    Absolutely ridiculous!
    If the ref wanted to penalize Molina so badly for the cornerman coming into the ring, couldn't he just have deducted a point?

  • @liljavi456
    @liljavi456 11 лет назад +10

    So technically mayweather should've been dq when rodger entered the ring during the Judah fight ?

    • @SuperCrazyEstonian
      @SuperCrazyEstonian Год назад

      No. "If an unarmed combatant or any member of the unarmed combatant’s corner engages in unsportsmanlike conduct, or commits an act that violates the NRUC, chapter 467 of NAC, or chapter 467 of NRS that may impact the outcome of the contest or exhibition, the referee may deduct points from or disqualify the unarmed combatant."
      But he was very lucky he didn't get DQ´d.

  • @ccali327
    @ccali327 10 лет назад +4

    There is a rule that allows a ref to disqualify a fighter if his corner enters the ring at an unauthorized time. HOWEVER, that rule is meant to protect a fight from turning into bedlam which is why there is a lot of discretion in that rule. This instance is just HORRIBLE refereeing though. It was clear that Molina's corner heard the bell and was entering the ring almost as a habitual reflex and quickly exited causing no real interruption in the fight. This is one of the worst calls I've seen bar none.

    By these rules then Floyd should have been DQ'd versus Judah just watch that fight. Molina is sitting in jail right now by the way.

      I think here in the Kirkland fight the commission sitting ringside talked him into the DQ. But you are right.

      That same ref. that did not warn Molina to stop the grabbing. Karma is a bitch. Molina team fucked it up. if not for Molina team, Molina has done well to steal the victory, anyway we will not know what will happen the next rounds, i saw Molina gassed and losing the will of fire.

    I didn't like the stoppage, but rules are rules and the corner man did enter the ring during the count. I just wish they would have used a little more discretion and asked the corner man to get out, and continue the fight. Rules are meant to be followed but they can also be bent a little under certain circumstances. The corner man obviously didn't mean to break any rules, he just thought is was the inbetween round break. They used A LOT of discretion with the Floyd Mayweather VS Zab Judah fight during the end of the 10th round when Roger Mayweather (Floyds Trainer) entered the ring and caused a riot after Judah deliberately hit Floyd low and in the back of the head. Of course, that fight was sometime ago and maybe they have enforced the rules since then. But nevertheless they used a lot of discretion to keep that fight going to the end of the 12th. Just wish they would do that under these sort of circumstances since the last bell was also only two rounds away.

    • @jamesrich8463
      @jamesrich8463 9 лет назад

      Rules are the rules, bull. The ref failed here, he could have consulted with someone before pulling that stunt. The ref is the final decision maker, and if he doesn't disqualify him the fight goes on and nobody cares or says anything later. I would specifically request that this ref not ref any of my fighters fights going forward, cause he can't make good decisions in the heat of the moment. Sorry but, the ref blew that one. I think when its a clear mistake such as here there are exceptions to the rules as what happen had no impact on the actually fight. Rules are there for a reason and one of them is not to to dq fighters who did nothing wrong, so the ref misinterpreted or just plain didn't understand the reason for that rule. These fighters put there lives on the line for a career and this bullshit happens.

      James Rich I can relate, and at the end of the day I completely agree with you. Its a shame really. Only thing one can do know is count their losses and take it as a learning experience. On to sunnier and less rainy days.

    • @MarioMartinez-wv9xt
      @MarioMartinez-wv9xt 9 лет назад

      James Rich after reviewing the clip I noticed the referee was actually willing to allow the fight to continue since he pushed Molinas trainer out AND CONTINUED THE COUNT. If you notice towards the end of the clip (in replay slow motion) Kirkland's corner IMMEDIATELY complained to ringside officials when they noticed Molinas trainer enter the ring and the ringside commissioners ordered the fight to be stopped. Referees are in charge but their decisions can ALWAYS AND AT ANYTIME be over ruled by the states commission of they feel the need to enforce ANY book rules. I dont like it either but the commission committee aren't people like you and I. They have corporate mindsets and they always try to make examples out of mistakes to enforce rules....especially since Kirkland's corner were complaining. With kirklands corner complaint I think they felt OBLIGATED to take action. They need to have a rematch.

    Actually, it really wasnt. Lou Askenette, the second in question, was actually the only one in the room it seems that knew there is no standing 8 count when a knockdown occurs at the end of a round. The round is officially over when the fighter gets up(thats when the time keeper is supposed to ring the bell, but he already did). I didnt know that, and neither did the ref, apparently. It never comes up. Lou was actually perfectly on top of his game getting into the ring as quickly as legal.

