Okay, I just have to say how cool it is to watch Barron be so proud of Elsa when she is learning to ride, you can tell there is this unspoken deep love and admiration. I absolutely love that. I have been watching you guys since the days of the Mini, and I just appreciate you guys sharing your life and putting out such fun, honest, beautiful content. I hope you guys have a fantastic day.
You two bring me so much joy. Some may say you are living a “simple” life, but personally I don’t see how your life could be any more FULL. You don’t need a big house with a pool and more material possessions than you can imagine to live a happy life. Elsa and Barron are proof all you need are your people (and animals of course), love, and an appreciation for the world around you to be content with life. Happy homesteading and know that you two are an inspiration to me! 🌳🧺🤩
Long time desert dweller with some tested packrat advice: When you find a nest, FIRST trap the packrat (I use a live trap), THEN clean up, otherwise you are leaving a packrat homeless and desperate to find another location near you. If you want to set the packrat free after trapping it--I always do--drive at least four miles away and release. Otherwise, you could kill it fairly quickly by drowning it. You can't repel them and removing cactus will not keep them away. They live only one to a nest unless it is a female with young, so you only need to trap one per nest. You are living in their environment now and management is the only real solution, so routinely patrol and inspect areas that attract them and deal with them ASAP by trapping first. Please don't get a cat. That is not a safe environment for a cat.
agree! Please dont get a cat, it has a tragic fate here. And please let the rats go if possible, they are just trying to live their lives like all of us
To the management, correct me if I'm wrong but bricking the base of the storage container so there are no openings would do better than constantly cleaning under it. And since rats can dig make sure to go down into the ground some. We have skunks that frequent our place as well as rats. Putting up a solid barrier has done wonders.
When dealing with Kamp's issues it's better to feed him smaller, frequent meals as opposed to his 2 regular meals. His stomach has issues so it is easier on it if it doesn't have to deal with large amounts. (17 years as a vet tech if that helps.)
Honestly a wooden sauna would be so great at your homestead! It's easy to build and great to wash in warm sauna. Don't have to have running water either, you can just carry and warm up the water on the sauna stove. It's amazing during fall and winter time: makes you relaxed, easy to clean yourself and especially goes great together with cold dipping or snow dipping (i snow dip but a lot of people to cold dipping here). Lots of home steads have them here :)
I do admire your life. I’m a 41 year old women with a bunch of little kids at home and I wish I could go back in time and do what you’re doing before I settled down into the daily grind - maybe I never would have settled. anyway, thankful for RUclips .. we can live vicariously through others. Thanks for the hard work you guys do on these videos!
We have critters that love to chew on our eaves so we have found metal screening keeps them out! In your case I would suggest that when you install your screening that you also dig and install it half a foot down so they cannot thwart the system by tunneling in. I have discouraged raccoons by spraying peppermint oil where they were entering our garden. Since rats seek food in a similar manner I would try that as well.
Agreed peppermint oil is a great for mice. I would recommend growing some next year in pots if possible on each corner you wish to protect and harvest and dry for the future. Make sure not to plant them. By edible plants, I hear the taste transfers to them.
Pumpkin is a good "reset" food for dogs. When I got my 1st dog and I couldn't afford to feed her the same stuff the foster mom had been feeding her, I was trying out various dog foods and the guy at the pet store said if any of the food gives her a stomachache to give her pumpkin to kindof "reset" her system before switching to a different dog food.
A wise man once told me that rodents like to live where their own scent is. Peppermint covers their scent and they go away. I tried it and it is working for our mouse problem. I hope it can do the same for rats. BTW, I love you guys!!!
Omg..be careful the rats don't chew your motorcycle wires!!! Grrrrr. Please stock up your emergency supply way more!! Get a metal garbage can to store it in inside your container shed!! Double safe!!! In case of terrible stirm and you can't get out for a couple wks!!! Be prepared with lots of wood too!! I wirry like a momma but love your adventures!! Hugs
I love that you acknowledge that fear (driving a motorcycle) but still do it anyway. Inspiring and it just makes me want to learn something new today! 👍👌
I haven't watched for a while as I've been busy in the city but now I'm back in my own 'scamp' in the countryside in North Wales I just love to catch up on what you guys are up to especially as you inspire me so much. Sending hugs 🤗
LOL when Barron said "Homesteading ... YA!" that was hilarious. Keeping up your own place is the most amazing thing. All the work is a pain but it's hashtag worth it!
Something about Elsa learning to ride that dirt bike almost brought me to tears.. you’re such a badass. For everything you live for, on a very human level, I am so proud of you both! You are a truly inspiring pair 💛✨
What a sweet couple you are. Elsa, my first motorcycle 4 years ago was a Honda crf250L and I'm 62 years old. You can do this it's SO much fun ~ peace to you both!
