    Just sharing my ideas one my favorite book series, A Song of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin. This video may contain spoilers for those of you who are not up to date with the series.
    I'm just speculating and guessing on some ideas that I have on how future events will transpire in the series. Keep in mind however, I know nothing.

    There's also the chance that Bloodraven has visited Sweet Robin as well. He has a strange obsession with making things 'fly' even though they're really only falling, a concept Bloodraven seems to try to convey to bran through his dreams. He also seems to hear singing/whispering in his dreams in the Sansa chapters that occur in the Eyrie and is even used as a parallel to BR when Cat first sees him, a withered babe sucking at a teat while seated on a Weirwood throne.

      @@cristiansaucedo4707 I dont think that bloodraven will try to outright drain Bran to death. Odin sees through Ravens. Not crows. Bloodraven is NOT the three eyed crow. Hense why he has no idea what Bran is talking about when Bran asks him if he is the three eyed crow. Also, in one of Brans dreams a weirwood tries to talk to him and the three eyed crow starts pecking at his face. I believe the crow is the Great Other and Bloodraven is the weirwood as he also appears to Melisandre as a "wooden man with a thousand eyes".

    I loved the way you read Leaf's lines. I remember ADWD describing their voices as something like on the edge of happiness, a voice filled with so much beauty and sadness it made Bran want to cry to hear them speak. You captured that perfectly in your reading. How the hell did you do that?
    Also, man you really have grown into this channel of yours. I remember watching your beginning stuff, and you had so much excitement and nervousness, you stammered a bunch, but you had an obvious passion. Hearing you now, having found your voice and a steadiness to your speeches, not to mention a very unique perspective and grasp of thesis, I am happy to have subscribed to you and watched you grow. As I see it, one of the main historical message of the story of ASOIAF is about the actual demagicalization of the world. As we know, the historical inspiration for the books is the era around 15-16th century England. Before capitalism and colonization and industrialization starts, there needs to be a huge battle between ice monsters and children-of-the-forest and giants and mammuts and unicorns and direwolves and dragons and magical swords and horns... when the story ends, there will be no children, no monsters, no dragons, no giants etc any more. Only a demagicalized world with people who colonize the entirety of it and fight their own wars between each other for thrones and lands and money, all of which they took from forgotten ancient tribes and creatures. Now we actually live in this demagicalized world but once it really was magical for people. But we have forgotten it.

      +Tof.Fefee I think you are right and I think that Bran is the Key to all of this and I think the whole Jon and Dany and Tryion thing is there as a great side story to pull you off the tracks of the REAL story. I think Bran is actually Bran the Builder and he goes back into time and builds the wall and all of that but I believe he somehow stops all of this stuff from happening and he somehow ends all of the magic and corruption of the world through magic for example the religions that seem like gods doing things but what I think really is just magic. I think Bran sees all this and wants to save everyone but the bitter sweet ending comes to be that everyone dies protecting Bran's body as he is back in time and he stops the current situation of the world (the white walkers ending the world pretty much) from happening and does it by ending the reason why the first long night even took place thus making the GoTs world as we know it non-existent!

      I can understand if the Children can shape the land, eg the Wall, the sundering of the steps, the gods eye. But to create life? That's a little far fetched.

    The slow destruction of the COTF and the invasion of the Andals, and subsequent disappearance of unicorns, Giants, and giant lions is all very reminiscent of Prince Caspian, the Narnia book.

  • @dorsal-qb5fr
    @dorsal-qb5fr 8 лет назад +34

    I disagree. Bran's experience in the Cave gave him the impression that the Children are resigned to fading away into the rocks and leaves where they'll live on forever. They aren't vengeful as Man would be. The Others ruled the world for one solid generation and were undone when the Children were finally roused and joined the Last Hero against them. If anything, that would have been the time to finish Mankind off with their backs being against the wall, so to speak.

    • @carlbates9110
      @carlbates9110 7 лет назад +4

      To be fair, it was only the First Men living in Westeros when the Children saved Humanity, and the First Men grew to respect the Children's culture and way of life. The Andals didn't, and are destroying pretty much everything the Children knew.

    • @Rafael-rn6hn
      @Rafael-rn6hn 5 лет назад

      Maybe the Others were originally the children's last ditch effort to fend off humanity, but that too eventually was corrupted by men, taking over their creation for their own benefit. The fact that men are being turned into walkers now is evidence of this.

