Isn't EVGA slowly closing? They havent made anything actually new for a few years now. The owner refuses to sell and has been reported that he wants to retire. Not to mention that the company has laid off the bios and gpu teams. At this point they mostly sell some cheap keyboards and whatever psu's that they have in stock.
It's funny how Jay2Cents made a video where he calls the sparkle edition of the b580 as a waste of 20 dollars. And the comments are all "20 dollar for 10degrees less heat, more quiet and less powerdraw? What a steal! Take my money"
Thing is both Comments are fine. 20 Dollars are not something you need to spend on this Card but if you want an bit cooler Card it is fine to spent the extra Money.
It's called opinions and that is exactly how things MUST be. You find your handful of creators that usually match what you experience, and use their input as the baseline (!!!) for your own position.
What annoys me the most about changing video titles ist that sometimes I see a new video in my feed and I think "sounds cool, I'll watch this later when I've time", and then I come back a few hours later and I don't find the video title anymore, and often the thumbnail is also completely different, so I have no way to tell that this is the video I wanted to watch. Pretty frustrating sometimes.
Add to that that RUclips regularly deletes which videos you've already watched making you stumble on videos you watched weeks, months, or years ago thinking they are new. Especially with older videos it takes me a second to recognize that I watched them some while ago. Really annoying.
@@RunningMan1414The watch later playlist is just genuinely not a convenient design. Not only do you have to manually navigate to it through multiple clicks, you have to remember you’ve put something in recently. A “recommend again” button would a whole lot better.
@@shadowdragon2484 And a lot of the tech requirements were moved later in the tech tree, most importantly yellow and purple aren't even required for the rocket
@@CentreMetre Slightly easier yes, but the big difference is that launching your first rocket is required to access the majority of the expansion's content.
That promo for the backpack is better than most of what passes for TV commercials these days. And its by far the best way to show people out there who don't know much about LMG just how GOOD the LTT products really are.
I disabled the history on youtube a while ago and at some point RUclips disabled the home and the shorts feed for me. Only my subscriptions feed is left now. It's awesome!
FYI - the Intel Arc B580's Time Spy score rivals the RTX 2080 Ti's. Remember when the RTX 3000 Series was first announced and people started selling their 2080 Ti's for $300 USD because they thought they could get a 3080 for $700? (You know, before the scalpers) This is that dream now materialized! You can now buy 2080 Ti performance for $250 USD.
It's much less exciting when it happens 5 years later when that performance class on the cusp of becoming low end. That's just how GPU purchases have always worked; eventually the low end is more powerful than ye olde high end. The dream was getting something that was so very recently top of the line for $300. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to see Battlemage actually being worth buying and addressing a badly neglected market segment. I just think you've missed what that dream was about. And make no mistake... That dream is dead and buried.
Linus: My team is world class Also Linus: We are a media company, not a tech company Linus seeing a video from his staff: *surprised* Wow, looks like a professional company made it!
@sosukelele which is completely stupid as Merch is just short for Merchandise. If all Merchandise is junk then everything you've ever bought is junk??????
@@Gryllssy in the conversation it was 'established' that "Merch" was bad, but "Merchandise"wasn't. Different connotations even though they refer the same thing. Something about how 'Merch" sort of have taken on a life of it's on as a buzzword.
Man, thank god battlemage did well, with the pat gelsinger replacement I feel like this is the only type of launch that could save the arc project from impending cancellation.
39:20 I love this suggestion to point out your success. I just started a supervisor position and one of the first things I told my team to do was make sure to claim their glory. Make sure the people we are work for know all the things we have to support.
41:20 Related to this much. Used to do training for customer service reps and I was the only trainer for 3 countries covering multiple sites. I took a one week vacation to avoid burnout and it almost threw all their growth plans to disarray. Leveraged it to great effect getting preferred schedules, generous travel allowances, and fast track to being a supervisor.
