Thank you for all the wonderful details about GF and especially OHMSS. I visited Bern, Lauterbrunnen, Murren, Birg and the Schiltorn in 2013 because OHMSS was the first Bond film I ever saw at age 13 on its 69 Christmas release. As it happens, I was doing some post sound work for a film in Munich at the time. (That in itself an out-of-the-ordinary experience for me,) I had lunch on the Schiltorn, so the meal came with a dessert. Then on top of that, I ordered another rich dessert. At ten thousand feet altitude with all that swiss cream and butter in me, I nearly had a heart attack! (I was 57) Very scary. Going up the Piz Gloria stairs, I could barely make it, my heart thumping! Under normal conditions, I am a very healthy guy with a good BMI. Once I got down to the valley floor again, I was OK. Nothing like that has happened to me before or since. High altitudes and rich foods together appear to be a dangerous combination. They should have held onto Lazenby. I thought George was totally awesome. Greetings from Los Angeles.
Thank you. It's strange what the altitude and lack of oxygen does with you, right? I remember literally running up and down stairs chasing someone during our OHMSS 50th anniversary event there, amd experienced something similar! Scary indeed.
There is a small chapel on Grimsel Pass. Very beautiful when I visited. Also a clean water stream somewhere on the three passes. (Grimsel, Furka, and Susten).
Great to see that so many of the shooting locations from Goldfinger - even the gas station - remain unchanged this many years later. A lesson for the world.
The funny story about the gas station, is that they HAD removed all fuel pumps at first, but now slowly change things back to original as they suddenly realised the touristic potential (they're a hotel!)
@@onthetracksof007 Wow - did not know that! Even the curved roof is the same. Are you able to provide details of where I might be able to stay at the "Tilly Masterson Suite"? 🙂
Wow! What to say? The crown jewel episode of the whole series so far! Totally indispensable, it evokes all our most fond memories of an unforgettable amazing event, that our hearts will endear forever and ever. I must say that at the end I was expecting to see you on that bed, but I couldn’t have expected it to be so hilarious as it got! The most funny ending of them all! Congratulations, Martijn and Markus, Hansi and Gernot as well, you are the men!!!!!
Nowhere it is stipulated that Bern is in fact the official capital of Switzerland. Two laws - Article 32External link of the Act on the Federal Assembly and Article 58External link of the Government and Administration Organisation Act - mention simply that “The Federal Assembly meets in Bern” and “The official seat of the Federal Council, the departments and the Federal Chancellery is the City of Bern”. Bern is de facto the capital, but not officially.
Ok, I guess I should have known you wouldn't have made such a gaff. Although, in practise I think it's still true that they do: "nowhere is it stipulated that Bern is in fact the official capital of Switzerland. Hi Martijn, thank you for the great video. A question if I may: When I want to visit Murren, driving from Holland, do I need to leave my own car in Lauterbrunnen? If so, can you recommend a place? Thanks in advance! (text in English so more people can enjoy the information). Bedankt, groeten!
Hello Martijn, where is the building located that appears in the background when Jill first appeared in her mustang? I've searched Google earth and cannot find it.
@@onthetracksof007sorry, I said Jill, I meant Tilly, it's around 35:00 minutes into the movie, just after goldfinger scratches his nose and then bond is listening to his homer device it switches to Tilly rounding the corner behind him.
@@onthetracksof007 Thanks for the info Martijn, no wonder I couldn't find it. This was my first Bond movie in December of 64, I saw it when I was eleven. I enjoy your videos very informative, thanks again.
Bern is NOT a capital, just a federal city; that's a slight difference. Nevertheless, colloquial, Bern is often incorrectly referred to as the capital by the Swiss themselves (especially in the French part of the country)... It's a matter of education.
The capital is definitely Bern. That is where the Parlament building is. Also it's the most easily defenseable of the large cities whereas Zurich and Basel can be easily invaded.

Nice video, it brings back memories from the excellent OHMSS 50th anniversary trip. Thanks Martijn!
Glad you remember, Mark :-)
In our first look through 007's eyes we see the country in Spring/Summer and OHMSS it's in all her Winter glory
Murren is the most fantastic place ever. They still advertise James Bond filmed there. I had the best fried chicken ever there.
Absolutely superb. Love it.
Thanks Robert!
✨💖✨Very well done...I love it! ✨💖✨
Thanks Francis!
Wonderful Episode again. Thank you for doing these 25 Episodes and hopefully more... Bye Hilly!
Thank you Wolfgang!

@@onthetracksof007 I loved each one of them! But this latest is really something quite special!
And you if you look closely, I can be briefly seen in the Jeff Wybo’s video, what contributed to make it so much more special to me!
What on earth was that sound that Hilly was making!!?? Both disturbing and hysterical...I think I want it as my cell ring tone!

What a awesome place the ski location in Switzerland.
Beautiful Country.
Most beautiful country I'm yet to see. So desperate to go there.
Dear Marijn of course we have a capital and the city name is Bern. Cheers from Ticino

Love this video, had no idea how big of a star Switzerland is!
It's HUGE 🙂
Very good
Thank you, Jono!
I plan to visit the Schilthorn one day.
You should!
Our capital : Berne
Well, not according to your constitution 😜
According to the constitution, there isn't any capital.
Bern is the capital of Switzerland Martijn. Good video though.

Of course, that is what I was taught in school too. But the fact that it is 'not official' is kind of funny.

Hi, you can either travel by train from Lauterbrunnen, or by cablecar from Stechelberg. Both places have large parking lots.

there is a big error on your documentary, the official capital of switzerland is Bern from a verry very long time ago 😎🤪
Way too much time is spent interviewing the Austrian who discovered the OHMSS barn.
Why does everyone that does a Bond themed video feel compelled to wear a cheesy prom tux? News flash, you're not Bond, stop playing dress up.
🤣 It was actually the only thing in my wardrobe that I had not worn in any of these location videos 😜
@@onthetracksof007 Time to go shopping
