I grew up w my step dad being in and around the WH guys. I never understood how he escaped jail time, or death. So many times come home to find kids all over, women in kitchen and guys in the living room. My step dad was Greek but only had Italians and Irish friends. The comment about Whitey being a coward shooting from a far is true. I sat at Whiteys kitchen table when I was 18 year old with a cop friend of his (now long dead) while they planned to fly into Nashville, “see a guy”, drive up say hi “Steve” (funny the cops name was Steve also) when he answers in affirmation they were going to drive off. The next day the plan was that whitey was gonna shoot him when he was going into work on Broadway in Nashville. This was back in 88. Whitey ended up leaving Nashville before killing the mark. I never really figured out why. I moved to Nashville in 89 at 19 and started life. But in 94 with 2 kids in tow I was on vacation in FL … imagine my surprise when I saw Whitey staring at me from across a restaurant. I did a double take when I realized who it was. He slowly slid his finger up aside his nose (shhhhhh). As a matter fact, today is the first I am even speaking of it. Hearing the old tales bring back so much. Btw wasn’t Okeefe a teacher at southern JR High?? I spent a year at western and a year at southern. I can’t remember. (Sorry side track) I love that you are doing these vids. Loads of memories even for someone my age. So many folks mentioned that I have had in and outa my life. People think these guys were all horrible people, no, they were and still are good people! Stay outa stupid shit and they were good people, get in stupid shit they set you straight. The Foss park pool 10cents for the day as long as you kept your basket band. Sad to see all that gone now.
