- The team hits the road and sets up camp for the first time. The team gets to know each other a bit more and a chance encounter with a local shares some interesting history of the Alaska highway. The team is in for a surprise with camping in mosquito country so they take off for a break at an awesome hot springs. There is no rest for this overlanding team as they find out just how low on the food chain they are...#xoverland #overlanding #alaska

Seriously miss this old crew, still hands down the best season. Don’t know how many times I’ve watch the AK/Yukon series.
I love the excitement of the older videos. This is what it’s all about.
10 years ago, about the time when I started watching y'all. I'm glad you're still going strong.
for somebody such as myself who has no offloading experience whatsoever i find this very enlightening.
So it's been 6 years..... are you now a professional offloader?!?! Did walmart name you employee of the year?!?! Please update us on your offloading adventures.
Rewatching the series and now I have to look for how many times Clay says “It’s A. this or 2. that.” Lol. Love you guys! Can’t wait for the next big adventure
just discovered this, seems to be one of the best series i've ever seen
Enjoy the historic content immensely. There IS more to overland than just driving. Feel sorry for the people so hooked on seeing off road footage, they can't appreciate the other parts of your video.
Sam Walker love your comment. 👍
Totally agree. Nice job on the video guys.
Another awesome episode guys. Especially liked the part where Clay was sitting the bunker and talking to the camera. Really set the setting right. Thank you.
Alaska is beautiful beyond belief.
just discovered this, seems to be one of the best series i've ever seen. Im excited
I appreciate the fact that you all go over the things you do to prepare for trips. Thank you! This is a dream come true for me to do stuff like what you do. You all are awesome to watch. What I would give to join you all!
After watching this episode, two things come to mind:
A.) This video series is quite good; nice pacing, storytelling, and the expedition aspect is very compelling; and 2.) Clay doesn't know how to count or number things in sequence.
🙂👏👏👏🙏 l like all your expedition but the Alaska/Yukon is amazing!!
Clay ..... and the xo team .... I am a die hard fan of yours .... I actually started my own overlanding in Sri Lanka but I don’t now see the same excitement and drive in you and the team ... have you and the xo team commercialized as more than you should have or ... I don’t know ... but it’s good that you guys do it as a living now and lot of development has been done ... hope you see my point positively thanks
i got to say this my fave channel before i go to sleep feel the adventure love it....
Toddy Zilla same here. Clay's narration is soothing and concise.
pure beautiful souls team ..... !!
funny thing about the bear vs. moose confusion in alaska is that moose are actually responsible for more deaths than bears are :P the more you know...
One thing I would have added to your production is more maps. I like watching these shows and then going onto Google maps/Earth and looking all around the areas.
+expedition overland. I get to live vicariously through you on this show. Watching your trilogy all over again and love it!! Bad wrecks when younger and now multiple surgeries later I'm no longer able me to do these types of travels. Must add I owned one of the first Toyota 4-runners ever made (collaboration with Winnebago in 1981/82 was actually called the "trekker") and drove it to where no other vehicle at the time could go through the Sierra Nevada's.
Having a good laugh when he brought out the citronella candles, right! Deet, deet and more deet. Those mosquitoes have hooks, once they dig in they dont let go.
I just want to say what an inspiration you all are. Ive watched all the videos you guys have a few times and love them all. You guys live a life that I dream of one day doing. Thank you so much for doing these videos. I admire you all. Bravo! Well done! I cant say enough good things.
Beautiful B.C. - make sure to take a dip with the Ogopogo!
12:03 - Despite my grandfather being of age to fight in the World War 2, he didn't. Instead, he worked on the Alaska Highway. Unfortunately, he died before I was old enough to ask him questions like this, and my mom didn't know either. I figured it had something to do with Japan or the Americans looking down the road to a potential conflict with the USSR. Now I know why my grandfather didn't fight in the war. Thanks!
Greath video. sure lots of people want to be with you in this trip. I am happy for you guys. You got a lot of chance to be able to did this trip. I am desapointed from people who wrote bad commentary about what you did in this film. May be there jalous. I will be retired in 2017 and this will be a place that i will go to see back country. I will use a 4x4 Dodge Ram 3500 dually, diesel, with a truck camper on it. I made lots of trip like north of Québec (Radisson), Nova Scotia, north of Ontario... always in back country, summer or winter. Lots of preparation... We are waiting for your next film. Best regards.