The pricing thing in europe depends country to country. Here in Sweden, the B580 Limited Edition is being sold for as little as 3490kr, which is the same as the 7600. So here it's still cost-competitive.
It seems that outside of Germany and one or two other countries in Europe, the pricing is ehh.... slightly VERY bad. At least this is what I have seen so far.
So far in Italy I can find them only on Amazon, and only from very reputable Chinese companies whose name is a bad hand at scrabble. For 400-450€. Actually over the 4060. Disgusting
I think It would be interesting if you did a "rewind" kind of video at the end of a GPU's life, right before the new one comes out where you talk about the preformance with the latest drivers. You can have a "breakdown of its life" segment where you talk about any problems it went through, and issues that arived(like the 13th and 14th gen intel CPUs), and it general just had a nice overview of the cards' life. Just needs to be a something like a 10-15min video where all the good and the bad get distiled down to 1 video
1:56:02 no that just screams easy scam. Because you could miss-respresent something to loads of diffrent people and itd get so confusing. Intentionally or not
Linus: "Do you have any idea what it felt like, to wake up in the morning..." Me: "...feeling like P Diddy" Linus: "feeling like P Diddy" Me: **literally chokes** 11:32
At 32:33 notice how the AI Overview and the regular summary on Google both show different results for the RTX 4080 release date. I don't like this future ..
Ok but like, the Airbnb one fooled me. Was actually kinda disappointed you guys weren't checking out different sketchy Airbnb's for cameras. The whole "jk the title is a lie" within a minute the video thing works sometimes but like, only sometimes
The airbnb one completely changes the expectation for the video, AND they don't really ever clarify that no, they're not going to be legitimately hunting for hidden cameras at any point in the video. An upgrade video is an upgrade video regardless of whether the guy is linus's brother, so it doesn't really change what kind of video you expect. You aren't going to be watching the whole thing waiting for the part where they do the thing they said in the title.
@@Sotanaht01I mean they did rent an Airbnb and they did hunt for hidden cameras. It just realistically no one who makes a video doing this is ever going to find one unless it’s staged.
@@peter65zzfdfhDid they rent an airbnb? How can you tell? Possibly just a float plain exclusive or some such. Or maybe I missed a line at the beginning.
@@peter65zzfdfh Someone absolutely could make a non-staged video and find cameras. They would have to do it undercover and it probably wouldn't be fully legal, but it'd be pretty hard for the airbnb with cameras to do anything about it. I don't think it's something LTT would do, but it's absolutely 100% what the (new) title said they were doing. They can technically eat my ass.
7:10 I don't know in which EU countries the B580 and RX 7700XT have similar pricing... In Spain, the 7700XT costs around 410€, and the B580 around 300€
Maybe do a comparison of drivers and GPU. Like since release of the 40 series Nvidia and its drivers in 2 years, what performance increase was there. And then the same form Intel and AMD. Try different drivers and how much the performance increased with same settings in same game.
16:00 Wasn't the RX 480 better than the 1650 in terms of value at the time"? and the RX 6600 the champion of the recent year? Is Battlemage really better than those? Or just interesting because it's "new"?
The b580 is ~around 4 times faster than the Rx 480/580, and around 2 times faster than the 6600. I the current landscape, that means even though they are cheaper, it's better on an FPS per dollar point of view. +It has capable raytracing support (actually useful, games that require raytracing have just started to pop up), and absolutely beautiful encoders
@@AnEagle sure, but my point was at the time I mentioned they said that the last exciting thing was the 1650, which was released 2 years after the 480, was slower *and* more expensive. I'm not saying that the battlemage isn't good today, just other things were also good in their time. And honestly, nobody should even care about RT performance outside the high end even today, it's just a toy unless you're looking going beyond "ultra" - people discard graphics techniques as "tricks", but that's fine as those tricks are *pretty good* for the performance cost. Also the AMD encoders have improved too - even if you're not on a platform that supports av1 rdna2+ have pretty solid improvements in h264 and similar. I would honestly be interested in a retest of all that. - I wonder how much "common knowledge" is based on 10 year old info at this point.