    Idk how people haven't pieced this together yet but Bloodraven (Three Eyed RAVEN) is NOT the Three Eyed CROW!! Crow and Raven are NOT the same!! Bloodraven is completely separate from the "crow" who has visited not only Jojen Reed, Bran Stark and possibly SweetRobin Arryn but also the sinister Euron Greyjoy (can't believe that was left out...) if you read the books more closely, you'll realize that the crow and the raven are not the same, so essentially- there have been two different entities visiting Bran. Only one with Euron/Jojen as weirwoods do not grow at Greywater nor on the Iron Isles. Bloodraven connected to Bran through the weirwood tree at WF. But the crow comes in dreams. Crow dreams. Different from tree dreams. The three eyed crow famously tells Bran to either fly or die. He also makes a remark along the lines of "how will you know you cannot fly unless you try?" Mysteriously enough, Euron Greyjoy tells Victarion something eerily similar "when I was a boy, I dreamed I could fly. When I woke, the maester told me I couldn't. But what if I could? What if we all could? We'll never know unless we leap off of some tall tower" (how coincidental that Bran fell from one and his third eye was opened).
    There is no indication or history written where Brynden Rivers aka Bloodraven fell from a tower or dreamed of a crow, or flying. However, there is one Targaryen who "leapt" and that Targaryen was Daemon, the Rogue Prince. He literally leapt off his dragon, onto Vhagar, drove Dark Sister through "One Eyed Aemond" before they crashed into a lake where the water was said to go up as high as "Kingspyre tower" (there's the tower). Working in Daemon is a little bit more tinfoil and I'm not as bent on it, but the leaping of the dragon, the metaphor of the tower and also that he stabbed his nephew through his ONE eye (which could have opened Daemon's third) is almost enough concrete evidence for me to believe it. However, I'm just going to stick with the fact that the raven and the crow are totally separate and that Bran stark was visited by both. I'm also going to leave the fact that Bloodraven seems to have no idea who the hell the three eyed crow is. When Bran first meets BR, he asks "are you the three eyed crow?" To which BR seems very confused.... he says "....a crow? Once, aye. Black of garb and black of blood." Garb referring to his past as a Night's Watch member "crow" and black of blood referring to his ancestral roots and his mother having been a Blackwood. So that alone is major evidence that Bloodraven is not the only one trying to telepathically and creepily reach out to people but that there is indeed someone else (three eyed crow) reaching out as well.

    • @QuinnsIdeas

      +Alexis Smith bloodraven is only referred to as the three-eyed Raven in the show

    • @lexbellora
      @lexbellora 7 лет назад +22

      IdeasOfIceAndFire yes I know that in the show they exclude the crow part. But I'm talking about in the books. In the books, I think it's apparent that the raven and the crow are not the same. We know who the raven is..... but who is the crow?

    • @lexbellora
      @lexbellora 7 лет назад +22

      IdeasOfIceAndFire in the books though, he doesn't acknowledge himself as a crow tho. He says "I once was" referring to his Blackwood ancestry and him being a NW member. He is no longer a crow, but a raven. Ravens are part of the Blackwood sigil. They also follow cold hands everywhere and are "the eyes" hence being BR eyes. The crow is still separate from Bloodraven, he is not both.

      montsa420 all I know is that that the crow and the raven are not the same. I think the crow time traveling might be possible bc I can't find any hint who he is BUT I am positive the two are not the same. Bloodraven seems confused when they call him Crow

    Love the video. I disagree on one point. Ironically based on your videos and Preston Jacobs videos I came to the conclusion that the others are not as bad as we think they are. Unless GRRM is just rewriting LOTR then there has to be more to the others than we know now. I read ASOIAF as an anti-war story. In the end war doesn't solve any problems. Something tells me that we're not headed for orcs vs men, or ice zombies vs dragons for that matter. And even if we are headed for that kind of final battle I think the will be conflicted about who to root for. In my mind there's no way that Danny, Jon, the children & co. all team up to take on the big bad.

    • @MarkGamble52
      @MarkGamble52 8 лет назад +1

      +Tyler Pelzer I think Bran is actually Bran the Builder. I think he learns how to go back in time and his powers help build the wall. I think shit is gonna hit the wall as Jon and Ramsay's armies fight. I think the White Walkers will take that opportunity to strike. In the end though I think everyone will die defending Bran's body as he goes back in time and tries to stop the whole long night situation from happening way back when. Bitter sweet ending but one hell of a twist, I think that's GRRM's ultimate ending...

