I was about 8 years old and sitting in the living room with my grandma. I just knew I was singing my lil ole heart out lol. Miss Whitney was one of my earliest music inspirations🫶🏾.     Man, I remember watching this live in 96 at my Trailer Home in Allenhurst, Georgia. Great times. The radio stations waisted no time getting this over the airwaves. #LowCountry Whitney was a Monster when she was right.

Take notes people, how difficult that is sitting and expending that amount of energy through those folds at this degree! She’s just legendary!! Can someone tell me why Rolling Stones has her listed as number 34 out of 100 greatest singers?? Put her at number one where she belongs,put Aretha at number two!

      You gotta know your audience man. This was at the MTV Movie Awards in 1996-if it wasn’t hip hop or rap then they weren’t really interested. They missed out on a phenomenal vocal masterpiece because they wanted to hear about b**ches and h*es. But Whitney still sung beautifully. Now it’s considered one of her many many many most memorable live performances.

    She sound so amazing. I wouldn't say prime Whitney, maybe 90 - 92 was prime Whitney. During her I'm Your Baby Tonight & The Bodyguard soundtrack. I think during the time of this performance it was noticeable the quality of her voice had started to decline. I could be wrong, so yall correct if I am. But you know her vocals were so top tier that she still sound better than most if not all. I believe her concert in Japan in 91 she was sick but she still sound great. Another great song request, thanks Eugene.🌟 I enjoyed the reaction Jack.

      Yep, you're pretty much on it. Many say her peak prime was about '91-'94. But after the heavy touring from the Bodyguard era, her voice went into decline. But like you said she had such a phenomenal gift, and technique to where the damage wasn't noticeable for many years later.

    Check out her live performances of her IWALY live in Argentina on the bodyguard tour, vocal prime, she's in a brown blazer she killed it, it's one of her best. This song here was from the waiting to exhale, baby face worte it years earlier for her but she could not find the meaning, they show it in the movie as well but she later talked about it when the song came out. She finally wanted to record it obviously we know why! But check out the studio version for urself it's also incredible!

    She was in her second phase of her career she was from 1996 until about 2001 singing more with and R&B style her voice had choice from a perfect pitch to a deeper more edgy sound ...but I wouldn't call this prime whitney ..prime whitney was 1983 to 1993