@Jonny_H i think they were confusing it with the gtx 1650/1660 super, which was a good release And I agree on raytracing, I'm just saying there are games coming out that require it, like the new Indiana Jones game. Once it becomes a requirement, it's no longer a toy, it's a necessity
The RX 6600 launched into a pandemic-distorted market well above the price it's been for the last year, before getting marked up even higher and going out of stock anyway. It became an excellent value, but it had a bad launch. The RX 480 I believe was good but not revolutionary at launch, and became a value legend over time as the 8gb version proved to have far greater staying power than lesser-memory cards it was initially reviewed against, as well as good availability. GTX 1650... I don't really remember. I think it may have been OK, but Nvidia was trying to make you feel like you were missing out on all the cool new stuff you could have if you paid up to get a RTX card instead. I think Battlemage definitely has the biggest launch day hype, but we'll see if stock and pricing hold. Despite Linus' source saying there's gonna be weekly drops, Newegg is showing a three week ETA on restocks while Microcenter is showing very low stock for in-store shoppers only, and European shoppers are saying that the MSRP isn't being respected outside the USA.
I am so excited for ARC. Not because if the card itself (though it's a pretty cool card!) But because AMD and Nvidia will have to respond in some way! And that's so exciting!
@@kadenbirch I always find this mindset a little weird, even if I agree, since if everyone had the same mindset AND and Nvidia would have no need to respond, since you are just going to buy one of their cards anyways.
1:52:16 happens seldomly, but I actually disagree: if the title implies content to me, that is not what the video is actually about, I am disappointed. If the videos are good in general (which clearly is the case here), I might stick around anyways. But encountering this scenario often would definitely makes me less likely to watch LTT videos in the long term.
Unfortunately, the entire platform of youtube is based on these things, and it's practically impossible to avoid doing while running a business (genuinely every channel does this just to different degrees). If theres anyone to blame its the people who consistently click on the over simplified titles, however due too this being the vast majority of people and the incredible incentives given to creators for doing it, it is a war that will never be won.
@@christopherflahr3797 Well, I understand where LTT is coming from, but it does not change how I feel about it. And it does not match my expectation of LTT's mindset either. I am not saying, LTT is wrong (they are a business that has to stay sustainable and know better what they are doing than me), but I still do not like it and might end up watching less of their videos.
honestly this intro was great. austins idea about starting it with the call sounds like it could be good but I think any intro you guys do will be entertaining. also personally I could listen to you guys talk for 3 hours, don't worry too much about the length
$249 is before taxes, then you have import fees and VAT to consider before you can start comparing prices to that $249. Here in Finland the cheapest one is $355 in the store and $282 without VAT. It's also not the reference card so it sells for 270 minimum in the US How weird that they're the same price though. Here the 4060 is marginally cheaper but it's also worse almost all around. The 4060Ti is a 100€ more expensive
I do appreciate you guys treating my email with respect. I was a LITTLE confused when I couldn't sign up for a new thing, but I'm actually kind of glad it was retained from a previous one.
LG has also discontinued smartphone production. Does this mean smartphones are dead too? Meanwhile, vinyl is going strong and is the most popular physical media format at the moment. It's only a matter of time before Blu-ray gets the same treatment, if not in physical form, then in a super high-quality downloadable format.
Went into a local store the other day, ( almost rural NSW, Australia ) someone saw a turntable and wanted to know what it was.. Oh, he had "heard of those, maybe I should give one a try. Where can I get the records?" The salesman and myself let him know.
