- A quick look at `Longbow Day` at Dunster Archery Week held on the 13th to the 19th June 2016, an annual event held in the grounds of Dunster castle. Longbow day is a traditional two way Western Round, meaning there are two sets of targets set up facing each other, 4dz Arrows at 60yards then 4 dz at 50yards. Various other Archery competitions happen on each day of the week. The event is organised by volunteers from the Grand Western Archery Society.

Beautiful initiative, and a really charming place. Respect to England as ever.
many thanks for the sub.
Glad you enjoyed.
Brilliant commentary !! Looking forward to taking my longbow to Dunster 2024 for the first time.
Thanks, I hope your time there is fun, good shooting.
Wow, would love to participate at least once in such a shoot in good old England!
The surroundings are so nice, and seeing so many longbow archers is just inspiring!
You should
Know Dunster very well. Hoping to acquire my first longbow soon and might try to get along to this event when circumstances permit.
Absolutely beautiful grounds and looked like a fun time :) thank you for filming it -Jeff Warling
thanks Jeff
I love how quiet it is.
I love their 'gang bang ' enthusiasm! It is great to be able to see what Horace Ford was talking and writing about in the mid 1800's
glad you enjoyed it
great vid, cheers for uploading.
Very nice video. Superb music choice.
Thanks, its so difficult pleasing people with the music choices, somtimes people hate there even being music at all, sometimes people moan when there is no music! Glad you liked it.
Richard I have some question about the targets what were they made Of where the arrows difficult to Pull out of them. I First shot hay bales Then it was something called tin test They both biodegrade after a while. I like the look of those targets and They didn't look made out of Styrofoam.
Hoping for such event to happen in Thailand to!
Just watching this, you can fully appreciate the devastating affect it would have had by hundreds of archers firing in battle against the foe hundreds of years ago, just looking at a line here of 50/ 60 archers close together is quite impressive, the stopping power would probably be akin to or not far off from modern day machine gun fire against an enemy.
Indeed, its a scary thought.
The top hat, my hats off to you sir, pure panache.
I don’t suppose I could bring my compound bow
Very Nice with Style!
Glad you like it!
0:16 ....calmly talking whilst the Battle of Agincourt is in full swing over his right shoulder...
Lol
The scooter lady got me, she got me!
Not sure I understand
of all the people there, how many would you say are in the bow making business?
...at least one for sure.
such a nice video!

Where are the young people?
Many of the people there would consider themselves young.
Elsewhere, shooting recurve or compound. 🤔😏

Make this an organized sport and require a traditional uniform to go with it.
It actually already is!
I thought you weren't even allowed to have knives.
Yes, we use chop sticks to eat with now.
@@longbows Seriously though, I enjoy your work.
Thanks!
England my lionheart .
