  • Short video with the repair of a DL501 Mechatronic unit using the repair kit available at VW / Audi dealers.
    Part number of the Repair kit : 0B5398048D
    Unit came in with the following Error codes :
    P17E1 00 - Gear Selector 2 Mechanical Malfunction
    P173F 00 - Valve 2 In Partial Transmission 1 - Electrical Error
    P1790 00 - Cooling oil Valve - Electrical Error
    P176C 00 - Gear Slector 3 Can not be Regulated

    Great job, nice info. Month before I had problem with such gearbox, piece of metal has stuck on magnet. It was unable to switch in second gear. Fix very easy. Good luck 😃🤞

    Hey jax good day....i have a question yea...i have a 7 speed dsg transmission my shift fork is damage so my mechanic here is saying i should change the whole thing but i cant find that specific tranny code pwz but i am seeing different variants like pwy,pww and pju can i use replace it ?

    Hello Sir.. I’m getting error Gearbox overheating change driving style and error code of Hydraulic pressure sensor 2 adaptation limit reach.. for my Audi A7 2013.. replacement of mechatronic repair kit 0B5398048D will solve this problem??

    Hello sir , I need to swap from a 0B5 gen 1 tcm to 0B5 gen 2 tcm for 2012 Audi q5 . I tried to read the eeprom & flash file from gen 1 but can’t able to write on gen 2 it saying file size is too high and also I want to know is it possible to do immo data from gen 1 to gen 2 tcm

    This video is fantastic. One question: Are the clutch solenoids universal they can fit in any slot their identical to each other. I dropped my mechanic unit today to replace PCB.

    What is the fourth selenoid used for? ( the one you did not change, is also not included in repair kit) thanks./

      Cooling valve. If you don't have an overheating problem, you don't need to worry about it.

      DL501 won’t throw code for overheating. If you’re getting the cooling code then that means the cooling component (solenoid) is faulty and needs replacing. Anyone doing this mech unit rebuild should definitely replace the cooling solenoid, several times I’ve ran into that being the root cause of mech unit failure, excessive fluid temps due to cooling solenoid causing electrical component failure..

    I purchased the same kit. Are the 2 larger solenoids interchangeable? I’m a little confused as to which one goes where, since they both look identical but have different part numbers on them.

    Hi .. I have Audi 7 2013.. transmission working absolutely fine just I’m getting error Gear is overheating change driving style .. and fault code is P1765 hydraulic sensor 2 adaptation limit reached .. pls advise what could be the actual problem??

      At 16:54, the cooling solenoid is center bottom of the screen.

    I replaced everything with the kit, reinstalled and filled up with oil. Engine is running, N and P ok but when I shift into drive. The engine cuts out. Any ideas?

      Erase all adaptation values and re adapt gearbox.

    did someone know what this small yellow plastic is for (at 18:00)?
    cant find any info about this. Its called VCI Protector Plate (i think VCI stands for: Valve Cooling Input).

      Did you find any info on the VCI plate? I am doing a rep kit on my own S5 in a short while, and haven’t been able to find any info on the small yellow plastic piece.

      The small yellow chip isn’t for the application, it’s a corrosion/rust/moisture inhibitor much like those Silica packets that you’ll find in shoe boxes.

    Hi sir, your doing great video, so happy about your video, my 2012 Audi A6 C7 Quattro with 0b5 gearbox is behaving erratically while shifting from P to D it jerks and shuts the engine with a Big bang particularly when the ATF is hot, and when ATF is cold its changing to D with a very little jerk, what could be the reason please help.

      The problem when it jerks from P to D is precisely in the live valves for even and odd speed, and all that matters is this smaller valve for oil temperature, take this set with valves for 6l of oil, both filters and the crankcase gasket, and get to work.

      So the shift solenoids need programming if changed? What about the clutch and cooling? My box has bad clutch solenoid so wanted to replace the coil and solenoid. Also where can I get them?

      @@GigiBeleaDK I'll get it out of Europe. Out of curiosity, the kit doesn't come with a second smaller solenoid, do you find that one (cooling control) rarely goes bad?

      @@corbettenders4257 The kit does come with the cooling solenoid but I guess is included in the kit for the hot climate countries where possible it goes bad. I live in Denmark and never had to change one because it was defective.

      @@GigiBeleaDK after you complete this repair, are you performing some clutch adaptation resets, etc? If so, can you describe which ones?

      For anyone that wants the torque specs: For the big solenoids with filters, bolts are 9.0Nm. For the smaller solenoid that has the o-ring, 3.9Nm. The circuit boards do have a sequence to follow, and the screws torque to 3Nm.