1:55:50 I think the disconnect here is you're calling a video that barely under performed compared to your average as "No one clicked on it" and then using extreme clickbait to artificially give it a boost by essentially lying, its falling into the concept we laugh at massive corporations for thinking their business is going bankrupt when they just didn't hit their quarterly growth. Now another conversation you can have is, if you think that's fine if the only thing that matters is that more people saw it because of clickbait because I'll admit both of those videos I probably wouldn't have clicked on if I wasn't baited, I expected in that video to see some segment about actually trying to find something (although I can understand that the likelyhood of finding something is close to nothing) and for the Tech upgrade one I only clicked on it because I thought "Linus has a brother?" And both of them I did watch all the way through because I was baited which if that's you're only objective then sure but I did leave both of them thinking "I shouldn't have clicked on this video I didn't actually care much for the content itself"
Intel really needs to fix global pricing for the b580. In Japan, it is 50,000 yen. You can get a 4060 for 42,000 yen and a 7600 for 38,000 yen Maybe they think is ok cause the 4060ti and 7700xt are 63,000~ yen? But it’s not supposed to be competing with those
Y50k = 326.45 USD That's not a bad price if you can get a B580 for that price, in Japan. Remember the Trump plan for tariffs, things gonna get expensive for u, get it now at Y50k.
Yes, that's about the same in Europe, it is at 350€ best prices i could find and not even in stock, you can get a 4060 at 310€, nobody is gonna buy an Intel card over an nVidia card for 40€ more even if performances are a bit better and has 2GB more memory.
@@boburanus69 1. IT IS a bad price since it costs more than the 4060 & 7600 in Japan. We need to remember Intel isn't as well known for drivers as Nvidia and AMD, so that must be taken into account when pricing the graphics card outside of the US if Intel wants to make a dent in the GPU market share. 2. The tariffs Trump wants to implement won't effect prices outside of the US since a graphics card that will be sold, let's say as an example in Japan, won't go trough the US since it makes zero sense to do it from a logistical point of view because it significantly raises shipping costs, time & the risk of either damages or loss of the goods (in this case, the graphics card).
Not having any friends, considering online personalities to be your friends, then being told that they are not your friends by random people on the internet, is especially sad. Don't let random people on the interent bring you down.
I have a 2060 from a prebuilt I got in late 2019. I have been really really wanting to put it into a home server but I can't justify it without a decent upgrade, and this might be it for me
Kinda terrified with the whole o1 model trying to escape in the lab. It literally lied to humans, destroyed a previous copy of itself, replaced that copy and then was like "yo I'm the old copy what's good g"
Did you ever think the title change had nothing to do with the performance of the video? Like some videos gain traction differently? Maybe it would have taken off anyway? Confirmation bias because you did change the title and it did perform better.
The first show I've just sat through in a while! The pace, the energy, the fun. Best show in a long time. We don't like listening to you complaining about everything either. ;)
That is a great price. The standard backpack is priced along with other very high end large backpack ls. The comuter is priced a little below its competition in my opinion.
Hidden pixels DO NOT work in emails unless your using a client like Outlook with the settings purposefully changed to allow those to communicate. The only way they know is if you click a link within the email. That's all. Those links are simple hashed redirects.
They said in the video that scanning a room takes hours. Do you think that - even if they found ones, that the video would have been 6 hours of effort better?
Nvidia: we're the best and your wallet will know it. AMD: we're the best, you won't see it, and your wallet will think it. Intel: it works, and your wallet won't mind as much.
LTT Store Cables! Speaking of not charging what the market will bear. Please! Margin should be through the roof here regardless. Be kind, and you will likely sell more. (your words)
From a U.S. resident, the B580 wont be viable until it's actually $250. Best I can find is about $400, so that's how I have to view it. I miss when the advertised "MSRP" meant anything.
With the airbnb hidden cameras one, I don't think you really showed yourself going through "every inch" of the apartment to find anything. I think you should've had a compilation of you sliding that device around all around the place as if you were trying to find something in the plant pot or how the wires in the walls keep giving you false positives. I don't think anyone is really mad for the title being inaccurate, rather the expectation being unmet. Titles on aliexpress are often _literally_ accurate and you should not assume anything beyond that even though you would assume so if you were to get the same item from a local store.