    I'm afraid clinching is part of the sport in the sense that people do it and people that can do it well have an advantage in defense. The referee can't deduct point straight away for a clinch so people do it

    Without that bad stoppage by the ref, and if it would of went the distance molina would of won. Kirkland was getting out boxed by a slow akward fighter that holds alot. Molina won atleast 7 out of the first 10 rounds until the knockdown happend. Two scenarios could of happened, either kirkland could of stopped him in the last two rounds or molina out boxes him in the last 2 to win the decision.

    Carlos Molina is decent but you guys are hyping him up too much. If the referee was a good referee Molina would have been DQ'd already... yeah yeah say what you want that he was outboxing and outpunching Kirland but he also fouled a lot and held a lot. I think a fight between Molina and Hatton could have been probably one of the worst fights in the history of boxing.

  • @SeattletoAustin
    @SeattletoAustin 12 лет назад

    If Molina hadn't looked so poor in the 10th round and allowed himself to be knocked down by Kirkland, I would likely have a different opinion on the fight. Kirkland shouldn't have tried "boxing with him," but rather turned it into a brawl-which is what he is great at. When James does that, he's almost unbeatable and I don't think Molina would've been able to withstand that pressure from an aggresive Kirkland. Molina couldn't even handle that pressure from a "tired Kirkland," in the 10th.

    Why did they DQ Molina? Is it for his wrestling, clinching and advancing with his head first? Nonsense. He was doing this from the get go. He received no warning about his tactics. This is a crazy decision. The knock down was also questionable, hence what punch preceeded the KD? Too bad this happens in boxing sometimes.

  • @SeattletoAustin
    @SeattletoAustin 12 лет назад

    I think if there's ever a rematch-Kirkland should just box like he knows how-get out there early and be aggresive and knock him out. I think that's where he failed with this fight-by overestimating Molina and trying to box instead of brawl. Molina wasn't really faster than him IMO. Molina won the early rounds, but that was simply because James wasn't fighting like he could've. It's not about who wins the scorecard so much. Kirkland can knock out Molina and I think he would and will in a rematch.

  • @SeattletoAustin
    @SeattletoAustin 12 лет назад

    People may hate here, but I honestly think Kirkland is the better fighter. If the fight would've continued-Kirkland would've knocked out Molina in the 11th or 12th. He had better legs. Molina was holding on desperately for dear life in the 10th round and shoulda been penalized for that IMO, but hey the ref did what he did. I don't think Molina should've been DQ-ed, but Kirkland still would've won. Kirkland may've been injured before the fight and maybe that played a role in his tentativeness.

  • @SeattletoAustin
    @SeattletoAustin 12 лет назад

    Kirkland was losing on the scorecard, but he had all the momentum in that moment.He just knocked Molina down and it was looking like he would've knocked Molina out, had the fight NOT been DQ-ed. Molina looked tired that last round and Kirkland had more energy. Again, I don't think it was a good stoppage and it wasn't fair to Molina, but I still think Kirkland would've went on to win. It's good for Molina that he won the earlier rounds against Kirkland, but you have to finish the fight. He didn't

  • @gastelumfrank53
    @gastelumfrank53 10 лет назад +1

    The ref didn't do the right thing after the count both fighters should've gone to their corners is obvious that the second on Molina's corner entered the ring because he heard the bell also the timing was awful when Molina got of the ropes the bell rang and Kirkland hit him the protection count was right the stoppage was wrong, horrible outcome.

      I second that. I can't stand fighters that actually incorporate clinching into their fight strategy. It's cheating but too many purists go around calling it 'ring smarts' and other things when their fav fighters are guilty of it. Same thing with hopkins, he'd be fucked if he had to adhere strictly to the rules of boxing in alot of his fights.

    • @VAHOSS
      @VAHOSS 9 лет назад

      Michael Jonas you are very very stupid! Since when did clinching become illegal? There is a point that the ref can take points if fighter is holding more than fighting. but clinching has been a strategy since boxing began... if you don't like boxing, then maybe you should find another sport to watch. But if you do, make sure you educate yourself a little on the sport before commenting on bullshit and embarrassing yourself!

    • @RustyLongPipe
      @RustyLongPipe 9 лет назад +1

      @va hoss shut up u fucking mong. Refs will tolerate it to a degree but it is illegal. If anyone starts holding constantly like Molina in my gym whilst sparring they get told to fucking pack it in. The amateur rules over here have been changed to stop the constant clinching that seems to have almost become acceptable because refs don't know where to draw the line.
      The odd clinch when hurt or to turn urself from the ropes....fine. But when it becomes your style and you depend on it to win fights....not fine.
      Who is your favoroite fighter? I bet it's klitschko or someone with a similar clinch game.