Fft rguy6956kjjjjjj ok k in
Love it.
We drove from Texas to Alaska in June '13 and the Mosquitos were HORRIBLE the whole time after Kamloops. I feel your pain. The single best part of the Alaska winter is no skeeters
+DrDubzz I grew up in Kamloops; have since moved away though. I've been planning for an Alaska trip for a couple years now...hopefully next year :p
Fun times
That bear is thinking man... I have to get a no-tresspassing sign for my property here!
Cool bear sighting! We are enjoying watching this season!
Awesome expedition, Thank You for the video.
Have to put in my 2 cents on the bear. Let's see. had to frame by frame this-
Short rounded ears- Brown / grizzly- Check
Ruff on lower neck- Brown / grizzly- check
Prominent Shoulder hump- Brown / grizzly- check
Hard to tell from the angle, but the face looks slightly dish shaped, another brown / grizzly trait.
Can tell from the size it was more timid than you'd expect because it was a younger bear. Griz's are interesting in that it depends on their mood how they'll react to people. Being from MT, you guys know that. I grew up there and have known a griz to move off as soon as it sees you and on another occasion have one refuse to move and start huffing at you. They are very temperamental and unpredictable, yes. But, they are not always aggressive. Especially the younger ones.
Sam Walker seriously you typed all of that just so you can feel important? What are you the griz whisperer? lol. Save it for someone else who likes to hear themselves talking.
Rubber bullets for a bear, and you hope not to make him mad?
I have to support this comment if only to help you in a future encounter. Never ever shoot a grizzly or a kodiak bear with rubber bullets or even a shotgun unless you are using high density slugs otherwise it will be the last thing you ever did. If you are forced into a confrontation with a wild bear your only chance is to outrun it in your vehicles or kill it before it reaches you. Believe me, a grizzly would rip open your trucks like I would a can of coca-cola with a K-bar knife.
First of all, I'm a little surprised they let you into Canada with guns. Second, having worked for a Montana hunting guide, I have to echo what Black Warrior Lures and Skar SC said. You guys are lucky you have yet to meet a grizzly with an axe to grind.
I agree, having lived in grande cache in alberta for several years, which is infested with grizzlies, a bean bag will just piss it off. Bear spray will do f all. I agree that shooing it away is preferable, but if a griz wants something it becomes persistant about it. gunshots are usually enough to scare it away but if it charges you will have little time to do much. food for thought.
i love adventure you guys make sense of all what is to be called an adventure of a lifetime....Denis from Tanzania
i need friends like you in my life lol omg the thrill and adventure !!!!!!!!!!!
whoa you guys just changed my bucket list. sweet job!
Love the sound track.
Im actually a liscened mechanic, big offroad guy, Hunter and fisher, most people who watch ur stuff have no idea how difficult the trails are that ur doing or what is involved with your trucks....... Full respect p.s. I have a 96 taco ..... Way better than any jk
WOW how amazing! great video again! Thank you so much for documenting this! That bear sighting must have been soo freaking cool!
Good expedition overland. . . And good toyota very beautiful.
I like Alaska and love adventure! !
great testimony
You guys are doing a great show! I enjoy it a lot.
Wonderful series. A+ congratulations, keep up the travels!!!,!
Thanks for uploading & sharing, I found this to be a very interesting show & hope to see more soon.
Just discovered this and have been enjoying, however remember with bears (or any wildlife) you're in their home, so don't be so quick to light of "things" and tense up. If they aren't in camp or bugging you...just enjoy.
Watched all your videos. Loved and hope to see more in the future. Thanks for your expedition guys.
Another great film, awesome country, wish I was there .
Very cool guys!
So as you surely know by now... that was a black bear, NOT a grizzly. Having said that, the photography is great... and the show is fun to watch.
Nice.
Absolutely amazing documentation and history in this. you guys are great. I am envious of your journey, hope to see you on the road sometime.
If you guys want to travel in Canada in the winter get some tracks with studs in them. lol We put screw in studs in our quad tires when we go ice road quadding. And one of these days I'll be getting some tracks.
excelent documentary, thank you for sharing with us.
Another great episode.
HAHAHAHA just noticed Clay did his infamous A) or 2) @22:05
So A and 2 are a result of constipation AND bears, hahaha
Awesome series.