      +MarkGamble52 I wouldn't hate that ending, but it would feel so on the nose for me. Based on an interview I saw with GRRM I tend to think that people from the age of heroes are like Like King Arthur or Gilgamesh in our world. They probably have some factual basis, but the stories aren't meant to be historically accurate. Also, I hate using time travel as a deus ex machina.

    • @tommynobaka
      @tommynobaka 8 лет назад +2

      Everyone says The good guys vs. the bad guys like how Dany joins Jon etc. it'd be cool but boring if that happens because it's predictable. Qaith tells Dany to travel west you must go east. If the grey wast connects to north westeros, I think it'll be interesting for Dany's force to go east towards the 5 forts to fight the white walkers. In the show I think we'll get a glympse of the white walkers true intentions as we think they're 100% evil and they could not be. Men have invaded Children of the forest land and have encroached on white Walker land as well (north area beyond the wall). If this dude's theory about white Walker being a different form of children of the forest, they'll have an understandable vengeance for humanity which I think the show and book should take just cuz it's more interesting and unpredictable.

    There's a simple explanation of why Bloodraven could see Melisandre: She could see him, so he could see her. In all stories I've read or watched so far, in which this kind of magic occurs it always allows for two way use. Melisandre created the link, something bloodraven probably could not have done, but he simply then used the link to watch back at Melisandre.

Then my "younger" sister explained it to me and I went back and rewatched it (season1) and started having my Oh! that's what that means moments. So then I enjoyed it more. And I think around season 3 I found out there were lots of people who do these type of theory and explanation blogs, but never pursued any of them. Guess what, just subscribed to your channel. if I'm correct, the cragnomen are descendants from children of the forest. maybe because of that, jojen has this link to bloodraven and the children that remained. I love the back story of bloodraven as well. melissandre thinks he is a tool of the others as bran as well. we know that melissandre's interpretation are always not correct, but I don't like to think that brynden is serving the others or something like that. but I never stopped to think about any theory about him. I love when he appears in the duncan and egg stories. I think he is a great warrior and always a loyalist to the house targaryen, even he being a bastard but legitimated one.

    I think, as a theory says, that might be possible that white walkers are really dead people trying to scape from that "realm of memories". The Weirwood trees have power to keep memories through time but remember one thing, this kind of "net" was meant to be for the Children of the Forest in the first place, a culture who try to melt with nature but humans are greedy and selfish. So when they die they don't just go away, melting with nature in peace. They remains there like a cold hell, growing in number year after year. A metaphor of the corruption.
    Whitewalkers can summon dead, animals, whatever and their own bodies are something like a dummy humanoid, made of something solid for walking again among the livings and all that.
    When they are strong enough, all the magic is not enough for keep them and the battle begins over and over again.
    Brynden Rivers as the Greenseer is the only one that can hold them until the chain breaks again and a new Greenseer must takes his place.

    You got me thinking. Bran brought Hodor with him, or rather Hodor brought Bran. We know that Bran can warg into Hodor's body and that BR is also warg. Blood Raven and the Children of the Forest have been keeping Bran doped up on green seeing (and that red paste) most of the time since he's been there. How hard would it be for BR to sneak out as Hodor? Possibly on pretense of escorting Meera back. With BR as old as he is, would Bran think much of it if he's body passed on?

Bloodraven was confused and replied that he wasn't but he had been a crow during his stint at the wall as a Knight of the Watch. I think the Children of the forest have something to do with the 3 Eyed Crow as it was trying to get Bran down in the crypts early on for some reason. Any thoughts on this.

    Hey: I think you were on the right path! Can't decide if 3EC is from Pact between man/CotF to undo the killing blow to humans so history repeats, or if 3EC is the final blow to kill off humans. Worse: I'm not sure the show will tell us (except I think the Others had to be a decoy "Ice" so Bran would look legit, but of course he's not looking too good right now for keeping all his visions secret). George won't get the books finished so it could be an unanswered question. Good video!