    • @RustyLongPipe
      @RustyLongPipe 9 лет назад

      @va hoss
      Anyways, since you claim excessive holding/clinching is not against the rules, here's WBC's rules for you:
      A list of common fouls that may be committed by boxers (or seconds, where the context is appropriate) that may be cause for penalty or disqualification is as follows:
      13. Excessive holding the opponent or maintaining a clinch.

    I disagree. Molina landed a lot of clean, easy to see shots. He outlanded James 152 to 102. He was up 8 rounds to 2 on almost everyone on press rows scorecard. If he is only "good", what does that make Kirkland? Emanual Stewert had Carlos in as a sparring partner for Andy Lee, and he predicted this might happen before the fight. Now he says its likely Carlos would be more dominant in a rematch due to the increased confidence from this fight. Obviously, there will be no rematch.

    Carlos has prove himself in ways don't get me wrong but he BADLY needs to cut down the holding a bit I don't expect every Mexican fighter to be like Barrera and Morales (even though that would be awesome if they were) he just needs to cut down those spoiling habits he clearly displayed some solid boxing ability his record definitely doesn't do him justice but having a 0 doesn't make you a good fighter i.e. Danny Garcia and yes James Kirkland, James has got to seriously prove himself now.

  • @88princessk
    @88princessk 12 лет назад

    Clinching like it or not is part of the sport. Best way to avoid a clinch is a jab, utilize the jab, stop the clinch and open the rest of ur game up. Kirkland didn't adjust and looked like shit till he scored a late knockdown after he himself had been knockdown as well. Molina won and so did garcia. Ups to fans who know boxing.

    Once again, he did out land Kirkland. I do understand your feeling on this fight, and I cant argue with your opinion too much. • @dan4579
    @dan4579 12 лет назад

    Molina was way smaller on fight night then James, and Kirkland wouldnt submit a urine sample. Yet, Carlos still found a way to out land James 151 to 102, swell his face up, and generally control the fight. Im pretty sure compubox wasnt counting clinches as landed punches on the juicer. Had Molina been warned or penalized, he wouldve been forced to change strategies. He wasnt. I guess little Carlos was just too rough and tough for big bad James Kirkland.

    by the way he was doing a pretty decent work..i'm halfblinded by his style which is similar to andre ward's one which i'm disgusted by..i can see some points made by molina's fan and they are right a rematch is needed to be fair..it is true that also hopkins and floyd use the holding technique..still his cornerman,i doubt that this is the case,could have faked a ring entrance to give time to carlos,so the d.q. is not so scandalous.still a rematch would be the best solution

    Yeah - i loved that too - but i think its kid (not child) and youre gonna kill him. but i like before as well "you gotta put your hands up and let them motherfuckers fly!" - i just text a mate and told him to watch this fight even if its just to hear miss anne do her thing. she's gold! pure classic, how could you not get fired up with her in your corner

    Kirkland had two torn muscles in his right arm. A fully healthy Kirkland would KO this bum. Easy.

    you can win when you're injured and hurt. you can even win it all when you're injured. get it? it just doesn't look like the best fight to everyone. Sports are pretty much synanomous with injuries if you think about it. there's NO perfect sport people! perfect games in baseball I guess, but not perfect sports. imperfect sports that we hope to be perfect at...

    I think the main problem is boxing rules aren't understood fully with the referee's what Molina was doing throughout the whole fight holding excessively to prevent being punched is illegal that's not boxing and never will be...
    Everyone referee's differently but I can tell you right now pushing someone up against the ropes putting your fully bodyweight on that's not allowed, grabbing the arms and locking them up is illegal holding in general just isn't allowed fair play if you're hurt though!

    Lara Vs Molina- gift for Lara. Carlos Molina is the most screwed boxer out there. He works way to hard to get treated like this. Im so pissed. One of the nicest guys Ive ever met, also.

    He's not even close to mayweather or martinez. I don't think he's ready for cotto either. He's a great fighter with potential, and a nice style. But you're getting ahead of yourself, he hasn't fought ANYONE close to their level.

    My point is that there are more than twice as many Mexican boxers from poor back grounds than there are African American boxers so your point is mute. The reason why we have more HOFrs and dominate boxing has nothing to do with demographics or being super human but rather having a better understanding of the art of boxing. Its just that simple. We have tremendous educational opportunities in the US so don't u that as part of your argument.

    At most I would had taken a point away from Molina, but DQ? Come on!

    U replied to my post therefore your comments were directed at me. We can agree to disagree without animosity. Those US Census statistics you gave are somewhat ambiguous and do not give a sufficient representation of the percentage of African Americans or Mexican Americans which are distinct groups and should not be counted with all black persons or all hispanic persons since we r discussing AAs and MAs. U can not determine from that data the percentage of AAs who are in poverity.

    Molina is nowhere near as bad as Ruiz. At least he stays active and throws punches. Ruiz was a plodding, slow, ineffective bruiser.