Elsa as a biker I’m so proud of you girl. 💕 PS my husband said your cement bricks can pop crack up because they hold moisture. When burning a fire. Thank you. for the vlog💕
We use mothballs in our hunting camp to keep the critters out. I recommend a cat too. I'm not sure your double containers will keep the pack rats out of trail mix. That stuff is like drugs to rodents.
Hi All, As a former biker (without the dragon tattoo) I was pleased to see you wearing appropriate gear for dirt biking…the boots, the heavy pants and the helmet. Great job learning to ride. Elsa you seen to have a knack and feel for the bike. So proud and happy for you!
Proud of you Elsa Rhae! Every woman should ride - sooo empowering and the best thing I learned to do. I've been riding for years and love every second I'm on my bike. Have fun with it, but respect the machine. Let it do the work it's meant to do - don't try and force it. Go at your pace until you are truly comfortable. Remember your safety gear always. Keep it rubber side down!!!
Real Metal Ammo Containers are "fairly" rodent proof, so a fairly good way to store things (particularly food) that they might get into. (Surplus stores obviously, Tractor Supply, Rural King...)
We stored food in surplus army lockers. Kept the mice out so I suspect it would keep the damn rats out. Cute little buggers but man they are a pain in the patootie.
Love this video! Barron is a fantastic teacher. He is so patient and kind. Elsa will never forget how she learned. My Dad taught me how to drive a car and fly a plane. I have never forgot all the skills he taught me. Love Kamp too. Congratulations on being a new home owner. 😊🙏🐾Blessings on your new adventures.✌
Love it! Elsa’s got it! I’ve been riding for 40+ yrs. Even pressure on the breaks you’ll be fine. Hey they make a ski kit for bikes for winter, would be so fun!
Awesome!! I am learning to ride motorcycles right now and one important thing I was taught was to never fully trust the neutral light, meaning it could one day malfunction so for safety, always slowly let out the clutch when in neutral so that if you happen to be in gear, you can pull it back in and have control of the bike. Just a safety tip! Have fun! Ride your ride!!!!
I am sitting on my balcony, on an October evening in Stratford, a small city in ON, Canada. I had just finished watching the above video and was reading the comments. I hear a neighbour talking to some passers by from her patio about this video, particularly, the head banging. As awesome as that was, I am way more blown away by the fact that Pack Rats exist and they stuff cacti in pretty much every crack or space available. Cacti literally stuffed under the hood. Such a nightmare LOL I am glad so many are paying attention to what you guys are doing:)
We adore Kamp! Glad his little upset stomach is getting better. Keep us in mind for any pet care needs! We're mobile...and so are you! We hung out and camped together last year.
You're a natural Elsa on that bike 👏 Oh nice can be such a pain!! We live near a I've and get mice every Spring. They can fit through the smallest cracks. We've found that stuffing steel wool in cracks helps a lot, they won't chew through it.
I use steel wool in my Scamp's electrical port to help keep mice out when I store it in winter. It's worked great so far. Plus dryer sheets in every cubby inside.

Beauty guys! Good job Barron, you were looking mighty suspicious there for a little while, your viewer here was concerned. You had something up your sleeve! Made that girl happy big!
You guys have been a huge influence in my life. I just bought a boler. I've been trying to live below my means so I can finally live my dreams like you do.
OMG...got goose bumps at the head-banging intro. How exciting to watch you both be so EXCITED! You two are just great and always fun to watch. Cool bike....Rock on, comrades:)
I only started watching your videos fairly recently, but after the first video that I watched, I immediately subscribed, and I've been going back to watch so many of your videos ever since, you're brilliant, all 3 of you, and now I really look forward to every single new video! I hope you're all well and happy. I'm sending you lots of love from the UK Xxxx
This episode reminds me of my teaching my late wife to ride the Yamaha 125 I purchased for her in 1972…fast forward to 2015 when we rode the Blue Ridge Parkway…she on her Honda 600 and me on my VTX 1800…I’ve not ridden since she passed in 2017 😞😞😞 but it makes me happy to see a new rider trained to ride (we were both instructors in the Yamaha “Learn to ride” program back in the 70s)…be careful and stay safe ☺️☺️☺️
Ha that looks like so much fun! Dirt bikes can go on so many more paths and roads than cars can. So much fun. You both look good with it! Loved the intro with the headbanging. I was cracking up. 😎🤘🤘💚💚 Your editing gets better and better 👍 Hope kamp gets better. 🐶 ❤I love how he waits to eat. Good boy..
I got my first car a few months ago, a Subaru Forester, and as soon as my god forsaken country opens its interstate borders, I'm doing a road trip and camping along the way, very much inspired by you guys. I'm so excited!!
