your channel is going to blow up once people find you! From one guyanese to another I commend you on keeping our culture and food alive and relevant to the younger generation! It is so important :)
Matthew , hope all is well with you and family, I have enjoyed all of your videos and I must say you are an inspiration to all of us not forgetting an amazing cook ❤️😋🇬🇾🇬🇾
Matthew rocks. My wife made mithai following your recipe and sirni .You are so old school and simple without adding too much extra ingredients . Keep up the good work. I am making this tonight.
Today my uncle asked me how to make fat top and I blanked out, you save me 😂 Well watch me surprise him tomorrow with some fat top all thanks to you...thank you and keep documenting our traditional foods.
was looking at your channel from day one and one thing I love is the way you explain the science that happens in cooking thank you so much.also saw your channel through my favourite youtuber and my angel trini cooking with Natasha . you all are the BOMB!!!!
I am making this at the moment, I used all the exact measurements that Matthew listed but I add a water bath while my conmeal mixture is baking so I'm thinking this should make the bottom soft as well. Or also like chef Matthew said, add more liquid.
I have never heard of this cake and I am so happy I viewed this video. This cake is totally vegan and Glutenfree and I love it for that reason. I am not suppose to eat gluten and diary (even though I do sometimes). Thank you for sharing. You should totally rename this to Glutenfree and Vegan "Coconut cornmeal cake"
Liming With Sammie Yes it is vegan. I am really glad you enjoyed and you would be able to eat this. I can edit the name so people know its vegan thanks for mentioning that.
Real guyanese fat top we use to bake in the fireside in Guyana that was the best but I still make it in New York last week I made buns and cassava pone
I am making this now for my mom for mother's day. This her favorite dessert and she only gets it when she goes to New York. She gets it at spice world every friday lol
I am not sure if this is exactly what corn pone is (my guess is it is), but you can definitely make it without the fat. Go ahead and increase the sugar a bit in the cornmeal mix though to make up for not putting the "fat" on top.
I have never heard of Cardamon in Guyanese cooking. anyone know anything about this? Is this something people know about and was always used. I only leaned of Cardamon, not too long ago from Indian recipes
Zoch Buppet Cardamom is actually pretty common with Guyanese desserts. Some people don't use it but of course it depends on their tastes and how they make the dish.
This looks absolutely mouthwateringly delicious and I have never ever heard of this
Thank you very much

It was very good and delicious. I added more of the liquid ingredients. Also, how do you make the bottom softer? Really , easy and flavorful recipe
The more liquid you add to the bottom, the softer it stays.
I am making this at the moment, I used all the exact measurements that Matthew listed but I add a water bath while my conmeal mixture is baking so I'm thinking this should make the bottom soft as well. Or also like chef Matthew said, add more liquid.

AmsterdamBuhd Yes I do. I will make a video like that soon.
Can't wait.. I've got my bell icon on... blessings
AmsterdamBuhd It will have to be in a few weeks because I have exams coming up.
Ya, of course , Bruv. Get those good marks.
Can I used the cann coconut milk?
Yes
I want to make it tomorrow
Please do, and let me know how it turns out.
Well done
Thank you!
I try making today. Did come out good. The fat on top disappear.
Thanks for using my recipe. Sometimes the fat seeps to the bottom of the tray that's why I don't grease the sides of the tray, just the bottom
I didn’t grease the sides. What else did I do wrong?
@@marybassit8246 I am not sure. Maybe it was overcooked?
👍
Love to eat fat top finally the recipe thanks for sharing
Roumelia Lewis It is really good. Please give it a try.
Looks delicious! U can cook boy
Thank you. I really appreciate it.
Can this eat without the fat on top ?was looking for a corn pone recipe not sure if this is it 🤔
I am not sure if this is exactly what corn pone is (my guess is it is), but you can definitely make it without the fat. Go ahead and increase the sugar a bit in the cornmeal mix though to make up for not putting the "fat" on top.

Yes ....cardoman r elaichee'.....my mom use it in curry ....guyana ..hardly use that spice only in special Indian dishes ....
Then batter and deep fry, coat in white cane sugar and cinnamon 😍😩
Where can I get the actual recipe? Some of this and some one of that is not a recipe
As I said in the video, all of the ingredients and measurements are in the description box right below the video. Click to expand it.
Do you have a video to make " Jhandi Parsad " dont know if the spelling is right but its a sweet that usually served at Hindu's prayers .

Can I double the recipe
Yes you can!
Natasha refers you to me, she is awesome
Anthony Audain Yes she is. Thank you for checking my channel out.
Anthony Audain :
For the fat part can I double the recipe
Yes, it will only take longer to cook
U didn’t add essence?
You can add if you would like. I prefer not to.
I love laptop. The captions call it laptop
how to make salara
Seeta Singh Will do it soon
Thanks so much. do appreciate it
Achar please!
I have that recipe on my channel already
Make salara
Mine is not setting on that time and I bake at 350 degree
You can bake it a bit longer till it sets. Some ovens work differently and depending on the cornmeal it absorbs the milk differently
Fat top my aunty use to make
This recipe calls for too much ingridents and too much work, not really worth the time or energy or time! Make a cheesecake instead!