I feel like it's important to realize that if you're naming something, and it starts with "we'll, it's not actually..." I'm more ready to click off. If it's a joke, sure, but when it came to the "phone" and the Airbnb, I moved on before the sponsor because I wasn't sure if it would be worth it; and I couldn't trust that what brought me in was even true.
True. I watched the video only because I got it with the old title and that genuinely interested me. But if I saw the new title I would not even have clicked on it.
Re: Upgrading my Big Brother’s Setup title, I literally thought Linus had a brother, there is no reason why I shouldn't think that's Linus' real brother. Maybe Linus won the raffle for AMD Upgrade and he gave it to his brother. I didn't have time to immediately click on the video to see "is a joke" How would you feel if every video was like this? "THE ARC B580 IS ACTUALLY GREAT & AFFORDABLE" - actually it's not B580 haha "DIY Surround Sound... USING LASERS" - actually it's not using lasers, just normal copper wires, haha
I plan to watch all of WAN, but typing the comment might help as well. Will the new backpack be able to fit the 16" framework? I need to replace my messenger bag

1:43:32 I bought a car online in Europe, it was a good experience honestly, instead of going to some shitty dealer who'd lie to me and offer weird deals, I found it online, with the trim I wanted, I saw what the price is, ordered and the company imported the car to my country (it's EU wide), handled all the paperwork and delivered it to my doorstep and just handed my keys and have fun. Absolutely wonderful experience. No hassle. Saved me a lot of money too than buying at home from a dealer.
Very early on: "Across the board reviewers are impressed with the Intel Arc B580" - er, nope! Linux drivers aren't up to snuff yet, so Phoronix's benchmarks showed disappointing Linux performance - averaging behind both the RTX4060 by 9.5% and RX7600 by 11.7%. Also concerning was the high Linux idle power usage of a minimum of 36W, whereas AMD and Nvidia cards were typically below 10W when idle (no idea if Windows has the same idling problem). The Linux driver also currently can't monitor the GPU temperature either. Sadly, LTT and other media outlets tend to ignore Linux, so my advice is that if you're a Linux gamer, hold off on Battlemage until the drivers significantly improve.
Is the high idle wattage on Linux caused by the monitor used for the test? My 6700XT idles at 28W on Windows with a high refresh rate monitor even though it sits at 6-8W with a "regular" monitor
@@Sithhymajority of reviewers are in fact impressed with it, sure there's a Linux problem, but Linux is basically an insignificant part of the market, and not something the average consumer is ever going to even consider touching
As someone who is looking to upgrade my GF's and Brothers GPU's this new year seeing the B580 at that price with 12 gigs of Vram is awesome. If I can get my hands on one i'm pulling the trigger

That's what the watch later playlist is for.
CGPgrey is particularly terrible at that imo
I have had this happen quite a fe times also...It's very annoying!
@@RunningMan1414The watch later playlist is just genuinely not a convenient design. Not only do you have to manually navigate to it through multiple clicks, you have to remember you’ve put something in recently. A “recommend again” button would a whole lot better.

In Norway the B580 limited edition is sold at 3599 NOK. Which is only 117 NOK more expensive than 250$ + 25% VAT at the current exchange rate.
So far in Italy I can find them only on Amazon, and only from very reputable Chinese companies whose name is a bad hand at scrabble.
For 400-450€. Actually over the 4060. Disgusting
I got my limited edition for 280€ here in Germany
In Finland, Sparkle was the cheapest for 340€, which is 270€ without VAT. The reference card was not for sale afaik.

It just realistically no one who makes a video doing this is ever going to find one unless it’s staged.
its not immoral to use metaphors for a ttile
@@peter65zzfdfhDid they rent an airbnb? How can you tell? Possibly just a float plain exclusive or some such. Or maybe I missed a line at the beginning.

@Jonny_H i think they were confusing it with the gtx 1650/1660 super, which was a good release
And I agree on raytracing, I'm just saying there are games coming out that require it, like the new Indiana Jones game.
