This was the most helpful video I could find for this job. I propped it up the whole time and was able to remove and replace the baffler in just over an hour. The top bolt can be a little tricky, but with some persistence and a few swear words, you’ll be up and running in no time!
I am also involved in this project and found this video very helpful. Using a wheel chock was a good idea and removing the handlebars is also a great idea. Thanks for making this video. I've found it to be a good reference in the near future. 5 stars!
Wow! I did it. Thank you. I found putting the mower on a stand to be helpful and having something to hold the upper bolt in place while tightening made it easier. I used a needle nose vice grip. A couple of times I almost gave up but watched your video a couple of times and took a breath! Onward
I have just finished replacing my baffle. I'm so glad I found this video. It really helped. Those top nuts are a pain and bad design and plastic baffle.
The part you’re missing Is called a trailing shield.I have to replace it as well. The one I ordered came with both.so this definitely will save me some time.Thank you.these videos are appreciated.
Thanks for the tutorial and the well laid out video. I had the same thing happen to mine and about to replace it as well. This helped me a great deal. You really breezed through it.
I lucked into a different solution with my 22" Toro Recycler. I had bought the new trailing flap already (and make DARN sure your baffle is totally intact and good. Make DARN sure) and saw that the attaching edge could accept a long rod of some sort. I was looking for something like that in my garage and noticed I had a Harbor Freight super long phillips screwdriver I had. I sprayed silicone spray lubricant on everything, had the flap already in the mower with a wheel off, then shoved the screwdriver through and cut off the excess. Perfect! Those flaps without reinforcement love to pop out and immediately go under the lower to their "death"
I would be interested in how you made a baffle replacement. I have broken two plastic baffles so I tried to fabricate one out of a thicker aluminum. Unfortunately that didn't work too well.
Thanks for the video, it was very helpful. The smaller bolt, which required the wrench on the inside to hold the nut took a lot more effort for me though!
If you haven't done so already, @10:55 what you are talking about is the "Trailing Shield". I would advise that you replace it. They don't cost very much, and it can save you from rocks and other things being slammed into your leg. I skipped replacing it on a mower of mine once, and now have a huge scar from a small pine bark nugget being planted below the skin on the front of my right calf (Through my jeans, no less). $10-15 can save you from a whole lot of pain.
James, thanks so much for the video, it was a big help to me as I had to do the same thing, but I am wondering about the rear baffle as you pointed out, it seems to drop lower than the original one?
Always starts and runs.i have used mine for lawn care for 3 seasons and it’s still going strong.just replace these things and maintain it.About to upgrade to a toro 30” commercial. Can’t go wrong with toro.
I have been trying for 6 hours to get the nut behind that upper screw. That's the hardest part to get baffle on. Baffle is on and the trail shield I needed was on but the upper screw with the nut behind it upper baffle is impossible to get.
Joyce Young you need to locate the exact model number of your mower. It is usually on a white sticker behind the rear flap. Once you have that number, google parts for that model number. Generally you will find model specific diagrams with part numbers. Once you locate the part number you can do a google search to find the best price. See the Jacks small engine link for locations the model sticker could be www.jackssmallengines.com/jacks-parts-lookup/toro-model-locator.aspx
The spring puts pressure on the trail shield on both sides with the small part of the spring in the hole of the metal arm, and the long part on the plastic shield. It should automatically close when you lift the shield up when done properly

The top bolt is hard to reach for sure
Thank you for creating this video. The video clearly shows the process and you talked in a slow-enough speed to follow along.

Nice work!

Yes they are

Where did you get it with both what website ? Are the connected already
Just did this today and the video was helpful. I drained the oil and gas before I did the work. Oil needed to be changed anyway. Thanks
Thanks for the tutorial. My mower was also throwing clippings out by the left rear wheel and some was escaping past the bag as well.
Thanks! Just replaced mine. Couldn’t have done it without your video. Much appreciated.
Very helpful video. I am replacing one right now. I got some good tips from this video. Thank you
Al KP glad to help.
Helps a lot, thank you! Glad you mentioned not tipping it the wrong way and messing up the carb. 👍 I'd have done it if you hadn't said it.

Thanks for the video. I had to make a baffle replacement and your instructions made the process easier.

I just got baffle replacement part in today. Going to install it tomorrow morning. Thanks for the how to do video!!!!
Awesome video, thank you for taking your time to do this, i just order the baffle so gotta wait for it to get here to start wrenching.
Thanks for the video, it was very helpful. The smaller bolt, which required the wrench on the inside to hold the nut took a lot more effort for me though!
Glad I could help. That bolt was a pain also for me.
Thank you. Just ordered the baffle and will take on the replacement job myself.
Mission accomplished. Thank you for the guide, super helpful. Mower cuts clean now! 🎉

Thanks! This helped quite a bit. Although holding the parts in place to reassemble was a tricky.
Thank you for making the video clear to understand!
Thanks, my part will be here tuesday, should be no problem. Time to change oil anyway so I'll dump that first so I should be able to tilt either way.
Very nice and well orchestrated. Ty!
The video helped me with reinstallation. Thanks
2nd I’ve replaced with your video Thanks 🙏🏼
Hell yeah! About to try this tomorrow
Lol wearing tongs to work on a lawnmower what a beauty
Thanks for sharing

Thanks for the help i needed it
Thanks it was a big help
I love my Toro recycler

thank you. You did a great job
Mark Gina Ryan thanks
I have been trying for 6 hours to get the nut behind that upper screw. That's the hardest part to get baffle on. Baffle is on and the trail shield I needed was on but the upper screw with the nut behind it upper baffle is impossible to get.
Used the video as a reference and it was helpful. If you have big hands, the top small bolt is a pain in the ass to get in. Engineers suck
This was extremely helpful however the spring Part I didn't see what the heck you were doing
At he 8:40 mark, how the hell did you put the spring on the chute correctly?
It's easier when you remove handle bar and pull string, which i didn't do and i learned from that mistake, lol
Whats the part number for the side discharge chute?
Is there gas and oil still in the lawn mower
Is it normal for the wheels to wobble? That's the issue I'm having
Its normal for some wobble, but the wheels are plastic and the wobble will get worse over time.
So when I replace my baffler my bachelor was attached to the top whole not on the bottom all that's probably why was too low
Make sure that the long bolt goes in the wheel adjuster. I accidentally put the longer one in the upper part of baffle and cannot get it out.
I got it fixed
How the hell do you put the spring on the rear chute????
Why are you not cleaning the trash off before installing the new parts?
Where can I locate the Baffle for a TORO personal pace 22"

I replaced the baffle 3 times on my toro, they don't last long
The only flaw on those mowers
WHY DON'T YOU HAVE A REAR GUARD?
Thanks but a really crappy demonstration of the spring. After watching this I have no idea how or where this goes.
