Crazy how I used the exact filters and numbers using a stock screener on Fidelity Investments. The result was AVX corporation being the only one and with a 7-year difference from when he first used the filter in the video this company may be worth looking at. Thanks for the information!
Thanks Preston - I just checked the performance of these 6 stocks...AVX(9.5%), MKTAV(19%), MRVL(6%), MLR(10%),MW(-16%),XRTX(21%) annual return since you posted this. Though XRTX terminates 4/2014. Thanks for these videos. Looks like a sound formula for narrowing stocks.
I had the same issue. There is a "Sign in" option on the top right hand side. You need to log in using your Gmail Account details to avoid a blank Market Summary. It worked for me!
Hey Preston, I cannot find the Google screener you talk about here, has it been removed? If so, can you recommend one that covers Australian (ASX) stocks?
Dear sir I am today new in market read a book waren buffet accounting book.... but some point is very confusion and I did not getting key ratio about 10 years in morning star... so please help me how to get 10 year data in one line in msn money or morning star...
Hi Preston. Thanks for the videos. They are really helpful. I looked up the 6 companies which came in your result and none of them(except Makita Corporation) have shown significant growth in the last 6 years(when the video was uploaded, and 6 year is a good term). I understand that nothing is certain in the equity market but only one out of 5 results being positive is too less. Is there something I'm missing? Please guide.
Thanks for the share on the Google screener Preston, Here in Australia we have to pay for screeners which are no where near as simple and useful as this one. It is difficult to get it to work at times though.
VERY PRACTICAL, INFORMATIVE AND USEFUL VIDS... KEEP IT UP PRESTON.. But im having some issue though as im investing on Philippine market. Google doenst cover PSE in their financials.
what is the difference between debt/equity and total debt/equity? Also, are these numbers fixed for different sectors, I mean if I am comparing a bank to IT company, should I be using the same filters?
Please advise why buy company w dividends and get hit with high ordinary income Vs buy company with low or no dividend so to b qualified as long term gain?
I haven't been very lucky with the Google stock screener working all the time. I've switched over to the Fidelity screener. It still allows for ranges, where most screeners do not. This is the link - research2.fidelity.com/Screener
Dear Preston, I was wondering since you mentioned in the video that we should dig deeper into the company after all the numbers check out to be good, what sort of things should we be looking out for? If the company is checks out for all the numbers and everything looks like it's steadily trending in the right direction (book value growth, eps, and debt is managed well), are these all the things I need to look for or is there more to it? Also, I'm wondering why you put 4 as the lower value for the stock screener since you mentioned earnings would be negative if the value turns up negative, but why not put in 3 or 2? I suppose it's because that means the company is growing too fast to be in a stable state? Thank you so much for your videos. They are awesome and super concise. Great work and keep it up! :)
Hey, Preston! I actually have the same doubt as rist98. On the Total Debt/Equity you put 1%. Isn't that a little low? When first calculating debt/equity you said the number we'd be looking for is 0.5 or lower. Isn't that 50%? I don't know if this is because I'm looking at the Brazilian Market, but I could only find 6 companies with total debt/equity BELOW 50%. Anyway, if you could shed a light it would be very much appreciated! Thanks for the videos, by the way! =)
2019. Google screener is gone. I am following using investing.com, which works fine until the Return on Equity criteria which is absent. In any case right now even without that I have 3 companies left, and I think I will have to calculate that by myself.
Hi Preston, I used the stock screener and came across this stock: CRR. on the surface this ticker obviously passes all 4 rules of a "good stock" but the recommendations on it is a SELL and it's value is half of the intrinsic value (Considering I made it right). So how could it be ? Thanks for the spectacular videos.
I love your course but a lot of the things and websites that you can talk about like the Google scan tools don’t work like that anymore MSNmoney doesn’t work like that anymore so you should definitely have a refresher for the tool course of looking at these things
Google stock screener is not easy to save and check every day. This link might be helpful: www.google.com/finance/stockscreener?&c0=MarketCap&min0=100M&c1=DividendYield&min1=2&max1=7&c2=PE&min2=0.01&c2=PE&max2=15&c3=PriceToBook&min3=0.5&max3=1.5&c4=TotalDebtToEquityQuarter&min4=0&max4=1.0&c5=CurrentRatioYear&min5=1.5
debt to equity, and current ratio. Aren't they same thing?
7 лет назад
As I understand it, debt to equity is debt ratio against things the company already owns. Current ratio is "incoming cash in 12 months" / "outgoing cash in 12 months"
thanks for making such videos....garbage ppls collect every day..but gold and diamonds ...yearly one or two time. This will help to identify gems in garbage.
mr preston, what you do is noble, i hope the goodness you spread returns to you.. thankyou
when I get old I will remember your great teaching videos
This was good.. For recent viewers, it appears Google no longer offer this stock screener
You are the best teacher ever. I have learnt so much from you ever since I got your link.
hi guys, i am watching this in 2018, and google screener seems to be stopped working...
@@marcusdown261Wonderful, thanks!
R.I.P. stock screener from google finance ... We'll miss you
Is the scock screener dead?
bratt peterson Yeah ):

