I just watched your video 30 minutes ago,and went outside and tried this. You are 100% dead on!! The bow jump went away & the groups got tighter.. Thanks for the lessons you give everybody!!!
Jeff ive only been shooting about 1 month with varying success (aiming methods). I watched a tonne of your vids last night, walked into my garage and took my first instinctive shot following all your advice. Burned a hole with eyes in the spot and could not have hit it any more dead centre. I love it. Cheers from 🇦🇺
It works! When I discovered this and started doing this on my own a while back, I started putting a small piece of self-adhesive velcro on my risers to make sure I consistently have my fingers in place.
Ive always struggled with consistinsy. I know a 10 minute session wont tell the whole tale, but the difference trying your grip was substantional!!! Thanks
This is SO useful! I've been shooting since May (ironically, a Samick Sage at 35lbs) and have been using this exact way to grip. The only difference is I've been listening to more experienced archers than me talk about bow slings and barely gripping the bow. Will increase the pressure now and see how I get on, thanks Jeff and greetings from the UK.
Just replaced my bear with the new traditional only NYX was having some grip issues did some fine sanding to round the grip up a bit then used this video ( complete game changer by the way ) and this thing is bare shafting like a laser beam ! I can’t thank you enough
You’re absolutely correct! I learned this a few days ago out of frustration. I’d 12:21 listened to all the advice and it wasn’t working for me. So I just started experimenting and fingertips “dug” into the back of the riser had the greatest positive effect. It does reduce bow torque which also removes string slap, and most importantly puts the arrow more in line with where I’m aiming. A big eye opener for sure.
Lol, I have a Cairn too, I also followed your advice and between that and your vids on back tension and alignment, total game changer, I'm consitantly hitting the spot at 15 yrds (my max hunting distance) touching feathers!
I was always taught to have an open grip then as the bow is shot, grab it. Your suggestion is the single best change in my shooting. I'm amazed at how much it made me more consistent and accurate. Shooting a Satori 19" 35lb med limbs. Thank you 🤗
Good advice Jeff, as usual. I've been shooting trad archery for about 3 years and stumbled upon this grip about a year ago and have been using it ever since. It has really helped my bow control and accuracy. It felt great from the moment I tried it. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Much appreciated!
I watched this video when it first came out. I don't get much opportunity to practice but tried it out this afternoon, I still have a few things to work on but it sure does make a difference. Big improvement in stability, thanks alot Jeff, will definitely keep on using this technique with my grip. Blessings upon you and your family. Highly recommend this.
Hi Jeff, thanks for your very helpfull Video….i just adjusted the grip according your Instruction….and it Realiy works for me…100%…Thanks again and archery regards from Switzerland!
I got too work today, about 1 hour early today, got all giddy because Jeff had another video out, all happy an excited through the hole show, Jeff everything you put out is gold, man, and we know why.🙏Hoping they put you on national TV for a weekly show of Instinctive Addiction every Friday at 7 pm, I will be waiting with my popcorn 🍿 1 hour early 😁👊your awesome my brother 🤝.
Im thinking this may help with my archery induced tennis elbow I have been shooting every second and third day because my bicep elbow and forearm on my bow arm hurts so bad, any tips on what I can do to remedy this?
very interesting demonstration. I can't wait to try it out on my AFB .I have been using the index finger and thumb to lightly hold the bow to try to prevent torque it will be interesting to compare the two completely different grip methods
Jeff, Thanks for the tip. My longbow is light in weight, so this will help. I like your the content of your videos too, very informative. Thanks for making them, and god bless Bob
Hey Jeff, I wonder if you could help fellow longbowmen out by possibly doing a video of how did you find and who you compete with? What you'd recommend to have in way of accuracy and at what distances, etc.
I have to try this!! I thought you switched to split finger? I cant keep up. Maybe im watching old videos. What do you like the best for instinctive.. split or 3 under? Great video! Ill be trying it in a few minutes. 😂
Hey Jeff can you do a video on string suggestions for some of these less expensive bows.I have always used B55 flemish twist on my older bows ,but would like some thoughts on fast flight. Thanks for the great content again and again very insightful.
@@instinctiveaddictionarcher8998 I tried your bow hand hold this morning along with a slight change in my knock position. Shooting our 3D club winter league round of 12 targets of distances from 15 yards to almost 50 yards . Shot my best score of the 18 months I have been involved in archery now 64 years old. When it felt right it was. I tend to rush my shots sometimes and mess it up but came home with a smile. Thanks again for your advice.
Great video! Questions...what string silencers are you using. Also, have you made any videos on how to set up brace height, nock, and silencer installs, etc? May God Bless...Walk By Faith and know that HE is Able!
Okay, most of my strings are from TTT Strings and come with wool puffs however if I’m using one that doesn’t have any I buy the Navajo Wool puffs and they install very easily but the brace is different on all bows and usually anywhere between 7.5-8”
OK Jeff, I have a question for you, and maybe you could discuss this in a future video. I have noticed since the very first video I ever saw of yours, that when you shoot an arrow, you actually draw the bow back a little bit, but not all the way at once. There seems to be a slight pause before you actually come to FULL draw and anchor. Is there a reason for it, or do you even sense that you are doing that? Thanks Jeff. Jim
Hey Jim good to hear from you my friend and yes I do tug on my string before drawing, that’s when I generally start my line up and basically have everything ready before the actual draw like bow arm, head position and everything plus I’m picking my spot 👍🏻
The reason I asked that question Jeff is because I tried doing that. I get lined up, draw the bowstring back about six to eight inches slowly, then to full draw and shoot. I seem to shoot better when doing that, but can't figure out why that would be. I guess it doesn't matter what it's doing for me, as long as it helps me be more accurate. Jim
I couldn't get this to work on my Hoyt Satori because of the ridge it has poking out the back, do you have a way around this or would you suggest a stabilizer for that?
What glove do you draw with ? Looks like a work glove with three fingers. I like it. I'm going to try this technique. I'm new to Archery and this should solve a problem.
Like always jeff great content, but i got one more tip, dont even try after a couple of beer's, your guaranteed to be in the weeds, haha funny but true😂
I hold the bow with all 4 fingers and I shoot well! It is more important not to move the hand for 1 second exactly when the arrow goes to the target ...! The hand was still moving after the release, even if you had the bow an on the grip anyway …!
Jeff said Cairn on his previous video being Indian . Cairn is a Scottish-Gaelic word . And the Cairn IS a pile of stones but it’s not just for graves. It was also used as a marker for people traveling in and around the Scottish countryside….

Yes sir! It really does help on a lot of bows at least it does for me lol thanks brother!
This is very informative. Can wait to try it.
I just use the middle knuckle on my middle finger agand the side of the grip n get the same results as the finger tip pressure

I've been taught to gently lay the tip of my index finger only on the riser. I thought the idea was to not grip it at all.
I couldn't get this to work on my Hoyt Satori because of the ridge it has poking out the back, do you have a way around this or would you suggest a stabilizer for that?

I use a BearPaw Classic from Lancaster Archery Supply 👍🏻
Jeff, I couldn't help but notice the change in noise from the bow as moved between the two holding positions. The 3 fingertip hold is much quiet.
I think it actually helps get a cleaner release 👍🏻
How do you order or buy the TTT Strings?
Hey Jeff have you done a review of the ILF Tbow? Thanks for sharing
I haven’t done one yet but I’m going to!
Thanks
How about the horse bow, e.g. Tatar bow?
Are you doing khatra as you fire?
Can you recommend a good shooting glove?
Absolutely! BearPaw Classic from Lancaster 👍🏻
