    Amalgam Roast Plant, kind of like a Retort but unlike a Retort the Mercury is not recovered but escapes into the atmosphere as an extremely toxic gas thus the remote location then the Gold is left behind in the ashes from the Roast Plants floor.

      They ran amalgam retort ovens on the same barges as the dredges. I don’t think a remote location is needed. But you could be right.

      @@scottprather5645 Only worried if someone dropped dead instantly in those days. I remember playing with mercury with my finger in Elementary school science class when the teacher passed around a plate of mercury just poured out of vile.

    Where you were pointing is the fire wall and there has NEVER been a vehicle with a gas tank there. It would have been under the bus on the frame. I should know I drove one !

    Looks like they drove the bus and panel truck in there then removed the engines and gas tanks to use them to power other equipment necessary to create electricity, pump water, or to run whatever that place produced.

    Nova Scotia has a very real collection of locations heavily contaminated by mercury from gold mining which peaked for the last time around 1945. Arsenic is also an issue. The enviro policy is inflexible here which kills new mining proojects before they get off the ground. These places are now just grid references in the backwoods mainly with odd bits of durable junk amongst the bushes due to the damp climate here.

    Interesting channel sir. Trade post? Processing...refining...such...it's in a nice valley so to see. Hard to find. So maybe refinery sounds more close to the truth. Not sure it's far gone. To me it seems like the perfect spot tucked away, for refining indeed. But I'm no expert at all, more a strategist haha ;) Good luck! I'll be checking the uploads seems really fun!

    it is a mill--they used 5 gallon buckets for the mill balls,easier to handle--these sites are all over nevada and parts of eastern calif

    m not asking for exact location, but what general area are you, in this video. Death Valley, Mojave, calif, Nevada. I enjoy your videos. I will be headed to nevada/calif in 2024. Been looking on Google maps for areas to explore.

    Water is needed for processing ore. The valley is a pooping place as many processes are located at water sources. Just a speculation.

      You should see how they get the lithium for your phone. We have destroyed a lot of Earth so we can mine for our batteries. Go look at the conditions African minors live in so you can use electronic devices. We are all guilty of this corruption, as we use these devices.

    Seems like it was a trading post with a base camp for the mines around where no towns close.the busses could have been used to make trips into a town

    It could be a tram platform for ore buckets or a Gondola platform that goes to a nearby mine shafts on the side of a hill/mountain inline with it.

Restoration needs to have an end game. Neither vehicle seemed rare and unique. Being a body man doesn’t make you a restoration expert either when it gets to that level.

    I wonder if there is any record for geological surveys of the area.
    It would be a pain in the butt to go to the town hall and dig through records, but I think that's the best bet.
