I compromised my principal in 5th grade. Belched so loud in the cafeteria that all the kiddos went into shocked silence. The principal stormed into the cafeteria demanding to know who did it. I said nothing. She made us put our heads down and turned off the lights during recess. In an effort to catch the culprit she said the guilty party could raise their hand. I didn’t wanna get beat up by the swing sets next recess so I confessed. Fifth grade is amazingly similar to a correctional facility. Got your yard birds, your warden, and terrible food. Years later I sold my former principal a Boyscout raffle ticket. So that’s the story of how I compromised my principal.
