenmue
in Japanese I would have liked to see it
El estilo de lucha de Ryo es Jiujitsu
And then Shenmue III abandoned it. Ugh.
how do you combo
gamehead Mosby I can’t really teach you, but you can watch the moves I perform and try to replicate it. A big tip that might help is experimenting with Beginner level moves vs Advanced level moves.
@@thekenjitomaster how do you chain them together
@@thekenjitomaster like is the timing short or long
gamehead Mosby Timing is key as well; when Ryo performs a move, you can buffer another move just right at the end of a move. For example, Roll attack to Mud Spider or a Mud Spider to Crawl Cyclone like at 5:49. Another big tip I can give you is that whenever you see me perform a Throw Move, you might’ve notice that I always sprint, that’s because you have to literally be in front of the opponent in order for the move to be activated, plus you can buffer the throw move at the end of the sprint (as soon as you let go of the “Run” trigger). The best example of this I can give you is at 6:57 the sprint is subtle, but it’s there to close the distance and buffer Arm Break Fire.
@@thekenjitomaster thank you
