Elden Ring's exploration music is a compromise between Sekiro and BB. Just enough music to fill the emptiness, and serves as a combat/stealth indicator. But easily tuned out, it's supposed to be background sound. I loved Sekiro's music, but Senpou Temple monk chants got annoying quick. Everytime you go into combat, even if just a few seconds, you get big in your face music. In Elden Ring, combat starts and music stays low, just enough drum and chord change to let you know someone aggro'd. Elden Ring saves the big music for boss fights. And if you don't like drony ambient sounds, sure you won't like it. But I loved the first time I opened that trap chest and teleported to the royal capital. And the first time I took the epic elevator to Siofra... incredible ambient music in this game.
This lady is just downright astonishing, listening to her music while playing the games just brings a tear to my eye. Very commendable, keep it up Yuka
She has been working with Miyazaki for so many games. And all of her gaming music pieces are masterpieces and complement games very well! I love it that there are alway different background music around players during the entire playthrough, that is fantastic and draws playes into Sekiro's world! Love her~
Wonder if she made a part of the abyss watchers soundtrack , that was amazing! Also its nice getting a insider on any thing about froms development of their game
Late as fuck, but she made that one exclusively in fact. Same for the Soul of Cinder and Slave Knight Gael. This woman is so good, she can do on her own what many other games hire multiple composers for. Mozart, Jon Williams and Hans Zimmer have competition now.
I didn't know she handled so many instruments herself. I've got a lot of respect for her work, she seems like a real artist. So many people over at From are just straight up artists, they're such a talented team.
Even though its computer made music, she nails the ost for every bossfight so perfectly. I had goosebumbs and tears in my eyes, when I first heard the ost of the Abyss Watchers. She is a genius! No other music in a game could ever touch my heart the way her music does. True Legend!
She will most likely not read this but I gotta say the soundtrack you created in Sekiro is by far one of the best I've heard in all the games I've played. When I fight against Genichiro the music sounds exactly like his character, or when we fight an aparition or even a great shinobi like Owl... all the soundtracks are so unbelievable perfect.
The soundtrack was absolutely bloody amazing. It fits the setting exceptionally well, and i loved the diversity of tracks we had this time. Nothing but praise to Yuka, Miyazaki-san and the team at From Software.
Maybe you don't know how musicians act. They are special in many ways, real musicians are used to small and untidy spaces in the studios and rooms which have many cables, bottles and a ton of other things and junk beside the instruments. They have to display their ideas and motives into the music, everything around them is not important, only the sound and the quality of the song or composition. Food on the table could be rotten and they wouldn't even notice, the project is always more important. She looks like a true talent, I think when your goal and project is so big, like hers in current and previous game endeavors, you just want to give your 101%. If they asked her '' what do you think about your desk space? '' she would be confused by such a silly question. One of my best friends who is making a shit ton of cash from music producing is still using his 10$ keyboard and mouse combo which is half broken. Its just not that important. If you want to make a musician do their best you should let them be comfortable and make their own space convenient, they are very modest people when it comes to that.
@@boleshuggah Hello :) I feel a certain condescending tone in your answer, which is too bad. As a Japanese, and a japanese woman at that, I'm sure she's very used to not complaining and is certainly very happy with the great job she has. That said, I can assure you a 150 dollars swivel arm for a monitor is a better option than a box. It helps posture, eye strain, and a lot of things that could get in the way of creativity. Also that romantic image of mad scientist you offer is maybe true for some, very much untrue for others. Many composers have fantastically clean desks.
@@FBuilding I don't think she's asked because she probably doesn't care. Seeing that she's kind of important to the company, they'd probably give her a throne if she asked. And if it was a problem, she'd probably just buy her own computer stand.
@@FBuilding Okay, a swivel arm would be better, but if she doesn't ask for it than why bother? FS is a big developer and a big company but if she doesn't want change than it is not a problem, if she doesn't want a better monitor stand then it is not needed. Cater to the people who make the game more special, who cares for the box and the desk, if she likes it than leave her be. I am not condescending, I just want to say that you should leave artists to make art, don't give something to them if they don't need it or want it (yes, even something as silly or cheap as a monitor stand), especially if it can change their working area. I disagree with the statement about creativity, there is no barrier to an artist showing creativity or an idea if they have something up in mind . I don't want to argue man, I'm just saying from experience that things like a monitor stand or desk space doesn't matter to an artist

And if you don't like drony ambient sounds, sure you won't like it. But I loved the first time I opened that trap chest and teleported to the royal capital. And the first time I took the epic elevator to Siofra... incredible ambient music in this game.
@@abandon4 The best song in elden ring was Rennalas and you could tell it was Yuka that composed it.
@@abandon4 u haven’t heard Malenia theme haven’t u ?

