In case you want to update a typo - Identical by Descent is IBD, not IDB. I didn't realized MyHeritage had an auto-cluster tool - thanks for that tidbit - going to check that out now!

My closest paternal matches from Ancestry are not.mnowm by paternal relatives. Neither return a simple message, and the one blocked me. The closest one and I shared 945 CMs. The next closest one shared 415 CMs. The weekend after I got blocked, I met a salesperson at a retail shop that had the same name and had a
shocked look on her face when she typed my phone number into the touch register and saw my name. She was under 30 and looked like my Ex from 40 years ago. What's the probability of her being a half niece?.

I think that you should caution people that government agencies are very interested in your DNA segments and how they match certain criminal elements. Even though the website might assure you that the information is private and can not be shared, there are still ways that agencies have to access this information. Y

I'd be perfectly happy if my DNA data was used to catch a murderer or rapist.

@@nickmiller76 Maybe but what if you are constantly being watched by LE because you share certain DNA markers that are attributed to being more likely to be a killer?

Well, Ancestry not offering a chromosome browser makes it hard for Law Enforcement to do the kind of analysis you're describing--unless the user uploads their info into GEDmatch.

@@sylviabargas3340 true.....although I suspect that there might be ways around GEDmatch. As our world is increasingly AI the problem is not human.
