    Should be interesting to see how durable they are and also if they have the iconic sound everyone loves!

    I always use Hope Pro II for my builds
    Crazy prices for a wheel build! £50.00 per wheel?
    fortunately, I can build them myself! pre tension them then take to LBS for final tensioning for £25.00 squid
    all Hope hubs are bullet proof!

      Cool story Troy ;-)! The Pro II hasn't been available for...what...nearly 10 years? You must have quite a stash or them!
      So how long does it take you to calculate spokes, order them in, lace your wheels and then tension them...before travelling to your bike shop to drop off and pick up?
      Because I don't know about near you but for me and other professionals our labour rate for an hour is pretty standard at around the £50 mark...so if it takes your bike shop even half an hour to finish them off, and YOU'VE spent half an hour or more starting them off...well it's all about equal isn't it ;-).
      Without knowing who your LBS is there's no way of knowing what tolerances are worked to or anything like that...but let's just say for paying me £50 customers get an *absolutely fantastic* wheel build that's likely above and beyond what most LBS's are able to offer...not to mention access to the rest of my expertise if they need help in spec'ing components to suit them.
      You sound like you know what you're doing though, so crack on :-)!

    What's the difference between the ebike one and the normal one?

    • @RyanBuildsWheels
      @RyanBuildsWheels  Год назад +2

      The e-bike free hubs engage all six pawl's at once; thus spreading the torque load evenly through the bearings and reducing wear to the free hub body. Most e-bikers would also do well to opt for a Steel free hub if running HG for the same reason. I'll need to confirm but non HG e-FReehubs MIGHT also be steel; feels like a good idea to me BUT I am not trained in stress analysis of machined parts so I"ll leave that decision to the experts ;-).

      HG?

      @@ashvince3044Hyperglide. For the last few decades it's been the standard Shimano interface between the cassette and the freehub so if you are using Shimano, you probably want that freehub. A few years ago they introduced microspline for their top end of their range.

      LOL! Yeah...I'm going to take this down in a few days...Let's just say this is 'technophobe wheel builder fails to upload successful RUclips Short AND hasn't set the Selfie camera up properly on his phone'! So...all in all a bit of a fail but after spending a day driving to go see them AND an hour trying to edit a bunch of clips down to mere 60 seconds I'm damned if I'm not letting. FEW people see it!

      @@cleggycyclist Don't worry, it was taken that way; I'm really enjoying making video's though so want to get it 'right' this end and after noticing that this hadn't gone as to plan as I *hoped* (baDUM!) then it's been a mini learning curve ;-)

      I did not notice. I would leave the short up. Shorts are disposable content, its unlikely anyone will see this in a year's time anyway.

    17287 bearings? Sigh, straight into the bin in goes. No NTN/NSK/SKF/etc replacements, just proprietary Enduro junk.

    • @RyanBuildsWheels
      @RyanBuildsWheels  Год назад +2

      You mean like these?
      www.hambini.com/product/oem-17287-2rs-17x28x7-fully-contacting-seal/
      Offered by @Hambini and many more readily available online at a wide variety of prices. 17287 isn't proprietary, it's a commonly used industrial bearing size that's easily replaceable; there is *nothing* proprietary about it, so you're shooting yourself in the foot if you don't have the time to inform yourself about parts availability.
      Enduro bearings certainly aren't my go to but they've served exceptionally well in thousands of @Hopetech products for YEARS with zero issues.