    I believe shiera seastar is the three-eyed crow. I think she seduced both bloodraven and bittersteel to put them against each other on purpose. Bittersteel gave shiera bloodravens eye as a gift to win her affection. After she aquired the eye she traveled to Stygai and used it in blood magic and became the three eyed crow. Once bloodraven found out she betrayed him he began to work against her. I dont believe bloodraven is the three eyed crow because GRRM constantly makes the distinction that hes a raven. When bran asked bloodraven if hes the crow bloodraven responds by saying he was in the night's watch, And when he asked leaf she corrected him by saying hes the last greenseer. Crows and ravens are both members of the corvidae species, close relatives, just like bloodraven and shiera. I think shiera and bloodraven are fighting over bran, to use him against each other.

    This is good.
    One thing to add: we haven't had a 6th book yet to show us what abilities the children have but consider that in the show, the first thing we see one do is pitch a knuckle fireball at a white. They have dragonglass from molten lava. Seems they have the fire element down pat. Others obviously have ice.
    I used to think that "The Song" was symbolic of Dany and Jon in some way and maybe it still is. Maybe they team up to fight this "Great Other", maybe Jon turns in to something else through his resurrection, who knows. From this perspective I could see GRRM tying in some kind of "humans are just a footnote in the grand scheme of life" kind of "bittersweet ending". Maybe it's more about the supernatural things in the world taking back what is theirs.

    I wanted to know what you think about another theory of the Others. We know through GOT history that Good Queen Alysanne (sorry about the spelling), visited the Wall and gave the Night's Watch the New Gift. We also know that around that time she had her king outlaw First Night. Some theorize that the Queen discovered something dark when she went North... The gate that Bran passes through to head North of the Wall, some say, was once used for sacrificing to the Others. The bastards of First Night were sacrificed at this gate to the Others and when the Queen discovered this she discretely took action. Ending First Night and the supply to be sacrificed. I know there are some holes to this theory. But I found it interesting and the thought that the Weirwood God may need blood sacrifice. Are the Children evil? I keep going back and forth but your theories are interesting. I guess we just have to wait for the books

    I like that theory about the Children of the Forest being where the Others originated from, didn't really occur to me before. I had a small as of yet unformed theory that the Valyrians & the Others may be connected somehow, Valyrians seem to be the human embodiment of fire & the Others seem to be the human embodiment of ice, wondered if there may be a connection but because of their geographical distances from one another probably not. I think your theory is way more plausible, really enjoying your videos lately man, you got me rethinking R+L=J with your videos on it even though the TV show is pushing it hard. I like R+L=D more to be honest.

    And I want everyone to consider something else: does there necessarily have to be only one Azor Ahai!?!? Think of the sigil of House Targaryen, a three-headed dragon. Now, was this sigil established in the days of Old Valyria before the conquest of Westeros or after when Aegon, Visenya, and Rheanys conquered the Seven Kingdoms? (I wonder. The stories say so but, and this is a stretch, what if the Targaryen sigil had always been a three-headed dragon, could this sigil be a prophetic representation of something else!?!?!?) Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow are shoe-ins for being Azor Ahai but listen to one of many reasons why I include Bran in the mix of the candidacy for the title of AA.
    A kenning is a type of circumlocution in the form of a compound that employs figurative language in place of a more concrete single-word noun. Kennings are strongly associated with Old Norse and later Icelandic and Anglo-Saxon poetry. Example "wound-hoe" = sword. Bran is called the Winged Wolf because of his prophetic greendreams, correct? BUT what if this epithet possesses an underling double-meaning? "Winged-wolf" would be a perfect kenning for dragon!!!
    What if the infamous adage, "The Dragon always has three heads." represents something that extends far beyond the traditions of House Targaryen? Think about it. There have been tines in Targaryen history where there have been a multitude of Targaryens alive and well in a single generation. What if the three headed dragon, in some way, represents the legend of Azor Ahai? What if each of the people I named are themselves the living representations of the Song of Ice and Fire: Dany (R (Fire) +L (Ice) =D), Jon (E, B, or B (Ice) +A (Fire, because of the highly likely Valyrian origin of House Dayne) =J) and Bran (because he's just awesome.... lol.... no, because he is a Stark (Ice), the 'Winged Wolf', warg and greenseer who may "tame" a Dragon (Fire).

      +Jonathan Thorogood I think your theories are wrong regarding the parentage of Jon and Dany. It is known that Dany is The Mad King's daughter and that Rhaegar is her brother. From the books, in one of Eddar's POV, he states that he saw the children of Rhaegar and Elia smashed and wrapped in cloaks and layed at Robert's feet.

