    this is a GREAT video, but for anyone reading this that does their oil changes you should know that the type of oil used is temperature sensitive. Refer to your owners manual for which grade of oil to use - 15w-40 is the appropriate grade for the summer. If you're in a colder environment where it freezes during the winter you'll need a lighter oil for the winter. I travel a LOT in my RV so I carry all 3 grades of oil with me so no matter what I have the appropriate oil on hand.

    Great video and instructions. I have a few questions
    - what is the name of the off road oil. I live in Florida and my generator gets extremely hot.
    - do you have / or can you make a video on the breaker panel wires change. The wire to the breaker panel is losing contact and causing it not to work.

      I think it's the same as the other side just use a short extension on the socket like I did to get enough clearance. if it's still too hard maybe try removing the valve cover but I doubt that's necessary. also don't forget to hit like and sub!

    I’m late to the party, but also use T4 15 W-40 in mine. It has about 2000 hours on it. Never a lubrication problem.
    The Wix number is 57398 . Those are easier to get, but they aren’t as deep. Just get one of those wrenches that fit over the top.
    On another note, I have 563,000 miles on my 7.3 with that same oil. It’s never been touched. Not even injectors.

    I have a 5500 running very rich on start up and have to start at least 3 times to keep it running.Any carb adjustment ?? Once up and running warm runs fine.

    • @immortalengines1605
      @immortalengines1605  4 года назад

      the issue is the choke has a spring mechanism that is activated by temperature. i believe if it gets out of adjustment it can lead to the choke staying on too long after start up. my gen does this. the issue is on the right side of the carb. there is a black round piece i think thats where the spring is. if you go to an onan cummins dealer they might be able to pring the service manual pages for how to adjust that bit

    • @YotieKiller1
      @YotieKiller1 2 года назад +1

      Your problem is most likely the choke pull off actuator. Using an ohm meter you can check bi metal heater element on 2 terminals, should read around 6 ohms.

    Great video, I have one that has no carb and its a efi. It seems to be backfiring from the throttle. Could this be a problem? I think the valves have not been serviced. • @immortalengines1605
      @immortalengines1605  3 года назад

      @@immortalengines1605 great! Another question when you do you know the piston is at the top dead center?I notice your rotating the rotor but how do you know it is at the top? Ive done this to single piston ones but not two. So I am a bit confused. I want to service the valves

    • @plumcrazy9842
      @plumcrazy9842 2 года назад

      @@alanrubio6708 As you rotate the engine, watch the valves open and close.
      Exhaust will be first and then intake, once that has happened, keep turning
      until it gets hard and then you will be close to TDC for that side. Repeat for
      other side.

    I have this same generator and I’ve always had trouble with it shutting down after 45 minutes. Any recommendations? Have lowered the oil level to 1 1/2 quarts as suggested and still have problems. Have replaced spark plugs fuel pumps etc. etc. I always run regularly with fresh fuel etc. and has been an ongoing issue and no one can seem to find the problem?

    • @itruck96
      @itruck96 3 года назад

      The fuel pump can cause this issue. There's a screw near the car carb facing you near the Yellow sticker. Loosen it when the generator shuts off, if no fuel pours out, then it's your pump.

    • @src4409
      @src4409 Год назад

      I just watched a video from a guy who realized that his shut off AFTER a large load had been turned off
      .. like when the a/c compressor would stop. It was the spring adjustment and a nut adjustment on the throttle both.

The 5/40 T6 probably does better in cooler temperatures, Especially during warm-up. I’ve got a couple thousand hours on the T4 so it doesn’t owe me anything.