I just love Kamp!! I always have. Maybe because he is the same color and has the same white markings as my dog. His cute way too. ❤ super smart. I just lost my dog to cancer... I'm completely devastated... It was just us for 8 yrs. My travel buddy. He was a princess as well. Cherish every moment with them. My guy went within 2 months of being diagnosed. Bone cancer spead through his whole body. I'm stuck emotionally... I feel lost without him. I love and enjoy your videos!! Elsa looks like a pro on the motorcycle! ✌
Buy product called Fresh Cab and push under container, under hood. Works great on motor homes setting awhile. Think you'll need another container soon.
Girlfriend! I got my Harley back in February! I’m so proud of you!!!!!!!!!! Way to go!!!!!!!!🤘🏻🤩♥️🔥👍🏼🤗🏍 four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul.
There are so many shelters that have barn cats in need of a loving atmosphere. You two are so clever, I'm sure you can build them a space where they can have litter and food while roaming freely.
Wow, what a great episode! I’m loving the new motorbike addition. I have the newest version of your bike, mine being the 2021 Honda CRF 300 Rally. Elsa, you did great on your first ride. I’m so stoked for your coming adventures on the motorbike. We also had a ‘79 Scamp 13’, and took it all over America for four years. I miss that little trailer. Wishing you all continued good health and prosperity. Go For It
I feel you guys would enjoy the biolite fire pit. It has a fan that is detachable that keeps the fire burning and that you can set between level 1-4. Kinda what baron did with the blower under the fire but built in!
I love looking forward to each of your episodes. They're so different and unpredictable. Celebrating and sharing your upgrades, taking each day at a time. Having your existing base camp, surrounded by space around you to develop in your own time. Love you guys!! Stay real 🥰🥰
Haha so much fun watching her…. The posing is cool too! I had a Honda 50 when I was in school…. You two are so much fun watching as you get used to your new land,, if only I was 40 yrs younger. But hey , I have had An interesting life, too But I love watching you two and kamp..
Elsa, that was amazing,,, good for you to learn. No fear..... I've been following you guys well over a year. Amazing couple..... Amazing videos. Luv you guy's......
Elsa, you are such an inspiration. You tackled the dirt bike like it was nothing. I want to be like you when I grow up. Conquering your fears like a badass. Barron, I can't believe how long your hair is! Your head banging really showed it off! You could also give Kamp a Pepcid tablet to calm his stomach. It doesn't have to be the name brand. It's good to have that and Immodium on hand for emergencies. Enjoy your new dirt bike. We love you guys.

Wow, thank you so much for sticking around for so long!! We really appreciate you in return.
Couldn’t have said it better.
This is exactly what I was going to say! I nearly cried seeing how proud he was of her. I LOVE dirt bikes so heck ya!
I agree...I love how Barron loves Elsa
OH Barron, now you have to get another bike... you’ve created a monster!!! She’s going to LOVE IT!!!!
I was just thinking that! I never thought I’d like riding dirt bikes, but it’s SO much fun!
That was my thought exactly. First she's terrified, then he can't keep up with her. BEAST!!! LOL!!!

Elsa, you are my spirit animal!
There are so many shelters that have barn cats in need of a loving atmosphere. You two are so clever, I'm sure you can build them a space where they can have litter and food while roaming freely.
not a good environment for outside cats...too many predators
Kamp is such a sweetly! I have minimal allergies to dogs but if I took on a pup I would love a dog like him!!! He would be worth every sneeze lol
Go For It
The motorcycle is a game changer! So much fun!!!❤
Yayyy!! How happy am I to see y’all this morning??!! 💚
Best intro ever!
I feel you guys would enjoy the biolite fire pit. It has a fan that is detachable that keeps the fire burning and that you can set between level 1-4. Kinda what baron did with the blower under the fire but built in!
I’m pretty sure they have or had a bio lite fire pit at one point. Elsa made a promotional video for it
I was slightly younger than Elsa when I learned to ride.
You two live in the PERFECT location for dirt bike riding.
You're a natural Elsa!
Be glad you don't have to kick start! You are living the life. Thanks for sharing.
Elsa, your crocheted snowflake is beautiful 🙌🏻💕🙌🏻
Elsa, that was amazing,,, good for you to learn. No fear.....
I've been following you guys well over a year. Amazing couple.....
Amazing videos. Luv you guy's......
Good job Elsa doing something that scares you!! I bet you feel so accomplished. 🙌🏼
Ah ha ha ha!! I laughed so hard at the intro...so funny. Those dang pack rats! Cool motorcycle.
Elsa, you are such an inspiration. You tackled the dirt bike like it was nothing. I want to be like you when I grow up. Conquering your fears like a badass. Barron, I can't believe how long your hair is! Your head banging really showed it off! You could also give Kamp a Pepcid tablet
to calm his stomach. It doesn't have to be the name brand. It's good to have that and Immodium on hand for emergencies. Enjoy your new dirt bike. We love you guys.
That intro was AMAZEBALLS! This was so cool. Happy fall and good luck for winter
