I paid $70 for my 2500 LT here in Canada. I use this reel on my ultra light setup with 10lb braid, and it's definitely my favourite spinning reel to date. It's a little pricey for a budget reel, I agree with you there, but it performs as well as some of my more expensive reels from abu garcia.
Nice reel. I use size 1000 for landbased saltwater fishing.

Should I get the 1000? Or the 2000? I’ll be using this for trout fishing and occasionally for bass when I don’t use my baitcaster.
I would go with the 2000 Incase you need more line for fishing other species. They are the same reel only difference is spool size.

Did you remo e the sticker on the spool before lining?