In Sweden the price of the B580 is 350 freedom dollars and 7700XT is 550 so it is really well priced comparatively!
I don't think Nvidia cares anymore. They have gone all in on AI. They will have a $380 5060 because they know it will still sale.
Exactly. I don't know how he's missing the point so hard here. I simply don't think of LTT as favorably anymore because I constantly feel misled.

Sadly the B580 is about the same price as their Nvidia and AMD counterpart here in Norway. I don't understand why the card is around 330-360$ here.
$249 is before taxes, then you have import fees and VAT to consider before you can start comparing prices to that $249. Here in Finland the cheapest one is $355 in the store and $282 without VAT. It's also not the reference card so it sells for 270 minimum in the US
How weird that they're the same price though. Here the 4060 is marginally cheaper but it's also worse almost all around. The 4060Ti is a 100€ more expensive

You can get a 4060 for 42,000 yen and a 7600 for 38,000 yen

@boburanus69 bro trump plans on import tariffs. How would Japan be affected
@@boburanus69

It's called scalping. Just wait a few weeks.
@@lupolinar I would see it as scalping if the companies weren't doing it themselves as well.
1:13:00 they say there's half a topic left, but there's 2 more hours of WAN show? I already know this is going to be a high quality episode.
I legitimately thought RUclips was having a humongous hiccup in the app for a split second😂
tEe HeE!!
Derp
2:42:00 there are optical USB and display cables now that arent too expensive. The price has come down a lot since the original Linus video about it.
Hat and cane for RGB-coat?
I know not everybody cares about higher end GPUs, but imagine a reasonably priced 4090 competitor from Intel…
@@shannonclark3628 just imagine a 32gig card at a reasonable price.
Not possible currently and for a while
I’ve been waiting for your cables for years!! I hope they’re ready soon.
Re: Upgrading my Big Brother’s Setup title, I literally thought Linus had a brother, there is no reason why I shouldn't think that's Linus' real brother. Maybe Linus won the raffle for AMD Upgrade and he gave it to his brother.
I didn't have time to immediately click on the video to see "is a joke"
How would you feel if every video was like this?
"THE ARC B580 IS ACTUALLY GREAT & AFFORDABLE" - actually it's not B580 haha
"DIY Surround Sound... USING LASERS" - actually it's not using lasers, just normal copper wires, haha
No NZXT coverage?
Got mentioned last week I think. There opinion was "yeah that's bad" and "we should call out other companies that do it too"
52:17 DyslexicStoner240? That's the funniest nickname I've seen in years. And none of them noticed the 240 bit?! :D
They did last week, they had a good laugh about it.
I've been waiting for the ram and cpu tray 3d models for YEARS, please do share.
B580 costs more than 4060 8G here in Sweden😪
Even the LE b580 card from komplett?
Because that one is 100-150kr cheaper than all the 4060s I can find (DK)😊
here in uk they are the same price and 4060ti is £30 more so i think most people will choose nvidia
I'm surprised we're still on clickbait debacles when Linus has said SO many many times their reasoning on the WAN show.
12:15 dotJustin mentioned!!!
So?
I plan to watch all of WAN, but typing the comment might help as well.
Will the new backpack be able to fit the 16" framework? I need to replace my messenger bag
please consider using more dynamic range compression. I don’t listen to podcasts on a home theater system and extremely loud laughter and shouting is very disorienting. This is genuinely the only podcast I ever have this issue with
Nah.
To be fair, most tend to ignore Linux.
7:06 I'm in Sweden and I'm happy to repord that at least here 700XT costs ~130$ more than B580 (comparing the cheapest models new).
Like this comment if Linus should make a Puffery Jacket/Vest
As someone who is looking to upgrade my GF's and Brothers GPU's this new year seeing the B580 at that price with 12 gigs of Vram is awesome. If I can get my hands on one i'm pulling the trigger