Such humility from someone so important and high up. Thanks Yuka for making a lot of my gaming memorable.
Bless this woman.
Easily one of the best video game music composer.
Love her~
From Software amazes me with their level of professionalism and passion for making great videos games
*_The Woman. The Myth. The Legend behind the masterpiece of a soundtracks_*
🙏🙏🙏
These interviews are great!
I had been a fan of her since dark soul 2. Such a talent
Composing music and making audio for games was my childhood dream and I am so happy to have a career doing it!
Just started playing this game. She really nailed the atmosphere of this game.
so beautiful, just like her work
Wonder if she made a part of the abyss watchers soundtrack , that was amazing! Also its nice getting a insider on any thing about froms development of their game
Yes, she's the one who composed the Abyss Watchers soundtrack!
Late as fuck, but she made that one exclusively in fact. Same for the Soul of Cinder and Slave Knight Gael. This woman is so good, she can do on her own what many other games hire multiple composers for. Mozart, Jon Williams and Hans Zimmer have competition now.
I like how they aren't revealing too much about the game. Makes me even more excited to play it and explore for myself!
Amazing 😍
I love the theme at the end
If you ever happen to read this, THANK YOU Yuka for making so wonderful music! :3 Helped me get through hard times EVEN the music is meant for games.
That Deflect sound is music to my ears... Its so satisfying and listen it to eternity...
Literally the only game i cant wait to play
what a genius! Arigato Gozaimasu Kitamura-san!! What wonderful worlds you have created with sounds
I didn't know she handled so many instruments herself. I've got a lot of respect for her work, she seems like a real artist. So many people over at From are just straight up artists, they're such a talented team.
Well they're all literally artists since a game is a type of art form.
@@chiaki3190 I don't believe all games are art. Many are purely products that suppress self expression. The guys at From, however, are real artists.

Thank you for your work Yuka at FromSoftware, the music will forever be legendary.
Saw yuka kitamura name, click. Love her work in soulsborne ost
Even though its computer made music, she nails the ost for every bossfight so perfectly. I had goosebumbs and tears in my eyes, when I first heard the ost of the Abyss Watchers. She is a genius! No other music in a game could ever touch my heart the way her music does. True Legend!
Yuki Kajiura, Yuka Kitamura, Motoi Sakuraba, Keiki Kobayashi, Shiro Sagisu.....Man I could keep going! The Japanese are legendary composers!
Thank you for the "Divine Dragon" track, it raises the hairs on my arms every time I listen to it.
This game will probably be GOTY 2019 without a doubt.
Joao Kiwi well
Without a doubt indeed
I myself have struggled a lot with Video Game Composing but this really inspires me! Thank you Game informer, just what I needed!
I love her probably one of the most amazing composers.
Her work in dark souls 2 is underrated
The soundtrack was absolutely bloody amazing. It fits the setting exceptionally well, and i loved the diversity of tracks we had this time. Nothing but praise to Yuka, Miyazaki-san and the team at From Software.
She deserves a proper desk space. Come on From, she's using her Fireface's box to put her screen at eye level.
@@yoursexualizedgrandparents6929 I think we need to ask Ben Hanson to write to From if she wants a stand or not.
We need to solve this now.
Hands down one of the most amazing game ost composers.
I wonder how many questions she DEFLECTED during the interview.
Lmfaoooo underrated comment
Great interview. Glad to know how much passion they have for the game.
Yes! Boss music from From games are the best!
Also very cute and talented person.
Thanks again game informer. Im so glad I pre ordered the collectors edition. Watching all the passion, effort and hard work that miyazaki and his team put into this game, it truly makes me feel that every dollar I spent is worth it. Cant wait till march 22 lml
Beautiful and talented !!!
Soundtrack was incredible on every level.
So bloodborne music was composed by this Lady ❤️
KaeTube Very little, She did Rom and Maria by herself and most of the songs were done by others.
@@IronTarkus876 Most of Bloodborne's songs were composed by a team of about 4 composers (Cris Velasco and Bear McGreary for instance, who worked on games like Darksiders 3 and God of War 2018). Kitamura was pretty much always a part of it though. Her name is on almost every single track, from the Blood Starved Beast to Father Gascoigne to obviously Gherman The First Hunter. Not only that, she is the main composer for DS3, whose soundtrack views usually surpass those of Bloodborne despite being released later (Source; good old Shirrako). I'd say she's definitely the major factor of Fromsoftware's stellar music, Bloodborne included.
Also, Lady Maria was a fucking epic soundtrack, and I didn't even know she did this by herself. Learn something new everyday!
Yuka Kitamura is the John Williams of videogames, a complete genious! Love your music, Yuka. A Big Thank You!
If it's as good as Bloodborne's I'll be very happy.
If I don't shit my pants to the ost I'll be disappointed.
And very smelly.
bloodborne had one of the best video OSTs of all time. Even if its half as good as that, it will be great.
