Tunguska was real.... right up until the spores and the weird alien lobster. Every good fiction starts with a nugget of truth, no matter what the subject. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tunguska_event Basically, summer 1908, out in the Siberian middle-of-nowhere, something hit the atmosphere and *almost* made it to the ground. When it blew apart from heating, it was still at some height; but it was a powerful enough explosion to flatten 830 square miles of trees. Computer modeling finally nailed it down as a 65 meter diameter asteroid that blew 6-9 miles from the ground. Anything comes in at the speed these do and if it isn't big enough the heat generated just turns it to dust....quickly enough that it's a 'bang' roughly the size of a thermonuclear bomb.
LOL cool video.. but actually has zero to do with the song itself. The song is part of a group of songs based on the writings of H.P. Lovecraft. He created a mythos based upon Ancient Ones and Elder Gods that existed prior to mankind. Cthulhu herself is one of them, and the instrumental song 'Call of Ktulu' off of the 'Ride The Lightning' album is a tribute to her.. so to speak lol. The song 'The Thing That Should Not Be' is also based upon one of the gods in the Cthulhu mythos. That god is named Dagon.. or Father Dagon (paired with Mother Hydra if you happen toplay the 'Call of Cthulhu pen-and-paper roleplaying game.) This song, All Nightmare Long, is based upon a group of creatures within the mythos caled 'The Hounds of Tindalos' which are basically wolves that hunt you through their nightmares. If I remember properly, the way you attract their attention is by time travel. Then the hunt is on. The last song is off of their newest album, "Hardwired.. To Self-Destruct," and is called "Dream No More" which is, again, dedicated to Cthulhu. As an avid RPG gamer from the 80's and 90's, I was extremely happy that Metallica had a shared interest in these things.
Hounds of Tindalos isn't really something you can express in a music video format... too obscure, too "unreal". Too complicated. So instead they let Kirk run with an awesome horror movie :)
I'm really enjoying your reactions to Death Magnetic it's an album that I liked and not alot of people give it the time. You mostly just see reactions to their older stuff which is great but it's so common. It's just fun seeing you getting some enjoyment out of it and giving it the time it deserves. I think you should check out music from their album Hardwired to Self Destruct album after your done.
What’s happening is when the asteroid destroyed the Tunguska forest they founds spores that can take over and sort of revive nervous systems. Like zombies.

This is one of the worst Metallica songs to try and listen to for the first time while paying attention to the video which has NOTHING to do with the song (though, the same can be said about The Day That Never Comes which is about abuse not the military).
Actually, Communist Soviet Union, an arch enemy of the Nazis due to their International Socialism, rather than the National(super race) idea of the National Socialists. They had many similarities though. AN all powerful state, forced conformity, massive public festivals, and works projects, etc.

interesting. I always thought it was about Freddy Krueger. All the lyrics totally fit the theme of A Nightmare on Elm Street.
Her? Cthulhu is a her??
I have been waiting for this specific song
Subbed because you’re one of the very few reaction channels that actually paid attention to the music video

Now, you need to react to "My Apocalypse" (last track from "Death Magnetic" album)
10:11 I'm still amazed no one talks about Zombie Ghandi just chilling
My favorite Metallica song other than No Leaf Clover

@@MrPotatoesLatkie those are pretty shallow things to say that these make them similar
@@Varkhal218No, it's not shallow at all. It's the other side of the coin.
@@MrPotatoesLatkie not really, no. Fundamentally diffrent regimes
@@Varkhal218 Centralized states, dictatorships run by paranoid strongmen, belief in military power, and violence against all opponents.
Pretty bad video. Not sure who greenlit that. This song was amazing on the album though.
Technically it was Kirk's idea and Lars greenlit it.
It’s a great video actually
