    As a Novice content creator who mainly records on a table top setting, I found that it is pretty cumbersome when it comes to changing camera positions. A lot of time is spent on articulating tripods or even switching mounts in order to get a variety of views especially on the extreme ends from down looking to really low angles.
    I saw Ivan Miranda's 3D printed crane on his awesome channel and it occurred to me that a miniaturised crane can actually be used as a universal table top tripod. Unfortunately there are no commercially available cranes small enough to fit on the table and hence I present u the Micro Jib. It is an almost fully 3D printable and very functional crane that still has unexplored potential use cases.
    This entire video is recorded with the Micro Jib using a Sony A7S3 with a 16-35mm F4 lens.
    It has a maximum weight limit of 2kg based oh my constant loading stress testing for over 3 months. Most compact mirrorless and DSLR systems should comfortably fit within that weight limit.

    Great job!
    Add a few stepper motors, pulleys and belts you will have a digital crane. Or almost a 3 axis gimbal.

    You’ve done an awesome job designing this and making it easy to build. I bought your plans and put mine together. I have one issue though. I’ve balanced my crane when it is horizontal, but if the camera is above halfway then I’m load heavy, if the camera is below halfway then I’m camera heavy. What might I have done wrong?

    Definitely buying a 3d printer to make this! If my camera setup is slightly heavier at 2.5kg, would you recommend increasing the rod diameter through the sectional main arm to support the extra weight?

    • @IAmTheFuhrminator
      @IAmTheFuhrminator 2 года назад

      If you have the time/are capable of using a larger diameter rod, then I would. You will also need to include a larder counterweight, or at least one that sits further away from the pivot.

    The design looks great, but what is the reason for the extra smaller beam along camera side?

    • @mechanistic3d
      @mechanistic3d  2 года назад +3

      Thanks! If you are referring to the upper thinner beam, it’s function is to keep the camera level and parallel to the ground as the crane swings up and down. It also serves as additional structural support to handle the camera’s weight