Man, look at Clay without beard! 🤣 kinda binge watching at the moment 😅❤
So young!
You guys have such a great production!
Very brave and adventurous trip you had... I love all the Episodes. It helps me a lot on my plan for a same adventure.. I am planning to get the 1993 NIssan Terrano and will have a small trip like just 1 week. Im just a student learning to try this kind of adventure... thank you for this videos.
Shout out from Bozeman, MT!
A W E S O M E
This is sick, glad I found your videos. I wish I could do something like this in my fj someday
good adventure
Osm love ❤️ from (India)👍
Love your episodes guys! Keep them coming! :)
Clay used A. and 2. again at 22:05
stupid is as stupid does
I want to go with you guys one time. It looks awe
You guys should post trail and campsite locations for other Overlanders
That snow, Impressive! I'm from Australia and don't get to play around in it often 😓
Same here in Texas
A while ago I watched a series in which the teams rode around the world (called " the long way round"). You guys should do a similar trip.
Good video, keep them coming 👍
I'm jealous.
Just watched your Bolivia movie, and I can see lots of growth and change in you guys.
power XXD
Looks like fun,. Coming from a long distance hiking background it also looks like some city folk decided they wanted to see how much money they could spend glamping.
The bear sighting was a sure nuff reality check.
When is episode 3 out? Great show btw. Adam from Ireland !
I think I would have stopped and sat till it got to be daylight. Might have gotten snowed in but you got to see
awesome Ep. guys. next season NatGeo?
Life with sponsor provided gear. Good job, if you can get it...
Seems like it would be. And I suspect that most of the folks that are whining and upset over it would jump at the chance if they could get it. I probably would. It would allow me to see some of the sights I'd like to see.
Okay, bring minim6 cans of raid spray on the road trip. Check! I will remember this shit. That’s brutal. Lol ole b0y had a whole bug suit. That’s the ticket! Hahahaha
You can scare midges away (you call it mosquito) You have to buy "AVON dry oil spray" it s the perfect stuff - works in Scotland. Cheers
Lolololololol to funny these guys drove right by my front door in B.C.
That was no grizzly lads. That was a 4 or 5 year old black bear, a grizzly is 2 to 3 time larger and will use your tires as play toys. They are the lion of North America, top of the food chain and utterly fearless.
I had my doubts about how seriously I would take your media project as a whole but I am quickly being sold. At first the background info on characters within your group was a little meh and on the cheesey side. Now I'm starting to appreciate it more. We all have a story. Even if the vids don't actually tell the story they make us much more aware of it. That is something unique that you are doing. This one from a narrative and story perspective is by far my favorite. Excellent work XO and I can't wait to see Ep. 3. Did you guys have extended fuel tanks as well or just factory + Jerry Cans? Also... hopefully I don't come across like too much of a pretentious douche. What you guys are doing is awesome hahaha.
I would love to do this, but not in the snowy season!!
Hey! A British Columbia doggy!
I am not sure if that was a great idea shooting those banging flairs in the forrest. Even green forrests will catch fire. probably take a little more care next time. But I am still liking your overland. I wish you showed your equipment in detail as you utilise it more. That is a major part of overlanding and seeing it in action more than once.. say in the begining and at the end to see how it fairs etc. That would be an enhancement IMO. Thanks again for the videos!!!
The intro sounded like ice ice baby for a bit lol
I spy someone loading Wal-Mart special Federal @ 20:35 with intent to approach a bear. I would opt for something bigger than doveshot, myself!
Ha! I live 15 min north of Castle Rock
when is the 3rd one coming out
Loving the videos and the adventures. Just wondering what those Amber lights are you have on the truck, very bright!
Rhonda be smokin hot
Excellent videos! I’m hooked! Please reply ?On episode 2 of Alaska / Yukon. Did you need special permits for the shotguns? If I’m correct, i believe handguns are illegal in Canada. I’ve seen many in Yellowstone as a child. Be safe.
こういう事をしてみたいな!!
should have fired up the cigars to solve the bug problem
another great episode! what slider are you using? thank you for sharing
pretty sure that wasn't a grizzly. big black bear though
Exactly before the comment on 16:30 I thought.... NOOOOOO don't put fire on a jerrycan!!! (unless it's diesel... but still..)
