    It looks like after all the rain that we had, you were able to finish nicely. High 80's this week for us??? This Norwegian wants some cooler weather already. Take care.

      The weather has been incredible lately but way too dry. We haven't had a drop of rain since September 4th. We'll be down at the Oktoberfest on Saturday. If you're around, drop by Schells!

    You are going to have a great harvest to bring in.
    So interesting that farmers use lime there. We are opposite in the acid scale here.
    It’s hard to wait for the watermelon to be ready.. I agree with Holly. It’s certainly juicy.
    Take care. 🌺

      Every year of corn is the lime. It's amazing how well the corn did. 11 inches of rain in June and now we haven't had a drop since September 4th. Unreal. I hope your harvest is good. Cheers Annette!

    Up in Rush City we got a hard frost. I covered what i could. Pulled all the tomatoes, the deer got a 5 gal bucket of green ones, they gobbled them up. Excited to try the rampicante squash and i have a couple blue hubbards that didnt turn blue. I have green beans and several beds of carrots I'll keep covering as long as the warm days hold out. Cheers from the north!

      I'm betting your beans and carrots will hold out til the end. Looks like Tuesday may have our best chance of frost. We're ready to cover the peas and carrots and try to keep things growing. Time to start planning next year!!

      It was sweet and tasted like a couple different melons. The outside of the melon was soooo different looking. Have a great week!

    Not a bad finish to a soggy year. The melon sounded so good when you cut it. I’ve been too swamped with work to film too. I get it!

      @@TheOldSwedesFarm same here. With the storms in the SE, I went in to RUclips see if Eric in Florida was okay (channel HowdyEB) and your video was top of my feed so while I was prepping for the day at work, I couldn’t resist watching it lol.

    This was a year for tomatoes, and cucumbers. We're eating the late radishes now, but despite watering the late lettuce isn't growing.
    I've been watching for squash at Farmer's Markets but no one has any.
    The Lord gives, and takes.
    We will be fine.
    Takk Skal du har Holly, and Rich.

      I bet it's all the rain you received in June. That definitely impacted our squash and pumpkins. Due to the rain our tomatoes weren't anything special. The cukes produced and produced. Thanks for the update Bryce!!

    Hello! Wonderful harvest and look at all this jalapeños!! I like the idea of preserving them for next year….I may try that too!! I do know in AZ there were people we knew who had bell pepper plants that overwintered. I might try that too! Looking forward to seeing how those do! 😊👍❤️

    Good morning Rich and Holly! Hope all is well. Second planting of Carrots and they are doing well. Will you cover them to extend the growing season for them?

    • @TheOldSwedesFarm
      @TheOldSwedesFarm  4 дня назад +1

      It looks like it'll be in the 70's through next week. Two more weeks above freezing. If we look like we'll have a frost, we'll cover them. Otherwise, we'll let them go. Looks like our summer will continue for a while! Cheers Garry!

    Quite a few squash though! How do you preserve them folks? Do you make relish, jam, etc?

    • @TheOldSwedesFarm
      @TheOldSwedesFarm  4 дня назад +1

      The Waltham squash will be set in the basement on mesh shelving. That'll promote airflow and keep them from rotting. The pumpkins will be kept cool and then kept in the garage to freeze. They'll be given to the chickens throughout the winter.