    • @jonathanthorogood7377
      @jonathanthorogood7377 8 лет назад

      +IgnoranceIsNotBliss And I thank you for your opinion. I like the idea of Day not being the daughter of Aerys II Targaryen but I by no means hate it.
      I really REALLY gained more respect for Daenerys Targaryen when she burned the Khals ON HER OWN on GOT. HOWEVER, this act helps me to hold on to the POSSIBILITY that Dany could not only be Azor Ahai....but, singularly(again, POSSIBLY) the Song of Ice and Fire (being the daughter of Lyanna and Rhaegar). But in the end, I am just theorizing; I can't wait to see GRRM's story unfold.
      As for Jon, yeah, same deal. He could be the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna and if he is I will not hate it. These are just theories that I believe could be possible outcomes. 😊

And maybe that’s how he was so powerful and seemed to know everything that was going on. Everyone assumed he had spies but what if his spies weren’t people but the trees and animals? Game of thrones (the show) is something I just watch for the enjoyment of it a prefer it a little more than the books as for me the details become a little boring and I don't really pay attention much unless I watch a video on points in the books and go back to find the parts I missed. The books definitely have the better storytelling aspect to it although the last two books were a bit dull and slow however the show has the interesting scenes (Dorne was bad though)

      I also found book four and five to be slow, especially book four. I didn't like book four much at all. GRRM is very detail heavy in the latter books, I felt the first three books were story and character driven and less so for book four. Although it could just be the abandonment from everything and everyone from book one, two, and three and waiting close to eight years to even get the book after three. The whole process of book four left a bad taste in my mouth for years...

      I love something and I close my eyes to it's flow monthly......In all seriousness though, if your wanting a TV show to be as logical as a 20k page multi-decade long novel series then you are going to be constantly disappointed. I just don't see why if he's not able to understand that he has to take it out on us. It's one thing to insult the show or the show makers but to insult the fans is too far. (Chad from.....Summerchild, sigh). I thought Preston started as a book reader then become a tv show watcher naturally. Just going on his theories, approach and attitude he seems like a pretty staunch book guy. I've read the books and watched the show, I like both. And there was never anyway those books were coming to tv. I was surprised at how accurate the first season was, it was amazingly accurate. I knew that would/could not last. GRRM talks about the butterfly effect and that's totally true.
      GRRM once said that he doesn't believe in fan fiction. That he doesn't want some hack writers or fans messing with his work after he dies. Well apparently if you bring GRRM a truckload of money that opinion quickly evaporates because no Fan would ever make as many deletions and omissions as D&D have made. Fans are concerned with the material passionately and would do it for free on RUclips or wherever. Some of my favorite Star Trek is fan made right here on RUclips and better than anything Star Trek for over a decade BY FAR. I'm kinda off topic now but this hypocritical attitude of GRRM has really been bothering me since I heard him say that lately.

      A lot of what you just now said is spot on and echo my sentiments exactly, especially the second half. I've battled Emergency Awesome and his basic, corporate, low brow videos for a long time. They are often offensive to me as an intelligent person and not just as a lover of G.o.T but just as a human being. He is morally bankrupt and a complete and utter idiot. But that's the point isn't it? It's tv, that is who they are supposed to target. We feed on the scraps of awesome that get left over after that consideration is taken care of. Simple and accessible is what tv is for. Sure it can be awesome too, but only as long as it's simple and accessible first.
      Most times Preston's videos use *wishful thinking instead of critical thinking* and that frustrates me especially when he takes it out on the fans. I would say again though that it needs to be directed at the show and the show runners, not the fans. This world operates a certain way and a small minority will never change how a democratic capitalist nation operates. Especially in regards to how it treats art. At the corner of art and capitalism art usually is sacrificed for capitalism.
      D&D did admit that, and it pissed me off. Like why even do the show if you felt that way? Don't you have an obligation now? Are you guys not millionaires now off doing this to ASOIAF? It's really infuriating... This art is not some stepping stone to launch your career. IT'S ART. respect it or fuck off. people just shit all over source material all the time for nothing more than stupid money, I hate it.
      You're absolutely correct about the masses (EA, D&D, common audiences, etc.) not giving a shit about the art or our opinions and how most people will never care this much about the show/books.
      As far as GRRM regretting his decision, he should. But I doubt it. He often smiles and makes remarks about "Truckloads of money!" then in the next breath belittles "fan fiction" because it would belittle or not stay true to the source material. I sure hope irony is not wasted on GRRM, because that's some funny shit.