6:50 I'm confused, in the previous lesson, you added the LT debt with the current debt, wouldn't that be total debt?
That would’ve been my next question, how to scan for them! Thank you
Thanks Preston - I just checked the performance of these 6 stocks...AVX(9.5%), MKTAV(19%), MRVL(6%), MLR(10%),MW(-16%),XRTX(21%) annual return since you posted this. Though XRTX terminates 4/2014. Thanks for these videos. Looks like a sound formula for narrowing stocks.
MKTAV and XTRV did well .. These numbers are so important
XRTX *
Hi Preston,
Google no longer have stock screener. Any other stock screener that we can use.
Thank you
and have a great day.
Google screener has gone. Can you please do a tutorial on another screener that you think is reasonably reliable?
Perfect, this is exactly what I was looking for! Nice clear explanation of how to use it, thanks for posting.
Google Stock Screener crashes the moment I adjust any of the criteria. It just shows a blank Market Summary.
I had the same issue. There is a "Sign in" option on the top right hand side. You need to log in using your Gmail Account details to avoid a blank Market Summary. It worked for me!
im signed in. doesn't work

Hi Preston, I wonder why you haven't chosen any Growth Filter. Any comments?
Thank you for this video. it is really helpful for beginner. I really like your channel
Thanks helped a lot. I can't count how many apps I have downloaded that basically suck.

Thanks Preston, Once you have some symbols, what do you do with them next ?

wuld like to know,da alternative for google stock screener?
I love your course but a lot of the things and websites that you can talk about like the Google scan tools don’t work like that anymore MSNmoney doesn’t work like that anymore so you should definitely have a refresher for the tool course of looking at these things
How do I save the stock screener criteria this is driving me insane lolz!
As usual, really useful!
Do you still use this screener? or have you found another that you like more nowadays?
Google Stock Screener no longer exists. :-(
can't find stock screener ?
I think you definately meant a debt to equity % of 100% which would be a 1.0 debt to equity ratio.
Debt to equity of 1%??? I'm kinda new, but that seems awfully tight of a criteria.
Thank you so much for this useful data! Greatly appreciated.
Thank you for this informative lesson!

Hello Sir, I just came across your channel while trying to learn about trading. Thank you so much for all you doing. I've subbed:)
I have some problems using the Google Stock Screener. Does it work only in the U.S?
Google stock screener is down right with no return date known.
it works for any country
debt to equity, and current ratio. Aren't they same thing?
As I understand it, debt to equity is debt ratio against things the company already owns. Current ratio is "incoming cash in 12 months" / "outgoing cash in 12 months"
well explained and very simple
Thank you very much Preston with all the information I had here, I made very good investments!
finviz is another screener
Very nice video.. Thank you for sharing information with us. :)
Great! What do you recommend as an alternative to Google stock screener? I have been using finviz for now

These old useless videos are so frustrating. The google screener as shown here does not exist anymore apparently .
